We are going to Orlando 29th November, staying at Wyndham Palace. Has anyone stayed there. What is the weather likely to be like. Thank you

Bump - anyone stayed at the Wyndham Palace?

Hi Rain :)
Just put Wyndham Palace through the Search and lots of threads came up including this one posted by Lenny :-

Hi,
We stayed at the Wyndham Palace a while ago and it was in November.
It's a lovely Hotel, very well run and with lots of facilities. It's a big place so it can be a bit of a trek to the pool & restaurant depending where you're room is but no big deal.
Situation is excellent whether you have a car or not as you have all the Disney transport on the door-step and lots of shops and places to eat within easy walking distance.
I don't know if they still do it but we had a wonderful character breakfast there.
Weather in Nov is usually very nice and mostly dry.
You will need a jacket for morning & evening as with the shorter daylight hours it does take a while to warm up but the bonus is that you can often sleep without the air-cond. on and most of the bugs have gone. You will also need to find a heated pool as the water can be chilly then but that won't be a problem at this hotel.
Hope you have a great time,
Carol:cool:

We stayed at Wyndam Palace a couple of years ago - 1st week of Dec. Have to agree with everything Keith & Carol said. It's a great location and you should be able to get it for a reasonable price.

The weather in dec was fantastic. 80's during the day, but as in the UK the daylight didn't last very long.

Just returned from Florida (landed 4 hours ago - trying to stay awake at the moment).

I stayed at the Wyndham for three nights (booked through Priceline) and it was very good value for money - although I would probably begrudge paying full rate.

The location is brilliant. A three minute walk from Downtown Disney - I don't think you can stay any closer. There is construction work on the road which has resulted in them closing the footpaths/sidewalk. I resorted to 'jaywalking' rather than trekking down to the crosswalk ;)

Check-in was a bit slow. And the room I had been allocated wasn't ready. Lacking patience I opted to take the next available room which would have had a fine view of the fireworks were it not for the balcony being closed for renovation work. I think they are painting the outside of the hotel.

I suggest you have coffee/drinks in the bar on the top floor (Arthurs) great views from the 27th floor.

The gym/spa is well equipped - of course I didn't use it!

Car parking is a bit of trek from the hotel if you don't opt for their $10.66 a day valet service.

Hotel shop was ludicrously overpriced. Also, the vending machines on each floor only provide ice - no canned drinks. Thus you are forced to pay through the nose via the shop or room service.

Restaurant is okay - but rather smart and the food so-so. Plenty of choice at Downtown Disney (and believe it or not - cheaper!)

Email/web access provided by the TVs in room or dedicated dataports. Via the TV is $10 for 24 hours.

I strongly suggest you register for Wyndham ByRequest. Simply visit their website. Once you have you membership number (it is free) email the central reservations and have it added to your booking. We received a miniture bottle of JD (Cost $5 for the coke to go with it!!!) a bowl of fruit and some bottled water. Plus extra pillows etc.

The pool area looks attractive - although we only walked past it on the way to DD.

Cant think of anything else to say. Overall, a comfortable, clean hotel - very popular with conferences etc - it also had a homecoming party (prom?) one evening we were there. Lot's of very well dressed students clambering out of rediculously big limos.

As an aside - we decided to stay an extra night near Disney, so I booked into the Animal Kingdom Lodge, Savanna view. WOW! What a great hotel!!! I want to go back NOW!

Hope this rather long reply helps.

Thanks for the very helpful reply, Do you know how long the road works are likely to last? We are staying there two weeks commencing 29th Nov
I am glad you had a good time, interesting about Animal Kingdom as we could have got this for the same rate (booked a while ago before we knew about priceline)

The roadworks will not really cause you any problems. They appear to be laying new sidewalks and changing the entrance to the Lake Buena Vista Golf Club.

I would have expected it to be finished by November.

One further tip for the drive - I kept missing the correct road or turning to early and ending up in a DD car park! Keep on the road running parallel to DD, pass a gas station on your right, keep going, past the Sun Trust (?) building (looks like an office for a bank) also on the right hand side. It is the next left, after 'Marketplace'

You will enjoy the place. Hotel is fine. Comfortable and brilliant location. Mmmm, I can taste the chocolate shake from Ghiradellis....

You have chosen a great time to go. All the Thanks Giving / Christmas decorations will be up. I expect that you will have a better room than I did. I suspect that priceline customers don't get the best rooms.

One last thought... I really loved AKL. I have spent tons of money on a Kenyan Safari and I didn't get so close to the animals as at the Lodge!

If you can do it - Amend your booking to include a night at the AKL. It is the best themed hotel I have ever stayed in and the food at Boma was great fun. The hotel has a daily diary of events including a nightvision session just after 10pm. It was very good. A cast member lets you view the savanna through night vision goggles and provides a brilliant commentary on the animals care, feeding habbits/personalities etc.

Plus you get two days free parking at Disney if you stay onsite!
