WWYD? offered free upgrade

Well since Spirit cancelled our flight and rebooked us out on Friday, we will be at DTW on Friday also. Our flight leaves at 11:20a. I haven't exactly figured out what we will do for that first night but I'm less stressed now than I was when they called and surprised me. Definitely not the same feeling as getting an upgrade even though they did offer us vouchers for future travel.

What airline are you taking in?

We're on Northwest. We get in at 2:35 pm. But probably won't make it to the resort until around 3:30 or 4:00. We're taking DME. I hear it takes awhile to get there. So we'll probably check in, eat and take off for DTD and hang out at Disneyquest. :yay: I figure we may as well kind of take it easy the first day, because we are going to have very full days afterwards.

Well I got our clothes all packed, but the rest of the stuff is still in a big pile. I'll do that later. I don't know why, but I'm not really feeling a sense of urgency to get it all done. I'm still really excited and can't stop thinking about Disney, but I guess because I've been looking forward to this trip for so long it doesn't really seem "real" yet. It still feels like it's just something exciting to look forward to in the future. Except that future is only 3 1/2 days away!!

::yes:: I know EXACTLY what you mean. I have been feeling the same way the past couple of days. I know I have a ton of stuff to do (started packing some, but basically, I just have a pile of stuff):rolleyes1. I don't think it will start feeling real to me until we pack the car. I guess I better get packing, huh?

It looks like alot of us are getting in on Friday. I hope to see you guys while we're there. I have my LGMHPC's too and I will be displaying them, so I can be spotted. It's been a lot of fun talking with you all and making new friends. I hope when we all get back from our magical vacations, we can still talk. I'll miss this. It has kept me going for the last 5 months, waiting patiently :rolleyes1 for our trip. Only 3 days left, guys and we will be out of here:yay:

Are any of you taking your email upgrade letter to check in? I guess I will take mine just in case. We are so excited!! Only 3 more days now!! I'm not to worried about which bldg. but i hope that it's not the very back. we are really going to enjoy the resort this trip. we will hit the parks first thing in the morning, and then come back to the resort. we will be checking in around 7pm Friday. our first free dining meal will be at Wolfgang Pucks, or the artist pallette. we are so looking forward to all the free dining!!! hope to see ya'll there!!!
have fun!

well we leave tomorrow night so I should be excited but.today while I was cleaning my 3 1/2 yr old fell and hit the front of her head and has a huge goose egg.I panicked and called the dr and they said that I could take her to the ER or keep an eye on her for a couple of hours.Shes acting fine but I'm going to take her into the dr office in a couple of hours just to make sure shes ok.I'm so paronoid that she could have internal bleeding altough I thinkif there was something wrong she wouldn't be acting normal.I hope she ok.I let you know later how she is doing.
Laura

Oh no, I hope your DD is ok! Those goose eggs can look so scary, but they are usually no big deal. Whenever there is a bruise on the head, there is no room for the blood to go under the skin, so it pushes outward. When I had a mole removed from my hairline they injected so much anesthesia under there that it gave me an ostrich egg! Best wishes to your DD, I'm sure she'll be fine. I have been so terrified of getting hurt right before we leave -- I'm such a klutz!

I called WDW today to make sure they know we're arriving at or after midnight, and also to make they had our request of being in the Grandstand or Springs sections, and to tell them that a rental company is delivering a wheelchair earlier in the day before we arrive. It looks like we're all set! I hope they can get us in one of those sections, because we don't want to have to push my 6'4" brother on an extra 15-minute walk every day just to go to the pool or food court! Between him and my stroller, I apologize in advance for anyone whose way we get in. Three more days, I can't wait!!

I am not bringing the upgrade email. Every piece of information we have says SSR on it, and every time I call they have the upgrade in their system, so I'm not worried about it. One less piece of paperwork to keep track of, y'know?

I talk to the Dr office a few minutes ago and they said that I can bring her in but they couldn't do very much except tell me to keep and eye on her for the next 24 hrs.and they they gave me info over the phone on what to watch out for.I don't know if I should take her in its a 45 minute drive each way plus 85$ that my insurance won't pay for. They said it was up to me:confused .Of course 1 min I think I'm going to go and then I change my mind.
Were leaving tomorrow evening to go to a hotel andovernight and then off to the airport at 4am.So at least that will give me 24hrs to keep an eye on her.
Lizziemom-Do you think I should take her or just wait?

If I were you, I would just have her put ice on it to get the swelling down and I would not take her in. You said she seems fine, right? Just watch her closely, and if she starts acting weird, slurring her words or falling asleep when you know she's not tired, or showing any of the signs the dr's office said to look for, then I'd take her. Otherwise, it doesn't sound like the dr. is too concerned or will be able to do very much.

I understand how you feel especially with getting ready to leave. My brother did this once when we were playing tag in the dark:cool2: Yea not to smart were we. Mom took him to the ER all they did was send us home with instructions to wake him up every 2 hours. He is fine- or at least that is what they tell us LOL.
But my DS17 did have a concussion from bumping heads then the ground in a soccer game. If the doctor's office is still open and they can get her in I would rather be safe then sorry.
Hugs,

Oh no!! That is awful and I hope she is fine. Sounds like if you watch her at home you can avoid the trip to the doctor/ER. I would ice her noggin and give her some pain meds (tylenol or motrin). Keep an eye out for unusual activity; vomitting, dizziness, etc but I bet she is ok. I panicked last week when my son was climbing barefoot and got his middle toe pierced by a small metal hook on a piece of furniture. He was stuck and couldn't get loose by himself. I got his toe unhooked, saw it was bleeding heavily and then took him to the ER where they gave him a bandaid and me a bill$. I was all worried about him needing stitches and all the walking we would do in WDW. But after all that he's just fine and I could've saved the $/time.

Trust your instincts. If they say that you want her looked at by a doctor then I say go with that. Or if you are feeling that she is doing fine and doesn't seem to have any ill effects (beside a lump) then keep her home and watch. I'm so sorry this happened so close to your trip. Nothing like adding to the stress.

Hugs :grouphug:

I have been watching my kids like a hawk and hardly letting them outside until our trip, because I don't want something to happen! DD3 has decided she likes dancing, but the only place good enough for her to dance is on the couch. Never mind that I moved the furniture so she has the ENTIRE living room rug clear to dance on... nope, it's gotta be on the couch. And her "dancing" involves a lot of bonking and bouncing and falling down. That girl is going to give me a heart attack! I was very nervous when my dad took them to the park last weekend, because he's not the most attentive person and DD3 is a daredevil. He did say she climbed up a ladder that curved around and was about 6 feet tall and he held onto her the whole time. I'm so glad I wasn't there to see that! Knowing me though, I'd be more likely to injure myself right before the trip than the kids would. I'm the one who broke my arm last year at Universal on the first day of vacation... standing still! I fell off the moving sidewalk. D'oh!

Laura, is your DD feeling better yet? I can tell you from experience that her head will probably turn a nasty shade of dark purple, but as long as the swelling goes down by tomorrow that's a good sign, it means it's not bleeding anymore and is healing. It sure is scary though!

My DD is acting fine and doesn't seem to be bothered one bit.She has eaten and has been up since 6am and hasn't taken a nap at all.I think that a good sighn.I decided not to take her to the Dr office because the nurse said all they could do was look at her and them send me home with alist of what to watch out for. They can't do exrays there and they said the ER would only do them if she was having symptoms.Hopefully the bump will go down tomorrow.I just have to watch her while she sleeps. I haven't decided if I was going to sent her to pre-k tomorrow or just keep her home with me.The only thing with that its her last day before we go to WDW. Sorry for the rambling on.BTW it is almost 95 degrees here and its so hot.Disney is just going to be hotter. Its seems like there calling for rain the next few days on Orlando.Hopefully it will be dry for the P&PP friday and monday night.
Laura

I'm glad she is okay! It's always so scary when the little ones get hurt. My DD3 scrapes up her knees almost every day, I swear that girl has scabs on top of scabs. Freaks me out every time, but she's just like, "Yeah I was running, I fell down, I cried, but it's okay." Kids!

It's so hot here too (Kansas City), 97 right now and it's actually cooled off since last week. It's not as humid as FL though. I like the 4pm rain showers in Orlando, it helps to clear out the parks. I don't mind if it sprinkles during the P&PP on Monday, maybe people will decide not to go if it rains early in the night? I remember the very first party back in Jan or Feb, I read on here that it rained so hard the place was nearly empty but then it cleared up and was great. I hope it doesn't downpour though!

A couple years ago I was at WDW while there was a hurricane - I forgot the name, something with an O - sitting right off the coast for several days. The parks were SO empty and the weather was so nice - warm but breezy with soem cool misty rain. As long as the hurricanes don't get too close, it's a great time to visit. Then again I lived in FL for over 15 years so hurricanes don't freak me out as much as some people. I'm more afraid of tornadoes because you can't see them coming and get out in time.

Today has been a very long day, it seems the closer we get the longer the days are stretching out! When I'm at work, I just keep thinking of everything that still needs to be done at home. When I'm at home, I just think of everything I need to do at work. I haven't actually been getting either done! I just want to GO GO GO already!!

My daughter (2) woke up today and had a fever and has been throwing up all day. We leave on friday for WDW. My DH was like atleast she gets sick now and hopefully feels better by the time we leave on Friday.

Oh no! Give that child lots of chicken soup and love, and I hope she feels better by Friday. Are you flying? It's so awful to fly when you're sick. Best wishes for your little one.

Sorry to here about your DD.I have my DD to worry about in the next 24 hrs.
(she has been fine so far) so I understand the added stress.Hopefully the rest of your family doesn't get sick.My older DD got the stomach flu 3 times in the last yr once the day before christmas and I thought the rest of us would get it but we didn't catch it. Good Luck hopefully it will be over by tomorrow.

lizziemom-What is your family wearing for the P&PP? Were going as:
Me(laura)Tinkerbelle costume(the one from disney website)
DH:Pirate shirt(hopefully he can find the mickey pirate hat at the POTC store)
DD(3)Belle
DD(6)Sleeping beauty

hopefully I'll be the only Tink(except for the parade and foreworks)I really wanted to be cinderella but they didn't have it in my size.

We got the car packed and my DH went to get a message and my house is clean. All I have left is to drop my dog off for boarding tomorrow, and just sit around and wait for my kids to get out of school.I think tomorrow is going to be the logest day ever. O wait I was going to do 1 load of :laundy: .So I guess I have something to do.
Laura

That sounds really cute for the P&P Party! I don't have a costume, but I have a really cute Snow White tshirt that I will probably wear. Or maybe my Tink shirt, I haven't decided yet. I will also be keeping my eyes peeled for a new tshirt if I find something I really like. There was a great pirate girl tshirt at the Disney Store a couple months ago, it was white w/black stripes and a rhinestone pirate skull on the front in white & red stones. Very nice, but it was pretty expensive. By the time I decided I really did want it, they didn't have my size left, only XS which I haven't been able to wear since I was about 12!

DD8 is going to dress as a pirate - she wants to look for the pirate Mickey ears too - and DD3 will be either Snow White or Sleeping Beauty. Probably Snow White since she wore her Sleeping Beauty dress to the P&P Party in Feb, and I want the pictures to look different this time. ;)

You're going to the Labor Day party, right? I will have to keep my eyes peeled for a Tink with a couple of little princesses!

No were going on friday night the 31st. we are going to the HDDR.We were going to go on monday but them my inlaws were coming in that day and I didn't want to attend the party with them.I know it sounds mean but when my kids are around there grandparents the kids don't want to be with us and it tends to hurt my feelings. We don't get to do many things like the party so its nice to have some family time alone.Maybe if I had a better relationship with my MIL things would be different. This is a typical conversation with my MIL:
She mentioned the other day that my 6 yr old was acting up and not listening when I went to get my hair done(the hair dresser told her) She said that the reason she acts up is because we(my DH and I)don't give her enough attention. She mentions this several times in the past and know that it upsets me.How does she know how much attention we give her.She sees her a few times a mths. anyways thats a typical comment out of her mouth. She never has anything positive to say about my parenting.Either we feed the kids to much or not enough or we don't let them eat right before we have a meal.A few yrs ago we were at the AK and were on the train heading for dinoland to eat and my DD who was 3 at the time wanted chips. We told her no and she started throwing a fit and all she did was cry and scream. My in laws kept insisting we give her the chips.needless to say that day was very stressful and everytime we eat in dinoland I think about it.Sorry here I go rambling again. I gotta go watch big brother.
Laura

I know exactly what you're saying about the in-laws. My DD's grandparents are the same way. Think of the mom from Everybody Loves Raymond and you're halfway there. I totally don't blame you for wanting to do the party with just your own family! We're getting in too late on Friday to do anything that day, darn it! but that's the only way we could do it unless we arrived on Saturday and I didn't want to do that. At least we'll be nice and rested (hopefully) for our first full park day on Saturday!

DD8 said tonight that she is already too excited to sleep. I have to agree! Thank goodness for Ambien, or I'd have been awake all week.

OMG we leave today and I'm still not excited.I feel like I'm going to throw up any minute now.Plus my stomach has butterflies doing flips(not a good feeling).I was worried about my DD head all night. She woke up this morning on her own and has no problems. The swelling has gone down a lot.I take that as a good sign. She does have a huge bruise that will show up in all are pictures. The main thing is that she's ok. My 6 yr old is bouncing off the wall with excitement. She has her first test in school today and I hope she can concentrate. I printed out our boarding passes and checked us in. All I have to do is sit and wait till 3:00 when my girls get out from school. What am i going to do the next few hours?
