XM/Sirius Renewal

:cool1:
I called last June to cancel my husband's subscription because he now travels less than 2 miles to work so we didn't see any sense in keeping it. When I called I told them I wanted to cancel it because of the cost. After offering me a couple "best offers" to which I said no thank you the representative said "since you've been with us for many years, how about 3 months free?" I, of course, said free works. So I put a sticky note on the calendar and called again after 3 months to cancel again and they offered me a couple more "best offers" which I said no to and they then said "how about 2 months free?" Again I agreed. It's been like that everytime I've called. I realize one of these times they're not going to offer more but even if it's the next call to cancel it'll be a year since I've had to pay. :thumbsup2

I have been with them for 8 years> Called yester since my sub expires 5/1. They only offered me regular price:( . I guess it is Bye-Bye Sirius hello Pandora!!

I renewed our XM last year for $77 after asking nicely for the offer and when it came time to renew again this year, I also politely asked for the $77 a year offer again.

The CS rep asked what I would do if it wasn't available and I told him I'd cancel. We love the XM, but can live without it, especially for $160 (plus taxes and fees) a year. :scared1:

So he gave it to me for another year for half off (it comes to $88 with all taxes and fees).

I'm very happy with it and wanted to share all you have to do is ask! :goodvibes

My daughter got them to renew her's for $5.00 a month.

Thanks for the info OP and other posters! Ironically, our renewal bill arrived in the mail just yesterday so this was perfect timing. We have two radios and my DH has the more advanced one (more speciality stations) and I negotiated last year but not nearly what you guys have! :cool1:

Ours is renewing in June and I do have it on credit card so they do give plenty of "warning" for the credit card billing. I'm going to politely, but firming ask for the best deal which seems to be the $25 for 6 mos and I'm willing to double that on 2 radios for $50 for 6 mos but I know DH's will cost a little more. I swear the bill was $300 - so like $150 per radio and I'm optimistic I can get that even lower! I was already freaking out when I opened it up thinking after 11 years I'm about ready to stop this but DH is self employed (artist) and he listens to his at this shop all day (boom box) and swears he can't live w/out it. I work from home now so I probably could so at least it's not an idle threat.

Keep your fingers crossed and I'll keep you all updated.

Thanks again,
Heather

Just called to cancel my subscription with intention to renew if the rate was right. First offered $40 for 6 months- told them that was too much. Said we could afford 25 for 6 months. Was offered 27.44 for 6 months, said that was okay, but when we reviewed details we were losing a few weeks. My invoice due date was 5/30 but promotional price would be for 6 months from today's date. I complained about that and the agent game me some credit for lost time (we were not told our new car had free XM when we first bought it and did not access most of the first three months trial). Final price was 18.61 for 6 months of service. I am good with that price even though we are double paying for 2 weeks (in my mind...)

I had Sirius/XM for quite a few years. I have always loved it, but recently let it go. Somehow my old card was still linked to my bank account, even though it was no longer valid. Sirius charged my account $174.99 at the end of February, so it took a couple of calls to them and one to the bank to find out what happened. I told them I wanted my money back on the day they charged me, and it took about a week.

When I talked to the rep in cancellations, she said the best they could do was $95/year. I asked for a better offer, and she said this was the best they could do. I declined, and she replied I guess you will just have to cancel. This is exactly what I did. I may try to call back, and see if there is a better deal since I still have $80 worth of gift cards for Sirius.

My free trial with my new car is coming up this month. So far i have received emails every other day with a different offer. So fat the best one is 24.95 for 6 months . Even at that price I a debating it

Thanks to all for the advice. I just received 6 months for $30.

Has anyone had any luck with a deal for the internet radio. I have just been billed $36.07/year and the best they can offer me is $3.60/mo which comes to $43.20 for internet radio. Go figure. I cancelled the internet radio for now and will wait for a better deal.

sirius auto charged me about $90 for six months called to cancel and get money back and they offered $24.95 plus tax for 6 months so they refunded the rest by check through the mail......
