WWYD? offered free upgrade

Yep, I got the upgrade from 8/31 - 9/09. I think they may just have run out of rooms available for the upgrade. The offer did say there were a limited amount of rooms available (or something to that effect). I say keep trying, as it gets closer to the final due date for payment there may be some cancellations. Good luck!

Our ressie is from 8/26-9/5. I agree with the pp

Doesn't hurt to keep trying, though!!! Good Luck.:thumbsup2

Looks like 8/26 is the first day people are going to be at SSR enjoying there free upgrade.

Ok, whos coming home first? calypso*a*go-go?

Ill be there on the 9/1 So I wont even be here to hear about the details.
But other will, so let us know please!

I also got a post card in the mail to get a value discount. $59.00 a night!
So DH got the upgrade then they sent me the value resort discount pin code!
Its so cute! It has Huey, Dewey and Louie with there suitcases.

That would of been great if we didnt already get the upgrade!

Its a good idea to be registered with 2 emails. So you  have a better chance of getting an e-mail or snail mail discount!

Our trip is from 8/26 - 9/4 and we got the upgrade for the whole trip. Keep trying - you might just get lucky one day! And by all means - make your husband call ;)

maybe those coming in on the 26th got the upgrade that's when we come in.

it can't get here quick enough! 60 more days for me!! i will be @ SSR in a 1br on aug. 31st. i can't wait!! there's so much to look forward to - free dining, free upgrade!!! i'm looking forward to reading the thread on, "how's was your free upgrade stay"? we are excited but can't wait to get back to pop century at the end of Sept.
Mousiemom

It was people arriving between 8/26 and 9/01. Not everyone with those dates, just some random arriving on those days, it doesn't seem to matter how long their stay is.

So is anyone taking a shorter trip and getting back by 8/31?? :confused3 I'd like to see what other upgraders thought before we leave.

Glad to see this thread resurface.I think we all must be busy trying to find new info on our resort upgrade. I thought maybe we could share some of the info we gathered or tips we will be trying since this is probably most first stays at a DVC
I'll start.
1)It doesn't matter what building or section you get put in because most every person has different needs and desire. Some people say they like to be far away from the action and some will want to be close to the main blding or bus stop. You won't know what room your getting till check in. If you don't like the room you get go back the next day and asked to switch when a room opens up.
2)The stores in both OKW&SSR have alot of food to buy to bring into your room.(I called OKW store because we need soy milk for my DD and they don't carry it,so they said when we get there to let them know and they will get it from another resort that does carry it)She also mentioned that they can do that with other items.
3)Transportation is probably easyest(is that a word)to take a direct route whenever possable. There are several bus stops in the resorts. It may save you time to get off/on a a bus stop the is not the closets to your building and save time not riding around a bus.

Tips:We are bringing 1 piece of lugage that will be filled with nonparishable food items for breakfast and snacks.(Cereal, poptarts, micro popcorn, powdered gateraid mix and so on)We will purchase milk at the resort with snack credits.
We are going to order water from staples. 48 bottle of nestle pure life with shipping comes to 21.00$.Thats about 48 cents per bottle compare to disney 2.50 a bottle.then we will pack suveneirs in the empty suitcase.

We also are going to bring bath salt and bubble for the whirpool tub to soak in after a long day at the park.
Hope this helps its just some of my thoughts. I would like to hear others thoughts so SHARE AWAY.

Laura,

You might want to check on the bath salt and bubbles for the whirlpool tub. When we were looking at getting a whirlpool tub for our house we were told that you could not use bubble bath in it because it messed up the jets. I'm not sure if this is the case but just thought you might want to check first.

It all sounds heavenly though. :cool1: :wizard:

I was going to say the same thing about the tub. My parents have a whirlpool tub and there are certain products you cannot use in it or it will seriously mess it up. I will ask them about it. I know they do use bubble bath, but I don't think you can turn the jets on with bubble bath. Also I believe the salts will get in the jets and ruin the tub. And I know you cannot turn the jets on until the water level is above where the jets are located -- it sounds like a "duh!" statement but it really is easy to forget!

The best way to enjoy a whirlpool tub is to just run the water a little warm until it gets just to the top of the jets, then run it nice and hot and turn the jets on and blast your cares away. Some tubs have a separate temp control for water that comes out of the jets, and some have jets that just shoot air.

We also are going to bring bath salt and bubble for the whirpool tub to soak in after a long day at the park.

Plan on buying a quart of bleach and running it through the whirlpool first. They do clean the tubs out, but they don't typically clean out the jets. Bacteria lurk in the jets. Fill the tub, run the jets, pour in the bleach and let it clean away. Drain the tub.
It will then be ready for use and safe for the whole family. :woohoo:

Our last house we live in we had a whirpool tub and we put in salt crystals that disinagtraed when they mixed with the water so you couldn't even see the crystal after a few moments.that what I meant by bath salts. We also used bubbles and we never had a problem.I will asked the front desk when we check in. Anyother tips or suggestions?

I have bath confetti. I think the kids will like it too! This just disolves.

Ya know its going to be here before ya know it!!:goodvibes

We still have one payment to make.

Do you think you could tell me how you ordered the water from Staples? Please?
Did you call or do it on-line?

TIA

Has anyone started threads for SSR & OKW updaters to get to know each other and possibly have mini-meets at each resort, or at least just to chat so maybe we can recognize each other in passing at WDW? I think the idea was tossed around earlier on this thread but I never saw anything come out of it.

I thought this might be fun, too, until I made the mistake of subscribing to the DVC boards thread called "Anyone else annoyed by the free upgrade?" It just never dawned on me when I got the upgrade email that it would make DVC owners upset. I really can see their side of the arguement, now. Does that mean I'll call Disney back and tell them to put me back at POP? No way because I can see the upgraders' side of the arguement, too!:goodvibes

That thread made me sufficiently uncomfortable, though, to even mention the upgrade when I'm at SSR. I have already told the kids that we are not going to mention our "pixie dust" to anyone when we are at WDW. Don't want to ruffle any feathers. :)

We're planning on wearing trenchcoats and sunglasses to hide our identities from the DVC owners!!!

I don't give a rip if the DVC owners don't like it. I've read the thread, and I understand the resentment, but I don't think it's towards us, more towards Disney. They are afraid their dues will go up, and feel it's unfair. Well, there have been a TON of times I've seen others get upgrades/codes/pixie dust on here and I didn't get it. That's what makes it special for those who do.

I plan on enjoying my vacation to the fullest, just as I would if I had not gotten upgraded. Probably even moreso!

So whos going to get to enjoy the free upgrade first?

Im assuming someones going at the end of August???

Well, I hope to hear all about it as soon as you get back!:)

My family will be there on the 2nd day of the upgrade group (Aug. 27) and I'll write all the juicy details when I get home.

How did you feel about the posts that talked about enjoying their high income and the class of people who stayed in values? I'm sorry, but please come visit my home and meet my family before you make judgements like that - I love the values - I also love staying at luxury hotels and we do about 25% of each.

I'd also be happy to bring our tax return for anyone to inspect to see if we're worthy LOL

Having said all that, I still feel bad for the DVC owners who are paying more in dues than we're paying for our stay, but again, this isn't a typical time we'd like to be at WDW and something like this would never happen during the busiest season.
