Yacht Club or Fort Wilderness

Hi everyone. I’m planning a trip with my husband and 3 kids in September and we’re currently booked at the Yacht Club. I’m waffling between that and the cabins at Fort Wilderness. On one hand, I love the pool at Storm a Long and the proximity to Epcot during Food and Wine. One the other hand, I think the kids would love the camping vibe and I’d love the $600 savings (minus golf cart rental). Has anyone stayed at both and have a clear preference? Thanks!

Yacht Club. Hit the food and wine festival. The kids can camp in the backyard when you get back. Lol. Jk.
But I have stayed at both and for me personally it’s hands down Yacht Club. The kids love the pool! And you got the boardwalk, easy access to Epcot and Hollywood studios etc etc.

Yacht Club for sure. The pool complex is hands down the best on property and with the ability to walk to 2 parks and the Boardwalk there too, you have plenty right there. Unless you absolutely need the kitchen and extra space a cabin would provide, you won't regret the Yacht Club.

How old are your kids? LIttle kids or kids who aren't good swimmers can be concerns at Stormalong Bay because of the size, the swift currents in some areas and the deeper depths in some spaces.

A lot more room in a cabin and you get a full kitchen.

If you are more MK focused then cabins are an easy choice.

If you spend more time at EPCOT and HS then YC.

I have never stayed at Yacht Club but would agree the answer can depend on ages of the kids. Under 48 inches will love the splash ground at Ft. Wilderness and my young kids loved seeing the horses at Ft. Wilderness. Boat transportation to the Magic Kingdom and monorail resorts is great, too. In non-covid times, Chip and Dale does a free sing-a-long. My 2 kids under age 5 love Ft. Wilderness. My 4 year old said he wishes he could live there!

I think with F & W Yacht is the better choice. If you're also doing HS then hands down YC.

I've stayed at both, and had a great time both times. You can't really go wrong.

Price being equal, I'd prefer the Yacht Club over the Cabins, for the pool, for the proximity to Epcot and DHS, and for the dining options around Yacht/Beach/Boardwalk/Swolphin. If my trip is going to be focused on those parks, and I'm going to eat at Disney restaurants, that's my pick. Whether that's worth the extra $600 is up to you!

I assume that the Chip-and-Dale Singalong and a lot of the other Ft. Wilderness activities are suspended right now, which really limits the appeal to me. Dining options at Ft. Wilderness are pretty limited, but you do have a full kitchen, and you can get to the MK-area resorts without too much hassle.

From the Cabins, would you rent a car? If not, it makes it quite a bit more painful to get to any of the other resorts since you have to travel to the bus stop first, which means either taking an internal bus or giving back most of your cost savings to rent a golf cart.

It's a trek from the cabins to the boat launch, but once you're there it's a lovely boat ride to MK.
