WWYD (old Nintendo games)

Do you have any local gaming/comic book stores? That’s where I would go if you don’t want to sell online. Just not GameStop. My son and husband are really into Nintendo video games especially. He has all the consoles dating back to the original NES including the power pad. My son has bought a few of the older game boys from his local comic/gaming store and they will call him when they find something he’s been looking for.

It varies. The highest value one (according to the website I was searching on) is Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Sky. There were some others in the $15-20 range.

Except I'm not established on ebay, so I'm not sure how well I'd be accepted. Plus, I'm a little concerned about someone paying, shipping them the games, then them claiming it doesn't work and asking for a refund.
I have Pokemon Mystery Dungeon and I didn't know it was a valued Nintendo DS game? I have a Nintendo DS myself but I never knew that some of the games were collector's items. You might want to contact independent used video game stores in your area and ask them if they are willing to sell your Nintendo DS games. Because I used to buy some of my Nintendo DS from used video game stores. But I used to go to Gamestop and the Nintendo DS games they have were expensive used but they sometimes have used Nintendo DS games for $3,99 but call around to used video game stores and don't be afraid to ask about any policies they have about selling Nintendo DS's and games
Good Luck Sam and hope this advice helps you

While cleaning things out, we found an old Nintendo 3DS, a DS Lite, and 34 games (some 3DS, some DS, and some Gameboy). We've got the chargers for the 3DS & DS, a stylus, but not the original. Both devices power up and the displays work.

Looking up prices online for "loose", everything totals ~$600.

So, now what do we do with them? We don't sell on ebay.

I'm thinking GameStop or some other reseller, and would hope to get maybe $300 for everything.

I can do Nextdoor, but don't know if I want to deal with individuals agreeing to a price, then when we meet doing the "well, would you accept <some lesser amount?"

DW is on FB, maybe FB marketplace?
Keep your Nintendo 3DS… because THIS might happen!

Seems weird to just part ways with it without a price tag (seemingly to pay for a medical bill) to your son if you were so reluctant to donate it for free to charity. Just giving it away to your son to do with it as they wish when you were so concerned about money beforehand is odd to me.

Also surprised you didn't just ask your family about this. Like "hey found your old gaming console do you want it?" If anything they probably would have had advice to give you on what to do with it if they didn't.

On topic, in-laws have sold some things on FB marketplace with some stuff sitting for a long time (old bulky furniture). She hasn't sold on e-bay but my husband has bought several things on e-bay with good results (2 suits actually one) and has sold a few things on there himself (mostly electronics like keyboards or other stuff). For what the OP was attempting to sell, before just handing it off to their son, I would have gone along with others about e-bay. The particular items would have a higher shot (IMO) at being sold without nearly the same headaches as FB marketplace.

If you ever do sell on FB marketplace ALWAYS go to safe selling spots in your area which are normally police stations. We just had a man robbed at gunpoint (by four people and not a common situation here) during a FB Marketplace sale at a park earlier this week.
