Okay--so having NEVER seen a large amount of people on that path at any other time than right after park close, and thinking it odd that so many people an kids were drawn to get close and look at the jacket, I have gone back to page one and looked at the photos again.
You have two photos in which no other people (or shadows of people--shadows were really showing up) are seen anywhere near this couple. The only other person at all is waaaaaaaaaay down the long length of path visible in one shot and that person appears to be maintenance.
Just how many people are you talking about here? How many kids were ogling the jacket and then having to breath the smoke? I am wondering if in your annoyance you might be exaggerating just a tad?

Caught! I exaggerated, it never happened, I wasn't even at Disney.
Shall I send you my lens make so you can check the distance I can take pictures? Perhaps I took it from space in my invisible aircraft.
Blah, blah, blah.....

I can't imagine going to WDW and letting this stuff even register with me. Life is too short, and my WDW time even shorter.

I agree with you but if Disney wants me to be the "Smoking Police", I want a badge!

I wouldn't have done anything. While sad that she just threw her cigarette butt on the ground I wouldn't complain about it to anyone. I would just chalk it up to the woman being a rude smoker.

Well first, I probably would have totally applauded that guy for being brave enough to still rock a patch covered denim jacket in public, complete with a different shade of denim on his jeans, and not look like a total loon. 1992 is hard to pull off these days, even in Disney whilst covered with Disney themed patches, and this guy manages to do it and just look sort of normal instead of like someone who is on an assortment of illegal substances. So kudos to him.

Second, I would have asked him where he got that sweet PoTC patch because my friends little brother would totally love one for his backpack.

Last, I'd probably think it was cute that they were both wearing wicked Disneyfied outfits and seemingly have no kids with them. Clearly, these are people who still know how to party.

When she dropped the cigarette, I'd probably ignore it unless there was a bird/squirrel/rabbit/unattended toddler in a 5 foot radius. Then I'd probably just go toss it out of fear for their safety. Other than that though, their littering, while rather ewww, is also something that is not a crime punishable by death or dislike. Everyone has littered at least once in their life.

What I WOULDN'T do, probably, is follow them, take pictures of them, and then post a thread about how gross they were though.

For goodness sakes, I was not saying it never happened--just that maybe there weren't as many people around and as many others upset as you think. I know that many people (myself included) tend to see everything as more or more important when they are upset than not. Just that bit of knowledge--combined with it seeming odd that a lot of people would notice the jacket to the point of getting close to gawk at it and the photos not showing anyone else and the paths not generally being heavily traveled made me think that you might have exaggerated a bit. You know, turned the other family near you into a lot of people, taken your interest in the jacket and projected it on others in the vicinity, etc. It happens.
Obviously these people were where you say they were and they were smoking--that is apparent in the photos you took. What isn't so obvious is why anyone would be as upset as you seem to be (taking photos and starting threads) much less lots of people--which brings me back to wondering if you just remember more people than there were and/or projected your feelings onto them. It is a fairly common thing to do. I've done it. I generally recognize once I calm down that things were not as I was perceiving them in my upset though.

Well, whenever I notice anybody weirdly following me around and taking my picture for no known reason I'm tempted to call a Security Guard and report them for suspicious stalking behavior. I can't say it has happened all that often but if it did I'd probably find it kind of creepy.

Oh wait! You meant.......

I agree, the woman is a rude smoker if she isn't disposing of her butts properly.

Otherwise, I wouldn't have given it a second thought. You are only responsible for yourself and can't make people behave one way or another.

Now as for posting their pictures here online, you own that one. Seems like too much time on someone's hands really to even bother to take the picture, post it and post a thread. :confused3

Hope you had a nice trip otherwise.

I would have walked fast to get 'up wind' of them.........not stayed behind and took pics.
They look like big Disney fans to me :wizard:

It never would have occurred to me that they were breaking any rules. There are ashtrays on the trash cans in that area so I would assume it is OK to smoke. I know my husband, who is very careful to observe the smoking areas, has smoked on that walkway when it isn't crowded. And put his butt in an ashtray.

I would have done nothing but admire the jacket!

One of my fave posts ever!!

Sorry Op but your behavior is far stranger than the offending smokers you are complaining about.

Agreed. In fact, I'll see LuvLDM's "stranger than the offending smokers" and raise it to "more offensive than the smokers themselves".

To take pictures of total strangers and post those pictures on an internet BB so you can talk trash and make fun of them? That's like school in summer. No class.

I wouldn't have done anything because I would have assumed it was OK to smoke there.I probably wouldn't have noticed the woman putting out her cigarette on the ground because I don't watch other people that closely and even if I had been looking at her at the exact moment she was putting it out, I would have thought it in the same light as if I saw someone drop a gum wrapper or when someone leaves their empty drink cup behind where they were sitting - not something I would do, but not something I'd get bent out of shape over.

Snapping pictures and posting on the internet comes off as way too involved in what strangers are doing and kind of creepy.

Would you snap photos and post about the people who don't put their cart back in the corral at the grocery store or who stick stuff in the regular trash instead of the recycle bin? Probably not because it's one of those petty little annoyances in life - same with putting out a cigarette on the ground.

Anyone besides me think the OP is *very lucky*? :confused3 Snap a pic of the wrong person and you'll be having a hell of a time dislodging that camera!

Seriously. Loud jacket or not, I'd be pretty peeved to find out someone actually took my picture and then posted it on a message board - especially a large message board like the DIS. Who the hell does that?!

FTW! :thumbsup2

I'm confused. Which one of you is their mother, you or the cast member? :confused3

It is not against Disney rules to smoke there. I wouldn't have done or said anything.
