Does anyone know if the Wyndham Palms Resort's new pool is open for swimming yet? We were planning to request a room by the new pool for our March trip, but on Tripadvisor people who were there in January said it was still under construction. If anyone knows I would appreciate it...I know I can call the resort and ask, but from the reviews I've read I'd rather ask you all!

I can't BELIEVE it's not open yet!! We were told a year and a half ago that under no uncertain circumstances it was going to be open during our scheduled week in June-05...well, we were there in Oct-05 and it still wasn't open but supposedly it had been open for a few weeks before we got there but than they had to close it for some reason. Supposedly they're putting some cabanas and I think a pool bar in it so maybe it's still closed because they're working on the final touches. I have to call them in the next day or two so I'll definitely inquire about the pool because we're going to be there in late April. I'm going to be one very unhappy owner if we get there in April and it's still not open a year after they assured us it was going to be open.

Any new news on this?? We're arriving 4/22.............

Also--Jeanne B.--since you are an owner, can you tell me if all guests receive the free continental breakfast?? We traded through II and aren't sure if we qualify. Can't ever pass up free food!! ;)

The pool apparently STILL isn't open. :furious:

I would assume the free continental breakfast is for all guests regardless of whether or not they are owners but I don't know for certain...sorry!!

We were there March 4 - 11 and the new pool was NOT open! I had called a few days before leaving and asked...was told it WAS open although the slides were closed...so I requested a building by that pool. When we were shown to our unit the rep commented about the pool being closed and I indicated that we had specifically asked to be by a pool as we have young children who love to swim. She said "well, it was open a while ago, but they're working on the slides now and I have no idea when it will be open again". I would definitely call several times before your arrival to verify with different people that it is open before you request to be near it. We ended up by the main pool/mini golf and had a really nice unit and were able to walk to those activities.

By the way...the breakfast is offered to all guests...however during our stay it was offered from 8-9:30...so if you're trying to be at the parks when they open it is useless. We just bought poptarts and cereal and ate in our room before we left.

Any other questions about the resort just ask or send me a PM and I'll try to answer!

Thank you so much for responding!! I can't believe it's not open!!!

I agree with you, breakfast starting at 8:00 doesn't help those of us that want to be at the parks at opening.......we'll probably stock up on groceries when we get there too.

Speaking of groceries, is there a good grocery store close by?? We get in rather late, and would like to stock up before we even check in so that way we don't have to go back out.

From Wyndham there's a Publix about about a mile or so up 192 heading east and that's where we always do our grocery shopping. It's hard to spot because it's off the road a bit but if I recall you to take a left hand turn right next to the Walgreens which is on the left and you should see the Publix off to your right behind some of the stores that are right on 192. If you're coming down I-4 from the airport you would need to take the 192 East exit and it's probably less than 1/2 a mile from the exit. I'm doing this from memory but I hope it helps!! Coming from the airport they're may be another one that's easier to get to but we usually always shop the next morning so this one is convenient for us.

Any news?? We're leaving in 11 days!!! :cheer2:

I'll be calling them this week or next to put in our unit location request since we're leaving on the 29th - I'll be asking about the pool situation at the same time so I'll post what I find out. Hopefully it's good news. :goodvibes

I checked Trip Advisor and most recent entries said new pool wasn't opened. I broke down and called Wyndham today and the rep said the new pool was open, but the slides weren't. We'll see.
We arrive Saturday, I'll let you know when I get back!
