Anyone have any feedback on either Xcaret or Tulum Ruins excursions in Cozumel?:confused3

We have a 13yr old and 11 yr old. We did the dolphin swim at Dolphinaris on our last Western cruise and loved it. It was the best memory of our last cruise. We're looking for something similar for this cruise in November.

Thank you for any information!:goodvibes

The kids would probably be happier at Xcaret - more things to do that would interest them. They have snorkeling along a "lazy" river that goes through caves, which I'm sure the kids would love. They also have dolphin swims if you want to do another. Xcaret has an awesome cemetery - you have to see it to understand why it is such an attraction; lots of sea turtles; a replica of a Mayan village; animals; etc. Google them to find their web site. You can also see photos on my web site:

We've done Tulum twice and enjoyed it, but Xcaret blew us away! We went while staying with family who have a condo near there. I thought it seemed expensive, until we went there. Amazing! We were there about 4 hrs and then came back for the night show - we only saw about a 1/4 of the park! There will be plenty for your kids to do.

Thanks for the reply. I appreciate the input.

Do you think there will be enough time at Xcaret? I know the kids would like the lazy river and the pictures of the cemetary were amazing.

Thanks again for your help!

I visited Xcaret around 10 years ago and it was amazing!!! The river especially. But I remember seeing tropical birds, sea turtles (baby ones!) and horses. In the evening there was a show that quite frankly was a little boring to me, but I was also kind of young and maybe just couldn't appreciate it. You should be able to fit in the lazy river and some exploration during the daytime with no problem.

You won't be able to see everything, but you'll definitely be able to see enough to get your money's worth! I would do the lazy river early - it wasn't crowded at all in the morning.

Reviving a dead thread! :lmao:

Is this excursion still around????

It looks as though the excursion is still available, according to DCL website.

I've never done Xcaret, but I've been to both Tulum and Xel-Ha. We LOVED those two. Xel-Ha had SO much to do. I personally think that you can't go wrong with either of them, but if you have kids you may find that they'd enjoy Xcaret or Xel-Ha more.

Tulum is awesome we were there last year on vacation and hands down may be one of the prettiest places Ive ever been. If have time to explore also Akumal is really cool. Its a pretty beach with awesome snorkeling. They also have Giant Sea Turtles whos habitat is rigth off the beach you can swim with.

Thanks guys! :) We are going without the kiddos and have 2 totally different styles of vacationing. I'm more of a leisurely drag my heels kind of girl who likes to take sights in and my husband is all about commando style as far as activities. Neither of us have ever been to the Caribbean so I am trying to find something that we can preferably do together but if we have to split so neither of us are being dragged somewhere, we'll do that.

littlemama What is Xel-Ha? Is it a DCL excursion? I've read about Tulum :)

gavakie, is Akumal a DCL excursion?

***Where can I find the excursions on the DCL site? I'm trying to narrow things down so we can save our spot the moment our booking window opens. :goodvibes

It's been about 15 years since I've been to Xcaret - DH and I went there when we were on our honeymoon in Cancun. I can't tell you how many times I have reminisced about this place over the years. It was truly amazing. So beautiful. One of my favorite parts was the underground river and you could just hop in and get out at different areas. The water was soooo cool and refreshing. I have wanted so many times to return there! I was on their website not long ago and it looks like they still have the same things and additional things since we were there.

On the DCL homepage, select ships and activities and then port adventures. When in the port adventure section, choose the port you are interested in, in this case Cozumel, and that will show you the options that are available from Disney.

We did xcaret last year and loved it. My 13 year old ds loved it too. We are going back to Cozumel this year and would like to try something new. We decided on river secreto but my son my son wants to go back to xcaret. I hope I'm making a good decision.
