Wwyd?

Can't he just come Friday, after work? And you guys go as planned?

And if not - if it were me - I'd leave Wednesday. And if you feel that guilty about it, call in sick.

For some companies, termination date is not extended by vacation leave or sick days. For example, if you give 2 weeks notice and have a few sick days or vacation, you can't use the last of your 2 weeks with paid leave. Your tem date becomes the last day physiclly worked. Some companies stipulate that you will only get your accrued paid time off only if you actually work the notice period. Some companies also will pay you in lieu of your notice (they are just as anxious to get rid of you as you are to leave).

These date issues can come into play if benefits is at stake.

Oh, I wasn't saying so the OP hubby gets paid - I just was suggesting an "out" if they felt guilty about it.

I personally, would let them know my notice date, has changed.

What difference does this make?? If "your word is your word" - how does the fast food industry make any difference?

It doesn't. So just as you can leave McDonalds for Wendy's in a heartbeat, you can leave two days earlier than planned from old job.

It was an example of a typical job someone might work while on their way to their "real" career. Most industries are fairly incestuous in nature, in that if you leave a bad taste in someone's mouth at one company, it'll inevitably spread through others in the same industry/career path. Will your new prospective boss know that you mouthed off to your boss when you were 16 and delivering newspapers? Probably not, but they might know about when you were unreliable at your last job in the same industry.

There's a huge difference between what you *can* do and what you *should* do. Is it smart to burn bridges at a company when if you plan on staying in the same career until you retire? No, it isn't. But can you? You bet.
