Is anyone else here enrolled in the Wyndham Rewards Program? You get points for staying at certain hotels (Hojos, Ramada, Super 8, Days Inn, Travelodge). Well checking my rewards points, after staying this next trip in December I will have enough points to get a free one night stay. On the Hojo Boards Lorealle says that "For every dollar that you spend, you accrue 10 points that can be redeemed for Gift Certificates to restaurants and stores and even for free nights in any one of the Wyndham Family Hotels- including HoJo Anaheim!". But when I use the Wyndham Rewards website it only has the option to redeem your points for Wyndham Hotels. And the only Wyndham Hotel near DLR is one in Fullerton.

So my question is, has anyone used their Wyndham Rewards Points for hotel stays? Any help please!!

Off hand that seems a bit confusing to me, because Ho Jo is a part of the Wyndam Family of Hotels. I know for certain, that one cannot accumulate points for utilizing the entertainment card rate. That is one of the reasons why I have not booked accommodations as of yet, anyway, at Howard Johnson's.
I am still working on accumulating points on my WRC. I know that one needs to have a minimum of 6,000 points in order to qualify for a free night.
If all else fails, I would just call the Wyndam Rewards people.

I was further thinking that perhaps because the entertainment card rate will be used, that one cannot utilize the free night with their WRC.

Another thought. :) Howard Johnson's Hotel, is not a participating member of the free nights stay promotion. Or, due to the date (s) that you will need, that the free night is not available. For again, I know that it is based upon a qualifying stay. So qualifying needs to be defined.

I haven't used the points for hotel stays, b/c I had my account set turn turn my points into Amtrak Guest Rewards points (used some of them for my Surfliner ride on the 5th). But when I'm looking at just the info on the site on the Redeem page, this is what I see.

Hotel Free Night Rewards, with 3 options.

the first option is US&Canada Free Night Rewards. That one says, with the double asterix, that it does NOT include actual Wyndham hotels.

The next one is for luxurious locations, and that link is called Wyndham Hotel Free Night Rewards.

So I wonder if you've clicked on that link, instead of the US&Canada Free Night Rewards link?

And on that Redeem page, to the left I see links to Entertainment Rewards, Gift Certificate Rewards, and Travel Rewards, among others, which maybe is where you can get the other things Lorealle mentions?

Thank you guys.!

Gisele, I remember reading somewhere if you get so much of a discount you don't get points for that stay. I don't remember where I read that. Or if it was even for WR, let me see if I can find that.

Molly, when I click the luxurious locations link it gives me a hotel that is the Wyndham Anaheim Park in Fullerton. And then when I click the US&Canada link it just says Tier 1 Hotels, etc, but I guess we would have to call and see what the Tier 1, 2, etc, hotels consist of? Because I don't see a link for a list. I guess it does include other hotels that are not Wyndham hotels because it says this in fine print at the bottom. ** This category does not include Wyndham hotels. All Wyndham hotels are located in Wyndham Free Night Rewards. Well after my stay at the Hojo, I'll see how many points I accrue.

So one more question. Since you're enrolled in WR you're also enrolled in Windham By Request. And it says that after you're 3rd night stay as a Windham By Request member you get things like a free drink and snack and you can request extra pillows, towels, etc. Is this only at Wyndham Hotels too? Or would this work at the Hojo?

IF the entertainment rate doesn't count, that's relatively new. My first experience with earnings there was with that rate at hojo, just a bit over a year ago.

Then again, the points for my May stay are not there, and aren't on my Amtrak site, so I'm putting in a "missing points" request, and we'll see what they say.

It's silly, since the points you get are based on the money you spend, so if you spend less you would get less, and it would SEEM that it would all even out. But then, I am not a founder of these rewards programs!

That's what I was thinking. The less you spend the less points you earn, so in a way, better for them. When I called to tell Hojo AFTER I made my reservations the girl I spoke to didn't say anything like "oh btw you're not going to earn any points on the nights you used the ent rate". We got the ent rate 2 out of the 3 nights we were staying.

I know for a fact, that the ECR, does not earn the WR points. My source is Lorealle, and from a customer service rep. from WR, that I spoke with, just yesterday.

Here is more information from WR site:

I might switch over to rail points, instead of accommodations.

Odd! One needs at least 6,000 points I know for a free nights stay. However, the only locations that are available for this program, begin at 10,000 points. That just does not make for good sense to me. Furthermore, if you have earned your points at say the Ramada, you should be able to redeem them there as well. But that is not the case.

With 4,000 points you can order an Entertainment Book.
One needs 5,500 points for a $25.00 gift card for Burger King, amongst others........ :faint:........Or for Amazon etc..........or 5,500 points for a $25 Jackson Hewitt Gift Certificate. Yep! Rail points are starting to look better and better, I wonder if it is too late to switch over? I don't think so. :)

What it comes down to is this, no free night at Ho Jo. Or at the Ramada, etc. in Anaheim. That is just so stupid, for this is the area to which I gained my points in. Maybe I will just order the ET book.

10,000 Wyndham Anaheim Park.......... from a post of mine, on page one. So the best that I can tell, that is the only location in Anaheim, that one can receive a free night at.

Right? So you can just use your free night at the Anaheim whatever it's called in Fullerton?

What about the ByRequest thing? And getting a free drink and snack? Is that only at the Wyndham hotels too?

Wait, you now don't get points when you book the Ent Rate? Because we did in July.....
