I have never been much of an Xmen fan but I KNOW that Star Trek has a much bigger following. 3 generations of TV watchers...including ME... will be going! :car:

OK, I am not a Trekki. I've seen 10 minutes of one episode when I was 8. That being said, when the trailers for Star Trek started surfacing my first thought was "hey, that actually looks interesting."

I saw it last night in IMAX and it was better than I imagined. It even made me want to go and watch some Star Trek to see what I've been missing.

Wolfie slashes Trekkies!!

Wolverine opening weekend: $87 million

Star Trek opening weekend: $76.5 million

I liked the XMen movies but haven't seen Wolverine yet... But did see Trek TWICE. Granted the first time was free, with the rest of my Trek club on Thurs night. And then took Mom to see it Sat as a Mother's Day gift. She was one of those responsible for us seeing the movies as kids.

Ugh...no contest. After seeing both films. Star Trek has Oscar potential all over it, while Wolverine has hope-fans-will-forgive-us-for-this-and-still-pay-too-see-all-the-otherX-Men-Movies-we-have-lined-up allover it.

This was about $$$$$$$ not Oscar potential.

That would mean we have been served!

Honestly we forgot to include the Trekkie backlash!:rotfl:

Overall Star Trek will do better.....OKAY? New bet.:lmao:

I think them opening back to back weekends will hurt the one that came out first. But we will never know now.

We haven't seen either one yet. This weekend is Wolverine, next weekend will be Star-Trek in IMAX and the following weekend will be Angels and Demons. We are doing them two weeks behind to hopefully avoid the crowds. Crowded theaters are noisy and drive me bonkers.

I can't wait for Angels and Demons.

Agreed, in terms of more $$$, it was Wolverine. And, Wolverine had to contend with the height of the H1N1 flu scare too.

We can't wait for UP!! Oh, and Terminator Salvation comes out this week!!

Oh man. I want to go see T-Salvation.:thumbsup2

I think that Star Trek will be much larger in terms of $$ made than Wolverine when it's all said and done. Star Trek has had so many bad sequels that I think fans were afraid to go. Now that all the reviews are coming back good, I think next weekend will be a big one for it...

Oh Crap, I forgot Terminator was coming out this weekend. Now we have 4 movies to see. We're getting backed-up because we didn't see any this weekend.

We were in a movie drought. Now there are a lot of good ones coming out.

It looks like Star Trek had less theaters. Maybe that had something to do with it.

Plus Wolverine appeals to a younger crowd.

Wow!! I'm really surprised!! I saw both and, while I liked Wolverine, I LOVED Star Trek! I'm not a Trekkie but I watched the original series when I was really young. I loved that the movie doesn't take itself too seriously. Plenty of humor and homages to the original. I may see it again, and if J.J. Abrams does another, I'll definitely go!!

For eye candy edge goes to Wolverine.

LOL! I was going to say that too. The girl vote goes to Wolverine for the "hottness" factor!!

I must have been in a daze when I posted earlier.

Terminator Salvation is actually coming out NEXT week, May 21.

Sorry about that.

And Up comes out May 29.

I just saw Star Trek at an IMAX last night and it was DA BOMB! It was action packed and had great humor. Surprises in the relationships but the cast that they picked for the characters (all of them) was great. We stood outside with about 25 people talking about it.

As far as action is concerned and the eye candy factor. Wolverine!!! Loved the body shots. Hugh gets an Oscar for just being delicious!!! I should have seen this one on IMAX!!

SO many good movies coming out this summer! terminator, Harry Potter, Princess and the Frog, and on and on!
