An Arrest is Made!
This week, Victoria is charged with Adam's murder after it is discovered that a pen she bought in Dubai is the murder weapon.
Victoria could easily clear her name if she would just reveal her alibi (Billy Abbott), but she's keeping mum about that because she doesn't want anyone to know she's been sleeping with him. That's not the only reason she's holding back though. "She's covering for someone else," teases Amelia Heinle.
After Owen and Chance go over the forensic evidence, they begin to realize that Victoria couldn't have been the one who killed Adam. Still, the police push forward with the case and a court hearing is scheduled to determine if Victoria should make bail.
Meanwhile, Jill publishes a story on the Restless Style website about Victoria's arrest, which infuriates her son (Billy).
As the court hearing begins, Billy shows up just in time to hear the DA objecting to Victoria being released on bail. Billy figures she's going to stand up and admit the truth about where she was the night Adam was murdered, but she doesn't say anything.
The judge denies bail, which prompts Billy to stand up and reveal the truth in front of the entire courtroom. Billy declares that Victoria couldn't have killed Adam because she was with him when he was murdered. Billy comes forward as Victoria's one and only alibi.
After Billy blurts out the truth, the courtroom goes crazy.
Victoria is furious. "She's really mad that Billy would interfere because she's got it under control and perfectly planned out," reveals Heinle. "What she's doing is the way she wants it to happen, but all of a sudden Billy butts in and she tries to get him to shut up. She then flat out calls him a liar in front of everybody. They remove him from the courtroom and Victoria says that it's absolutely not true."
After the hearing, Victoria is taken back to jail and JT stops by to visit her. He questions her about Billy's claim and asks if it's true. "Victoria can't even look at him, so he assumes it's the truth," sighs Heinle. "She hasn't been very faithful in her relationship with JT, so it's pretty much over between them."
Later, JT puts the pieces together and he realizes that Victoria is covering for someone. He knows she's not capable of murder and he also knows how loyal the Newmans are to one another. He assumes that Victoria is covering for her father.
After JT leaves, Billy shows up. He doesn't understand why Victoria would rather go to jail than tell the truth about where she really was when Adam was murdered.
After Billy questions her, Victoria unleashes all her fury on him.
"She really lets him have it," reveals Heinle. "She's so furious with him. She tells him that their affair meant nothing and he is not her family, husband or her friend. It was totally meaningless."
After Billy leaves, the Newmans gather in the interrogation room with Victoria. Michael shows up and presents the murder weapon. "Victoria is trying to get her family to leave so they won't discuss the details of the case," explains Heinle. "She knows what's going to happen when Michael shows everyone the pen."
After the murder weapon is presented, Nick stands and announces that the pen belongs to him. "Victoria gave it to Nick as a present when she came back from Dubai," says Heinle. "She knew that. That's who she was covering for in the first place. Now she knows Nick is going to say, 'Wait a minute. That's my pen,' and that's what ends up happening."
Victoria denies that the pen is Nick's, but eventually her story starts to fall apart and it becomes crystal clear who the pen really belongs to. Nick realizes that Victoria was covering for him and he's in shock.
Victoria pressures Nick to keep his mouth shut, but when the DA enters the room, Nick reveals that his sister was only covering for him. "Victoria knows Nick hated Adam," explains Hienle. "There's a chance he could have done this."
But is Nick really the killer or is he covering for someone else...? Stay tuned.
