Staying at the YC for the first time in September and would like to try a resort restaurant.
We've heard that the Steakhouse is outstanding -- but those prices are pretty intimidating.
Can you share your experiences with the YC Galley please? The menu sounds good and the prices definitely more friendly.
Thanks.

We have done both breakfast and dinner at Yacht Galley and think it is quite good, food good and service good..

I would suggest that you make sure you make an ADR for this restaurant as they have difficulties with walk-ups.. it just works much faster if you do the reservation.

we got room service at the yc, which I believe comes from the galley (the menu looks almost exact). the food was far better than I expected it to be. really yummy.

We've had breakfast, lunch and dinner at the Galley. I agree that the food and sevice are very good. At breakfast, there is a nice buffet or you can order a la carte.

We do make ADRs even if last minute.

I stayed at the YC ten times before I finally tried the Galley. I walked by it at least a hundred times and it just never seemed to call out to me to try. Then, one day on my last trip in 2006, I failed to make ADRs for the first night of the trip. Happily, I was able to get into the YC Galley on short notice and I was very pleasantly surprised. The food was quite good and the service was pleasant and efficient. Having finally tried it, I will definitely go back again on a future trip. And, of course, if you are staying at the YC, the convenience of the location cannot be beat.

Not sure if this is still true, but way back in 1997, we were wandering the Yacht/Beach Club area looking for dinner. Hubby wanted a good steak, but the Steakhouse had an hour wait. They could seat us at the Galley in 5 minutes. (This was our first trip, so really didn't know much about sit down meals, etc.)

The Steakhouse and the Galley share the same kitchen, so hubby was able to get his Steakhouse Steak and the kids and I were able to get the reasonably priced Galley menu items, with only a 5-minute wait.

Hi MM!!

We've eaten here several times (dinner) and we enjoy it very much. The crab cakes are great, good caesar salad, and they have a decent variety. They're kid friendly, get the glow cubes, and we've had good service.

Like another poster mentioned, the Galley and the Steakhouse share the same kitchen!

Have a great time!!! And try to get over to Cape May Cafe for the character breakfast, and to Beaches n Cream.......

Wow -- thanks -- the reviews are great.
PJB -- you mentioned the crab cakes. When they're good, there's nothing better! Do you remember if they made them with red/green peppers? Love crab cakes without them!
Also -- the drinks sound really good. Any personal faves out there?!

I've always wanted to try the Yacht Club Galley but never had the chance until last month. I made a reservation about a week before for dinner at 6:40. It is now a favorite restaurant of mine. I thought the theme of the place was just about as good as the Yachtsmen Steakhouse. Very nautical. I had the chicken and it was a normal Disney chicken on steroids. I couldn't really finish it. My husband had the sirloin and it was one of the very few steaks he's ever eaten without ketchup. And one of the very few dishes where he actually didn't ask for a substitution on anything. I also got the clam chowder and I am pretty picky about my chowder. This was perfect. I had a hoist the flag (cherry Sprite, regular Sprite, blueberry Sprite) and free refills. Great meal. Very attentive service but not overbearing. Extremely relaxing. And the hard candies on the way out are fantastic. My husband took one of each flavor and wouldn't share after my two were gone!

This will be a repeater for us.
