We arrive at AKL Kidani about 4pm on a Friday in June, we have a res at Trex Downtown at 8pm. Would you take the bus? I've read about parking issues at DTD and wonder. We have 3 kids with us.

I would recommend the bus. Parking at downtown disney is a mess when I was there in Dec. The bus ride is about 20 mins and the walk to TRex is about another 10 to 15 minutes from the bus stop. If you left your room at 7 PM, you should be at TRex around 7:40 to 7:50. It depends on the wait for the Downtown Disney bus.

DTD on a Friday night? I'd be taking the bus.

Always take the bus to DTD. It isn't worth the hassle to drive.

I've always had a rotten time with DTD parking, and actually in January on marathon day it was the BEST it has ever been.

Any benefits gained from taking the bus TO DTD in the past has been mitigated by absolutely horrid times getting a bus back to the resort. So much so that despite all the difficulties and long lines at long lights...I personally would and do drive there now.

I've driven to DTD before and had no trouble parking. BUT....it was middle of the week, in the morning. Now? Nope. With all the stuff going on in that area, I would just stick with the bus. Yes, it will take you longer to get there, but you won't have the hassle of parking. Not to mention all the locals who are darting to and fro, trying to move more quickly, added to the tourists who are completely freaked out!
And yes, it can take awhile for a bus to get you back....but, if you aren't in a hurry, it's really not a huge deal. I seldom have an issue with buses at night since I'm not going anywhere other than back to my resort.
