Hi everyone,

We have just returned, but are making new plans to visit WDW again :)
Next trip will be very special, because we will be celebrating our tenth anniversary. That's why we want to stay at a special hotel.
We have chosen the Yacht Club, but still have some questions before booking. Hope someone can help.
- Do all rooms at the YC have balconies?
- Will a standard view be horrible?
- Can we buy refillable mugs at the YC and where can we fill them up?
- What requests will get me a nicer room? Ofcourse I know that nothing is guaranteed.

Thank you so much for helping us out :wave2:

Virtually all rooms at YC have balconies.
Standard view is fine - the grounds around YC are very nice and well maintained, so even if you don't have a view of the lagoon, most other views (even those that view the parking lot) are fine.
The refillable mugs are available at YC and can be filled up at Beaches & Cream or Hurricane Hannah's (we don't use these, but I understand from others that this arrangement is not as convenient as at those resorts that have food courts).

YC is a lovely resort - we stay there virtually every trip to WDW. You will love it.

Thank you Madalex for these quick answers!
Since you are a frequent visitor of the YC are there rooms at the hotel that you prefer? I mean are some locations better than others?

Just so you are aware, we had a standard view room at the YC in November and we did NOT have a balcony. I would just make sure that you note on your reservation that you are requesting a balcony. We did have a lovely view of the wedding gazebo, but it was hard to enjoy without a balcony. I really enjoyed the YC, but next time I would definately pay for water view. JMO. I hope you have a great anniversary. We are going in May for our tenth anniversary and are trying out the Boardwalk, water view.

Best of luck.

The rooms at the Yacht Club do have balconies. It is not set up like the Beach Club with the partial balconies and non-balcony rooms. Also, I think it’s an excellent choice for an anniversary trip. It is a quite, restful resort. Not that families don’t belong here (it is Disney after all), but I saw many more adult travelers at the YC. It made for a nice, quiet atmosphere during our stay. We loved the YC and look forward to hopefully returning some day. Enjoy your trip!

I had a map of the Yacht Club that showed all the floors and room numbers. I got it on the YC FAQs on this forum, I think. Had to fool with the links a bit but was able to print out the floorplans. We had a waterview room at the farthest end of the resort overlooking the marina. Lovely. Ask for a first floor or upper level room, some of the trees completely block your view.

So now I know I have to request a balcony :)
Nice to hear that there are many guests of the YC that liked it a lot!

We were there three weeks ago and booked standard view, AP rate of $227 tax included. My TA with Dreams, Sue Ellen suggested that I refrain from booking water view, instead I asked for a nicer view at check in, I had been given 1st floor, got a comp upgrade to full water view overlooking the lighthouse. Room was 3063, great location, very quiet. HTH. I purchased my mug at the BC, refilled it at B & C, then was told that there is a place in the YC lobby that I could get refills in the mornings.

Mikey Fliers,

Room 5163.. I just looked at the YC floor plan and you had a water view concierge room with NO balcony?!!! That gets me a little nervous since we reserved that same type of room for our April trip. That's a lot of money to pay and not get a balcony? I thought all YC rooms had balconies and only the BC had rooms with no balconies?

Wow...I learned something today. I booked the YC instead of the BC because I thought all YC rooms had balconies. I'll have to call now and put that on my room request!

BTW, I miss my counter. I was finally in double digits!

Yep, 5163 YC - no balcony.

We only booked standard view and I didn't realize until I looked at the floor plans that our room was considered water view. We looked out onto the wedding gazebo (very lovely) and if we looked to our far left we could see the boardwalk. I would definately not consider it a water view. Don't get me wrong, the room was great, as was the resort, I just wanted to point out that some YC rooms do not have a balcony. We were on the concierge floor and when I went outside it looked as if we didn't have a balcony b/c of the way the dormers were built. I am sure that this only happens on the fifth floor. So, if you are not going concierge, you probably will have no problem with a balcony.

I hope this helps any confusion. If I ever go YC CL again, I will definately request a room with a balcony. :teeth:

Again, the room and resort were very nice and this was the only thing that dissapointed us.

I had a standard view room that had both a balcony and a lovely view of the wedding gazebo. IIRC, there are a few rooms along that corridor that are coded standard but actually overlook the gazebo. I can dig through my stuff to see if I have the room number -- PM me if you are interested!

Is it really possible to request a roomnumber?
I have never requested a special location before. I allways ask the CM who is checking us in for the things I want. And that allways worked :)
For example: I asked for a nice view when we were checking in AKL savannah and we got the best view imaginable. I asked for a cornerroom at POFQ and we got one. We never go during crowded times by the way, allways off-season.

Definitely check out the link that CPer'sMom gave you, it has some great information. We had a garden view in December that overlooked the parking lot and employee break area. Thank goodness it was cool and we didn't use our balcony at all. I would have been extremely disappointed to sit out there watching cars go by and employees eating their lunch. So yes, a standard view can be horrible.

I don't think you want to request a specific room number, but instead list the attributes for that room, ie: full balcony, overlooking gazebo, king bed. I would also mention upon check-in that it is your anniversary and you were wondering if any upgrades were available. A few things could happen at this point, you could be offered a room or view upgrade complimentary, or be offered an upgrade for a small fee, or worst case, offered the upgrade for the difference between rack rates. In any case, it doesn't hurt to ask.
