 I am having a really tough time deciding between these two places for my boyfriends birthday dinner (exactly 4 weeks from today :cool1:). I know he will want steak, we are not big dessert eaters, and we usually love to enjoy a couple of really good cocktails. It will be just the two of us.

I'd love to hear your opinions!! ::yes::

Easy decision, Yachtsman.

Both are priced similarly, but YSH has better food, service, ambiance, and just about everything else.

Ahhh, we LOVE both. Yachtsman is better overall though as far as food, atmosphere (depending what you're looking for, it's more upscale and relaxed than Le Celler) and wine/drink menu. Also, Yachtsman has a full bar and will make anything you request.

Le Cellier
  • Less formal
  • Welcoming to park clothes (though half of Yachtsman ends up in park clothes anyway)
  • Themed atmosphere, 'cellar'
  • Warmer staff for young couples (my girlfriend and I had unfortunate experiences with the server at Yachtsman and actually ended up requesting others. This older woman catered to all of her older couple and larger tables as if she expected a poor tip from us from our age)
  • Excellent steak. Despite the back and forth here, we've never been let down. I've been a steak fan my whole life and often go to high-end steak houses back home, the steak at Le Cellier isn't 'omg amazing', but it's very good.

Yachtsman
  • More upscale
  • More quiet and relaxed
  • Steak was phenomenal both visits
  • Larger drink menu
  • Full bar (can make drinks not on menus)
  • More professional, career restaurant staff.

Yachtsman is better in all regards.
If you're truly looking for the NICER and more upscale dining option, than Yachtsman blows Le Cellier out of the water.
Le Cellier maintains a very 'park' feel to it, with a lot of kids, noise and people in park clothing, etc. Yachtsman is a far nicer restaurant with a quieter and more upscale ambiance and a more professional staff in terms of upscale dining. Le Cellier has a lot of young/loud/vibrant staff from college and work programs.

You will not be disappointed in the food from either place, but Yachtsman is the clear winner.

For the sake of us true steak eaters, just don't ruin it by getting it any form of 'well' lol.

Its not really even close Yachtsman is by far the better restaurant :thumbsup2

Get the Porterhouse its fantastic and for your side order the Truffle Mac and Cheese also very good!

love both, booked for both again this year but Yachtsman is definitely better for the meat and ambience.

YS is the better option for your dining plans. It is more relaxed, quiet, and plush the LC. For a Quiet dinner with your BF, you will enjoy it more there, then an in the park meal place.

YS tables are further apart, you won't feel rushed, the food is wonderful.

Have eaten at both and my choice would be Yachtsman without hesitation. I've eaten at Le Cellier once and have no desire to go back.

I would def. go yachtsman. Honestly, le cellier is good but VERY overpriced. You get great food for a fair price at yachtsman. Plus, like everyone else has pointed out it's more upscale. Now that le cellier is a two credit restaurant, i think it's lost some of it's previous appeal. The only reason I'd tell you to choose le cellier over yachtsman is if you wanted to get back to the parks very quickly or catch illuminations. Other than those two reasons, yachtsman hands down wins.

FWIW, my husband is a big steak eater too and we're trying Shula's on the next trip. I've heard it's just as good or better than yachtsman.
