Has anyone stayed here? I was so excited when they accepted my bid (even though DH was mad as we are staying there precruise and he thinks it is so much farther than the airport hotels) but then I read some reviews on expedia that were pretty bad-saying that it smelled etc. The reviews on bidding for travel were good so I guess I am looking for the "real deal" I want to be prepared to either gloat to DH about the deal I got ($30.) or be ready to eat crow and hear him complain

We only stayed there one night. It was our arrival night after driving straight down from Illinois.

We thought it was gross. The room was a shoebox. It smelled musty. There was mold all over the bathroom. The carpets were stained. The A/C only worked on high. Since it was a window unit, it blew directly onto the bed and onto me because the bed is about a foot away from the window. I was afraid to put any of our suitcases on the floor because of what might crawl into them!

I would of asked to switch rooms, but we were exhausted and just looking for a place to sleep. In the morning we didn't need an alarm clock because at about 8:00 three employees were gabbing loudly directly outside our room. We could hear every word! We left ASAP and checked into HIFS, which was a complete joy!

Sorry if my review isn't what you wanted to hear. I have read good reviews on this property, so if you get stuck in a dumpy room like we did, just make sure you ask to be relocated.

When were you there? What room type did you get? I wonder if I should just lose my money and cancel! yikes!

We were there last August.

If it were me, I wouldn't cancel and lose the money. But definitely inspect your room and demand a good room if you get one in poor condition. I've read good reviews on this property, and I do think there are rooms that are in good condition, just not the one we got :(.

I hope I haven't made you worry too much. For $30 a night, (plus they charge a resort fee, but I can't remember how much?) the price can't be beat!

How many nights are you staying there?

Teresa

Oops, I forgot to add what kind of room we got.

It was a room with two double beds. There were 4 of us in the room. Me, my DH, and our two DD's.

I requested via wyndham requests a king with either pullout couch or a rollaway. We are staying only one night and it is just DS(9), DH and myself, I have real problem with mold so I am worried now. Did you get the welcome gift and turndown service? what about the robes etc and the bath and body works products? Did you eat on site/ How were the pools, boy I am worried.........:(

I have a real problem with mold too. As a matter of fact, we just moved out of a house in June that was full of mold. We moved out because our kids were always getting sick from the mold.

We checked in late, around 9:00 and checked out at 9:00 the next morning.

We didn't eat there or even look at the pools. I just wanted out ASAP. We didn't get a welcome gift, turndown service or any bath and body works products. I didn't even realize they were available? I don't know if there were robes in the room or not. I never opened the closet.

Oh, and one more thing about the room I forgot to mention. The toilet had no lid!!! LOL eeewwww!

Well, we were just there for a few nights in the beginning of December and I didn't have any of the problems discussed above. As a matter of fact, I did look for anything I could find wrong with the room and came up short. The only thing I do have to say is that when we first turned on the A/C, it smelled a little musty, but we left it run for awhile with the patio door open and it was much better in a few hours. The complex consists of several 2 story buildings...we were in building 8 towards the bck of the complex. It was extremely quiet and it was newly renovated. We had a balcony with a view of one of their lagoons and the grounds were pretty. The drive to the airport was short and easy....didn't take very long at all...maybe 15 minutes with a trip through the drive thru at Dunkin Donuts for coffee.

I would request a building with indoor corridors..from what I unerstnd, there is also outdoor corridors in some of the buildings... This hotel is definately a great deal for the Priceline price.

Klait, is the dunkin donuts nearby? That sounds like a good plan for a cheap breakfast on our way to the port, or I could pick it up the night before eat in the room and then head out. What about dinner options, I really don't want to spend a lot as I want to save my $$ for the cruise. I heard they have a deli on site anyone try it? Was it reasonable?

Oh also Klait did you get your room via priceline or another means? Did you contact them before arriving? I am wondering if they give priceline the bad rooms and regular folks the good ones? Did you have a welcome basket?

Yes, we did get our rooms through Priceline. At the time, they were allowing you to add your By-Request number to your reservation. I have heard that they have since stopped doing this. As far as the welcome gift, I didn't think it was a big deal. We had a small (individual) bottle of water and diet Coke and a small box of pretzels....I would definately call or fax a few days before with any requests that you may have. I am not sure if any parts of the hotel are nicer or not....I think it was a nice place.

We did not try the deli or any other restaurant on site as we were gone most of the time we were there. There are several chain restaurants really close by....within walking distance easily..

As far as the Dunkin Donuts, I think it was close, but I cannot exactly remember. It may have been as far as 5 miles or so toward the airport.....Had an early morning flight and must have been half asleep!

Any other questions, please let me know. I think that the Priceline rate for this hotel is really a bargain.......

ok well I am just going to stop worrying, what will be will be and I know the cruise will be great so even if this one night is not "magical" I am sure I will survive-hopefully I will get a room like yours thanks for your help!

AnnMorin-
Thought I would add my 2 cents worth to this subject. As a former MA resident (long time!) and current FL resident (10 years) I hope I can help you feel better about your hotel. I have stayed at least 5 times at this property with Priceline. It is true that some of the reviews have been mixed, but I think overall they are positive. Personally, this hotel has become our hotel of choice when bidding on Priceline. We prefer to stay here when we visit Disney World over any other 3* in the Disney Vicinity area.
Our experiences have all been positive. The staff is fine, the grounds are lovely (it is very nice to be able to go for a nice walk and stay off of International Drive). The pools are good and the restaurants are fine. I have only eaten breakfast in the main restaurant and a dinner outside at the pool grille. I'm afraid I don't know how the deli is but it looked pretty good. I would recommend that if possible you request a room near the back of the property. We have always been given a room there, so I don't know if these tend to be "Priceline" rooms or not. These rooms are very quiet and I have heard that the ones in the front hear noise from Intl. Drive. We have never had any trouble with the rooms, they a quite comfortable and seem clean and well taken care of. Also, I have never experienced a mold problem. Overall, I think this hotel is a great bargain for $30 (the resort fee was about $4.44 a night, but that was in Sept. so it could have changed.) I'm quite sure that the By Request perks are no longer available, but for a while it was a nice extra.
I sure hope that your stay here is a good one, I think it will be! Have a great time.

well I am quite pleased the manager emailed me and said that the wyndham requests are no longer available via priceline but that because it is my birthday they will give us a nice room that is all I ask., they seem like such nice people to get back to us and all so i am thrilled!
