Yachtsman, bluezoo, or Bistro

DW and I are staying at BWV for a no-kids long weekend for the start of Flower and Garden in March. We're staying 4 nights & will have a TIW card. One night we'll be eating at California Grille. We'd like to eat at one other signature restaurant in the BW area before going to Jellyrolls while we are there. Last year we ate at the Flying Fish and loved it, but we're thinking of trying something new.

We both enjoy steak, so we'd consider Yachtsman, but are worried that it's not as romantic. Maybe I'm wrong, but it seemed so dark when we stopped in to check it out last year. If that's a mis-perception, someone chime in and set me straight.

I've heard really good things about Todd English's bluezoo at the S&D. Anyone have any experiences to share? We also love good sushi (Kimonos), but I can get good sushi at home. I'm hesitant to go to the S&D because we really enjoy the "Disney" feel. I'm thinking those places, while excellent, may have a more "business traveller" type feel. Again, set me straight if I'm off-base.

The other place we've been kicking around is Bistro de Paris. While the location is exciting, French food doesn't excite me, though.

We'll also probably have lunch at Via Napoli one day (went there beginning of August and LOVED it.) and Grand Floridian Cafe another.

Thanks for any input!

I would pick them

bluezoo
Bistro

Yachtsman

Bistro is really nice but I've heard that a recent change is that there are more children dining there now that they allow orders sent up from Chefs downstairs. There have been posts here that it's no longer a nice romantic place which is disappointing because all of our meals here have been very good. The restaurant is very small and intimate.

bluezoo is outstanding. We've always had good luck with quiet dinners here and if you enjoy fish/seafood, the selection here is very very good. I rank it quite a bit higher than any of the signatures on Disney's dining plan and other than V&A, it's my favorite place to dine at WDW.

Yachtsman is not high on my list of favorites. I would rank it in the middle of the places on Disney's dining plan. We've always had good service here but it's not special and the New York and ribeyes I've had here were not the best I've tasted (the filet was good). This is an average steakhouse, not as good as Ruth Chris, and certainly not fine dining.

My vote is for Blue Zoo. The service can be a bit slow but DH and I love it. I'd describe the decor as sophisticated but not stuffy.

Bluezoo for sure. That place is amazing. Not "business traveler" at ALL. It's very chic. Excellent food and service. It will be on our MUST DO list from now on after trying it last trip. :worship:

Blue Zoo for sure.
And did you consider Shula's for steak? Much better than Yachtsman and they accept TIW.

BTW - In case you were not aware you can get a 25 off 35 cert for most of the restaurants at the Swan and Dolphin at restaurant.com.
These cost $2-$4 with a promotional code you can find on the web. You cannot combine this with TIW though.

Bisto (cuz i love french)
Shula's
Bluezoo
Kouzzina
Yachtsman

in that order...all are acceptible...but yachtsman's delivers what i like to call "the most average tasting meal that really should be better" in WDW...if not on earth

That unfortunately sums up my feelings on most of Disney Dinning.
I do find it hard to believe that anyone would pay for yachtsman out of pocket when they could eat at Shula's for not much more.

Many people consider Bistro second only to V&A as far as both quality and service. I tend to eat there often.

Those were our choices when we stayed at BCV, and we chose The Yachtsman.
BAD decision, we were so disappointed, and we paid OOP! I really wish we would have picked Bluezoo or Shulas instead, so Bluezoo is my vote :)

Thanks for all the recommendations. We were leaning toward Yachtsman, but after reading we decided to go a different direction. We're going to save a bit of money and eat at Via Napoli for dinner and use the savings to have lunch at Fulton's at DTD on another day as well. Since bluezoo was so highly recommended, we're definitely going to eat there on a future trip.
