Can't he just come Friday, after work? And you guys go as planned?
And if not - if it were me - I'd leave Wednesday. And if you feel that guilty about it, call in sick.
For some companies, termination date is not extended by vacation leave or sick days. For example, if you give 2 weeks notice and have a few sick days or vacation, you can't use the last of your 2 weeks with paid leave. Your tem date becomes the last day physiclly worked. Some companies stipulate that you will only get your accrued paid time off only if you actually work the notice period. Some companies also will pay you in lieu of your notice (they are just as anxious to get rid of you as you are to leave).
These date issues can come into play if benefits is at stake.
