Xel Ha in Cozumel

I'm just looking for opinions on this excursion. I have it booked for May and was super excited about it but after reading some reviews on Trip Advisor, it looks like a lot of the activities cost an extra fee to do. Anyone with recent experiences?

I've been to Xel Ha in Cancun and it was AMAZING. Yes, some things cost extra and we didn't partake in those and still had a fabulous time!! Weren't bored at all.

Xel-ha is a very cool destination. We visited as part of a week long land trip to the Riviera Maya.
You may already be aware, but you will be ferrying over to the mainland from Cozumel as part of the excursion.
A 45 minute ride each way that can be very rough. It can make for a very long day if you have a rough ride over and know that you may be faced with a similar ride back.
I personally prefer to stay on the island of Cozumel when we stop there. Plenty of options that don't involve leaving the island. YMMV.

We traveled there as part of a noncruise vacation. It was a fun day but we're pretty sure my husband got a stomach virus from eating and drinking there. Only drink bottled drinks (no ice) and watch your vegetables. They also do not allow traditional sunblock only the environmentally friendly kind.
