XXX Food Porn or Photographer’s view of DxDP-Updated 8/27

What amazing pictures and a great review! I can't wait to see the rest of your meals! I have lurked on these boards for over a year but have been too shy to make a name, but I had to register to say what wonderful pictures you are posting! Thanks! :)

Glad you made the jump!

We tried last trip to get in here after hearing all of the hype but were unable to. When I originally booked by ADRs 180 days out there were again no openings. The nice thing about the new online ADRs is that you can keep checking and low and behold many openings showed up. As mentioned there has been a lot of talk about this restaurant and I was disappointed that they changed the menu somewhat in March but was still willing to give it a try. The restaurant itself is very dark and I can now understand why many people have a hard time taking pictures in here. The walls are very dark but I was happy that they had white panels on the ceiling to bounce some flash off of. Here is a shot of the inside without flash.

As mentioned before all of my girls love pretzel bread leaving me with the rest of the selections which I was very happy with.
WDW-Aug-9-am-161-of-227-L.jpg

DW once again ordered the Tomato Stack with Caramelized Onions, Cucumbers, Crumbled Blue Cheese, and Yuzu Vinaigrette. She had made a comment before we left home that we had to try to eat somewhat healthy. My rebuttal was that we are on vacation and promised the girls cupcakes for breakfast. Well she was trying to hold up her end of the deal.

DD10 decided that she would get the famous Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup made with Moosehead Beer and Bacon. Outside of the soups that we tried at the signature restaurants this was outstanding. Very rich and cheesy.
WDW-Aug-9-am-164-of-227-L.jpg

DD16 went with the Spicy Chicken and Chipotle Sausage with Roasted Corn Polenta andSweet Onion Jam. I reconfirmed with her this morning that it was delicious.
WDW-Aug-9-am-165-of-227-L.jpg

I went with the Roasted Duck Meatballs with a Caramelized Onion Tartlet and a Cherry Gastrique. They were very good but they really gave you a lot. I like duck but maybe not this much.
WDW-Aug-9-am-166-of-227-L.jpg

The entire family went with the highly touted Mushroom Filet Mignon served with Wild Mushroom Risotto finished with a White Truffle Butter Sauce. It was as good as advertised.
WDW-Aug-9-am-167-of-227-L.jpg

DD10 is not a fan of risotto yet so she opted with the Filet Mignon served with Cream Cheese Mashed Potatoes. If not for the risotto these would be an obvious choice.
WDW-Aug-9-am-169-of-227-L.jpg

DW had water for her drink so that she could have a possible good cup of coffee with dessert. The waitress mentioned that she could get a Cappuccino. DW questioned this not wanting to be charged extra. We were reassured that no she could order it.
WDW-Aug-9-am-170-of-227-L.jpg

DD10 ordered the Chocolate “Moose”, Chocolate Mousse rolled in Toasted Chocolate Crumbs with Maple Leaf Antlers after I showed her pictures of it previous to leaving. She really enjoyed it taste wise as well has the look.
WDW-Aug-9-am-172-of-227-L.jpg

DD16 made the Maple Crème Brûlée to extend her quest to have creme brulees aournd the world. The thought this was extremely good.
WDW-Aug-9-am-175-of-227-L.jpg

DW ordered the Berry Sorbet with Lace Cookie and really enjoyed it as well.
WDW-Aug-9-am-176-of-227-L.jpg

I had a Berry Cobbler. Good but not quite as good as the one at Artist Point.
WDW-Aug-9-am-178-of-227-L.jpg

All and all we had a good experience with one exception of feeling a bit rushed. Our server was great and very attentive but there was always a sense of urgency. I know that they are very busy and more than likely trying to get in as many people as possible.

Oh how I love this Spicy Chicken and Chipotle Sausage with Roasted Corn Polenta and Sweet Onion Jam:love:

I go to Le Cellier just for this. It is heavenly:cloud9: DD16 has great tastebuds:rotfl:

And your pictures are amazing!

My oh my! I have been drooling over other people's photos of the mushroom filet for MONTHS, but these... wow! I'm really glad you got a shot of it with the mashed potatoes, because that is what I plan on ordering in September. My. Mouth. Is. Watering! Also, that maple creme brulee looks divine too! :cloud9: Only 20 more days until I get my feast at Le Cellier!

You will not be disappointed. Enjoy your trip.

Following a great lunch at Le Cellier, our family from California that traveled across the country was going to have California food in Florida. Just seemed kind of funny. We were looking forward to this dinner not only because it was a signature restaurant but it was also just a short boat ride away. The girls were very impressed about checking in downstairs and taking a private elevator to the restaurant. We had a 7:30 reservations and no plans on staying around for fireworks but were hoping for a nice sunset. Unfortunately it was overcast and did not get much at all. Here is the view which is truly spectacular.
WDW-Aug-9-pm-6-of-45-L.jpg

We did not get a window seat but one near the kitchen which was fine with us. Our server started us off with some great Sourdough Bread with butter and sea salt. It was almost as good as what we get in San Francisco.
WDW-Aug-9-pm-9-of-45-L.jpg

DD16 had the Seasonal Beefsteak Tomato soup with crispy shrimp. Very rich and creamy.
WDW-Aug-9-pm-12-of-45-L.jpg

DW broke from her salads by ordering the Sonoma Goat Cheese Ravioli with Sun-dried Tomatoes, Pesto, Shiitake Mushrooms, and Basil. She really loves goat cheese and this did not disappoint.
WDW-Aug-9-pm-13-of-45-L.jpg

I have had my eye on the Crispy Asian Rock Shrimp Salad with Florida Citrus, Red Onions, Soy Reduction, and Wasabi Cream since I saw it on the menu before we left. I should mention here that we are such an OC planning family that DD16 made a menu book up back in January with a collection of menus from all of the restaurants we had booked. Many times at dinner talking about vacation we would whip out the menu book and see what our choices would be, sad but true. Anyway back to the salad. This was by far the best appetizer that I had the entire trip. The combination of salad, citrus fruit, crispy shrimp and wasabi dressing made it unbelievable. The wasabi favor was so strong that my first reaction was to wait for heat that was sure to come but it never did. Not sure how they did this but it was yummy.
WDW-Aug-9-pm-14-of-45-L.jpg

For entrees, DD16 stayed with the Seared Day Boat Scallops with Chorizo, Baby Squash, Fingerling Potatoes, Heirloom Tomatoes, Sorrel Pistou. She said that scallops were better than the ones at Artist Point but the sauce was not. Still in all good.
WDW-Aug-9-pm-15-of-45-L.jpg

DW made the obvious choice of Grilled Pork Tenderloin with Goat Cheese Polenta, Roasted Mushrooms, Zinfandel Glaze, and Sage strictly on the Polenta. This dish is to die for if you like the ingredients. It was the easy winner for best dish of the night.
WDW-Aug-9-pm-17-of-45-L.jpg

About this time DD10 had run out of gas on the steak option especially since we had fillets for lunch. She opted for the Handmade Fettuccine with Sautéed Chanterelle and Summer Mushrooms, fresh Buttermilk Ricotta, Tiny Basil. The server made a point of asking her if she really liked mushrooms. When she got it we could see why. It was chalked full of mushrooms which DD loved.
WDW-Aug-9-pm-19-of-45-L.jpg

Since I was feeling a bit anemic, I decided that I needed more red meat and ordered the Oak-fired Filet of Beef, Mascarpone Potatoes, Blue Lake Beans, Arugula Oil, Teriyaki Barbecue. I wanted to make a comparison with lunch after all. Anyway this was just as good as lunch but with a much different taste.
WDW-Aug-9-pm-21-of-45-L.jpg

DD16 continued her quest and ordered the Tanzanian Chocolate Crème Brûlée Crème Brûlée with a Citrus Financier and Chocolate-Hazelnut Bark. Her comment on this was that it had too strong of a chocolate taste. How can that be? It was very good.
WDW-Aug-9-pm-25-of-45-L.jpg

DW wanted something lighter so she ordered the Lemon Trio, Pudding Cake with Citrus Syrup Lemon Curd with Huckleberry Compote Lemon infused Tapioca. I had not know this but none of my family had every had tapioca before. I mean I grew up on the stuff but to them this was some new and exciting find. All of the trio were good.
WDW-Aug-9-pm-26-of-45-L.jpg

DD10 and I ordered the Valrhona Chocolate Cake, Warm Chocolate Cake with Molten Center, Macerated California Strawberries and Grand Marnier. I loved it even though it had strawberries. She thought it was OK.
WDW-Aug-9-pm-28-of-45-L.jpg

As I mentioned we sat across from the kitchen and it was fun watching them all running around like Iron Chefs preparing dinners.
WDW-Aug-9-pm-32-of-45-L.jpg

After dinner we walked out on the observation deck to catch a view of the Magic Kingdom. I did not drag my tripod along with me so we did not stick around for the fireworks.

You take such amazing photos. Everything looks so delicious! Can't wait to read more. :)

Awesome photos and reviews, everything you ate looks wonderful. Looking forward to more!!

Your pictures truly are amazing. The food actually looks better in the pictures than in reality! yummy

Your photos are amazing!

That rock shrimp salad from Cali Grill was to die for, it is perfect for an entree...hey I might try that the next time, get an appie and then get the salad as my entree, goodness knows its large enough

Your pictures are better than the official WDW ones, esp of LeCellier. It's the first time someone took a picture that really captures the cellar atmosphere of it.

Ok, I may post dining reviews in the future, but I will never, EVER post photos to accompany them!! Because yours are :worship: And mine are :rotfl2:

Excellent job and I am now reconsidering a few restaurants I had put on my "meh" list.

Keep the photos coming, although my keyboard might not survive all the drool.

I'm always so happy when I see you have posted an update!:yay:

I think this is one food review I can go back and drool at....I mean look at over and over again!

Outstanding! It's like the food is coming out of the computer screen - I can almost touch and taste it!

Brilliant - can't wait for more!

Oh my what awesome reviews! I have not booked a Le Cellier reservation but your pics are making me want to try it! Thanks for the tip about ordering water and having a coffee with dessert. I had never thought of that but being a coffee addict will def be using the idea.

I can't wait to eat at CG on our trip and am hoping my pics are just as mouth watering as the ones in your report :thumbsup2

because, when I read dining reviews, I HATE scrolling through all the "great review", "loving your review" "here let me quote your post with 10 pictures in it so they'll all post again!!" I wish there was a way to isolate the review itself and have the comments post somewhere else!!

But I am truly in awe of your photography skills so I had to post. Mine are so bad that I don't even take a camera anymore. I want especially thank you for getting me excited about my upcoming trip. For a variety of reasons, I just have not been able to do that til I saw your gorgeous pictures.

Thank you Pooch. All of the reviews are linked on the first post as I complete them. It is just the review without comments. I subscribe to posts all the time without posting just so I can find them. I really appreciate the comments and welcome other peoples experiences at these restaurants. I am just giving you our opinions. Please let me know if any of you have any questions.

This was day seven of our DxDDP and I think that we were starting to run out of gas. It could be that or the cupcake fest we had at Starring Rolls for our mid-morning snack. Anyway we had gone to Prime Time Diner and Sci-Fi Dine-In on our last trip. Both were great entertainment experiences but the food was just so-so. So I thought that we would try Mamma Melrose for this trip on our day at HS. I know that this MM is not what you would call fine Italian cuisine but it was something other than QS. The atmosphere was great and rather empty when we went for our 1pm lunch ADR. I have to say this is another very dark restaurant for shooting pictures which include a black ceiling. My only saving grace was a large white air conditioning pipe running over our tablet to bounce my flash off of. First we were brought some good Italian bread with olive oil.
WDW-Aug-10-am-429-of-644-L.jpg

DD16 and I ordered the Mama’s Antipasto for Two
Selection of Italian Meats, Cheeses, and Marinated Vegetables. It was good but not great.
WDW-Aug-10-am-430-of-644-L.jpg

DW again ordered her Fresh Mozzarella and Vine-ripened Tomatoes with Marinated Sweet Onions, Balsamic Drizzle, Basil-scented Olive Oil, and Sweet Basil Leaves. She said that it was good but after some of the places that we had eaten at was good but not on the level of others.
WDW-Aug-10-am-431-of-644-L.jpg

DD10 again ordered her Caesar Salad with crisp Romaine Lettuce, Caesar Dressing, and Herb Croutons. It was acceptable but again not at the top of the list.
WDW-Aug-10-am-432-of-644-L.jpg

DW ordered the Grilled Chicken Flatbread with Sun-dried Tomato Pesto, Pancetta, Asiago Cheese, and fresh Chives. I would have gotten this one but the I was afraid that the sun-dried tomato would have been to strong. It was good but the pizzas were no where near as good as Via Napoli.
WDW-Aug-10-am-433-of-644-L.jpg

I went with the Wild Mushroom and Arugula Flatbread with Balsamic Sweet Onions and Goat Cheese Pesto. Good but not as good as later.
WDW-Aug-10-am-434-of-644-L.jpg

Since 3 of us ordered pizza DD16 decided to get the Penne alla Vodka with Pancetta and Sweet Onion finished
with Tomato-Basil Sauce, Cream, Vodka, and Pecorino Romano to share with the rest of us. It was good but they served a giant bowl.
WDW-Aug-10-am-435-of-644-L.jpg

DD10 went with the Pizza Margherita with fresh Mozzarella, Tomato Sauce, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, and fresh Basil. Again good.
WDW-Aug-10-am-436-of-644-L.jpg

Desserts were much better in our opinion than the main courses. I ordered the Mascarpone Pound Cake with Limoncello-macerated Berries and fresh Whipped Cream. This tasted like a deep fried pound cake with a light lemon flavor.
WDW-Aug-10-am-438-of-644-L.jpg

DW got the Chocolate Amarettini Cheesecake Chocolate-flavored Cheesecake with a Cookie Crust, Almond Cream, and Italian Amarettini Cookies. I am not a fan of almond flavoring but she seem to enjoy it.
WDW-Aug-10-am-441-of-644-L.jpg

DD ordered the chocolate and mistakenly got the vanilla. Gelato Chocolate and Vanilla. Both were good but not as good as either of the Italian restaurants in Epcot.
WDW-Aug-10-am-443-of-644-L.jpg

DD16 got the Mama’s Panna Cotta Tiramisù-flavored Custard with Ladyfingers and Cappuccino Cream. Good but again not as good as Epcot’s offerings.
WDW-Aug-10-am-444-of-644-L.jpg

I mentioned before that I don’t like doing buffets but thought that I would include a few dessert shots. The restaurant was very crowded this evening. That said we again were dining with another friend so there were five of us. When I made the ADR they could not promise that we would all be seated together. Well she brought a friend along to make it six and when we asked if we could add a person they had no problem and we all sat together. This was our third visit to Boma. When I originally booked this for our first trip, my family thought that I was out of my mind. “An African Buffet?” Well they loved it so much that we returned last time as well as this time. For some reason it did not have that special feel this time and will probably skip it for awhile.
WDW-Aug-10-pm-3-of-12-L.jpg

WDW-Aug-10-pm-7-of-12-L.jpg

I am not partial to banana’s but our guest loved the Banana Bread Pudding with Caramel sauce.
