Any special room suggestions? I paid for the standard view...I know the water view is awesome but this deluxe resort is already over the top for us. Maybe I'll ask when I get there if they have any waterview rooms they can bump us up to. Do they ever do that? I hate to ask for "something for nothing."

We were in a standard view room. It faced out toward the front of the resort, but we couldn't see anything except trees. Which was fine with me because I didn't want to see cars or buses. It really didn't matter anyway because we didn't spend much time in our room unless we were sleeping or the boys were napping.

I guess it depends upon when you are going to be there... and how busy they are. From what I've read here, the best way to ensure you won't get a free upgrade is to ask for it.

You may ask as you first check in, before your actual room has been assigned, what you would see from your standard view room... and what is seen from a water view.. and as they say what you can see, you can exclaim how lovely that must be.... and an "oh wouldn't that be simply wonderful!" From there you may be able to get one for the same cost or perhaps just a few bucks more.

DW and I stayed at the YC last October. It was wonderful. Our room was on the top floor (concierge) just over the doors to the lobby looking right down the pier where you get on the boat to epcot. And if i find the brat who threw bbq sauce all over our balcony we're gonna see if they can fly like peter pan right off that balcony.... hehehehehe

When we checked into the Contemporary we just said - Is there any chance for complimentary upgrade? They got on the phone and I heard the CM say - Yes they are repeat customers. We got the Tower but it was a very slow time. I don't think you have to go for all the intrigue, just be straight forward, maybe you will maybe you won't. The way I figure it is, if we don't ask we definitely won't, but I wouldn't be disappointed either way.
