Thanks. My nurse daughter just came home and said the social workers at her hospital are very firm about NEVER giving money to people. She also advised that I buy diapers and formula (which I think she can get from WIC) or give her a gift certificate to Walmart. She pointed out that you can buy beer and cigarettes at Walmart - but I think she has already spent cigarette and beer money on the children. I was able for her to get AFDC and no flames - she deserves it but she is still making a sacrifice. She hasn't been able to work because of the kids. They don't have birth certificates - although we are getting them for her - so she can't get them into daycare. The baby has never had any innoculations - actually never seen a doctor and we don't know about the older child.
I was really wondering what you all thought was the more deserving cause. After discussing it with my sister again, she said she would like knowing her donation was going to someone specific - so that's what we'll do. She is leaving it up to me whether I buy things or give her the cash. I love my sister.
No I don't think discussing the matter so generally is an infraction of the guidelines which are very specific.
