We will be eating here in a couple of weeks on my 40th birthday ! (eek Im old !!)

Anyway Im not too worried about me-I will wear a summer dress and sandals rather than flip flops. What about my husband ? Smartish shorts and polo shirt or short sleeved shirt ok ? What about trainers ? Ive read what disney say but Im not too sure what they mean by dress shorts and tank tops (to me thats a knitted sleeveless top !)

And I presume the kids will be ok as long as they are not in swim wear.

Thanks in advance

11 more sleeps to go ! :cool1:

I think tank top means a sleeveless t shirt .Knitted sleeveless top takes me back to the 70s:rotfl2: What you have suggested is right, thats pretty much what my DH wore when we ate there last year. Dont think surf type shorts are allowed or white trainers.
When you go look out for Oscar the waiter, he's a legend:thumbsup2

Thank you I will look out for Oscar !

I dont know what he will wear on his feet then if he cant wear white trainers or flip flops but at least hes got time to think about it !

Looking forward to a nice steak yum yum !

What you have planned sounds fine.

When we went I wore linen trousers, my birkenstocks and a next cotton top, DH had khaki knee length shorts (not combat style ones), short sleeved shirt and canvas pumps. DD who was 4 wore a Monsoon cotton sundress.

We felt fine - neither over or under dressed.

Enjoy your steak!

Your DH will be fine in trainers :thumbsup2

Last time we ate there me & DD wore dresses and sandals and DH wore 3/4 length linen trousers, polo shirt and trainers.

He'll be fine with trainers or flip flops dont worry, my dh always wears shorts and flip flops to dinner and he's never felt out of place not even at California grill.

This is how we dressed for Yachtsman last year, we were suprised in August 2009 to see men in shorts in Cali Grill, didn't see any in Yachtsman, all had long trousers on.
Personally I couldn't care less what anyone else wears in a restaurant, I am there to eat the food not judge what people wear but myself, I would have felt a little uncomfortable in shorts in such a nice restaurant. The service was the best I have ever received in a restaurant and was glad I had trousers and shoes on, this year I might even put on a shirt & tie as thats how most were dressed.
Saying that its a Disney restaurant, next time half the diners could be in shorts and bad service, you never know.

I will say we ate earlier as we had DD with us - think it was a 5.30 ish adr.

There were several families in all more casually dressed than us.

I can only remember one young couple dressed up - him in a shirt and tie and her in a little black dress.

The time maybe makes a difference, we ate around 7pm, came out around 8:30pm if the times are correct on the camera. Sounds about right, thats the time we like to eat.

Ate there last week with an ADR of 8.35pm. Fantastic meal - DH wore long trousers, short sleeved shirt and white trainers, DS (21) wore long trousers, smart t shirt and brown puma trainers, DD, DS' GF and I all wore long dresses. There was a big family near us with guys in shorts and t shirts. We just like going out for dinner in different attire to park wear. :)

Hove a lovely evening. The food will be wonderful I'm sure.

the only restaurant on property with a true dress code is Victoria and Alberts, where men must wear a jacket..

i've seen all sorts of attire at the signature restaurants.

Personally, i prefer dressing a least a bit better when i'm eating in a nice restaurant, but they're not going to throw you out unless maybe you come in a bathing suit..

i have to say i was pretty surprised when i saw a couple eating at the california grill in shorts and t-shirts, but the staff didn't bat an eyelash...

Thanks for all of your replies :), especially for the photos. The food looks gorgeous, and the kids would love that dessert !

Ive bought a new dress to wear today bright orange from monsoon (sale £21 instead of £60 !) , so might persuade my husband to dress up a bit!

I am not one for dressing up but Yachtsman is one place I will make the effort this year. Don't push him though if he feels uncomfortable dressing up don't worry about it.
Reminder of my food pics from last August, hope its as good this year. :cloud9: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2524489&page=23
