WWYD? offered free upgrade

I didn't get it either. We are booked at POP 8/26-31. Boy would I love an upgrade to SSR or OKW. CAn I become part of someone's grand gathering?? haha.

I am staying later in September and no upgrades for any of us at the end *YET*. But I personally think thats rude nutsforgolf! You didnt get the email.. so didnt lots of others! Deal with what you have and move on. Now, I would excited beyond belief if we got upgrade for our stay, but if not, I am just thankful I have 12 days with the mouse at ASMo. IMHO...

Well said. So many people can't just be satisfied with what they have. They booked it that way in the first place, you would think it would be something they like. Sure I'm thrilled that we got upgraded, but if we didn't I'd still be thrilled to have a 10-day vacation to WDW. If I hadn't gotten the upgrade and wasn't on these boards, I would have no idea that anyone else got upgraded and wouldn't give a flying fig. It's just a lot of petty jealousy.

I've seen a ton of upgrades and/or codes mentioned on the DIS that I didn't get. 30 years of going to WDW and this is the VERY FIRST upgrade or special pin code I've ever gotten. Did I raise a big stink all the other times that other people got something I didn't? NO! I just thought, oh how nice for them, and got on with my day and never gave it a second thought.

For those who got the upgrade -- congratulations!! A little bit of pixie dust has come our way, and we should be thankful for it.

For those who did not get the upgrade -- congratulations!! You are on your way to Walt Disney World, and you will have a great vacation exactly the way you planned it. Perhaps some pixie dust will come your way at some point during your trip. Pixie dust is a lot like love: it comes when you are least expecting it and not looking for it, and in unexpected ways.

Either way, have a great trip.

For those who didn't get the upgrade check your bulk mail and maybe try calling because some people emptied their bulk mail not knowning it was in there! The reservation people have the pin linked to your reservation so it is worth a try...

I don't think you can add another family member/friend after-the-fact to try and qualify everyone for the upgrade because in our case we didn't have the pin code but DSIL did and the only reason we were allowed to upgrade too is because it was already stated on both reservations that our two parties were traveling together.

I am a DVC member and I booked 2 standard rooms at ASMo for 8/26-8/29 because it is such a value and I don't have to use up my points and I received the email and now we have 2 1 bedrooms at SSR.

Same here! Only in our case, we didn't have enough points left to cover two rooms so my family could stay together...that's why we booked at POP. OKW is my home resort, so I'm especially thrilled to be staying there.

As I've mentioned previously, we ended up w/studios because the 1bdrms were gone by the time SIL realized she had the code. I've been calling every couple of days to see if any have opened up. My family is going to stick with the studio -- but SIL would really prefer the 1bdrm. Plus having a washer/dryer we can all use would really cut down on the clothes we need to pack.

Does the resort do anything special for birthdays or anniversaries?
Can I call head and set something up like a cake our something like that?

Wow I thought this was a friendly forum. I stated I didn't get a free upgrade asked how to get it and people write me and others shouldn't be complaining. I was just looking for info.Hey glad you got an upgrade and glad were going to Disney but geese didn't need the comments!

Hey Disney Dreams try to call reservations and ask if you have a pin attached to your name. As long as you are booked during those dates you have a good chance. Keep trying. I received my dream email last Monday afternoon and I booked a 1Br Villa @ SSR around 5:30 that day and I received my new upgrade info in the mail yesterday. Oh, and the next morning I booked my inlaws their 1 br cause they are traveling w/us and they also had a room booked @ POP!

Man, in reading this thread I've come to 2 conclusions:

1) There are going to be a LOT of happy people (from this thread) when they get a load of their villas.

2) I predict a HUGE spike in DVC buy ins between July and September.

For DVC members, there's a whole menu of "member stuff" you can buy (from wine and cheese picnics to movie night packs, etc). I can't see why they wouldn't offer a similar "menu" to cash guests. I'm pretty sure the front desk will work with you to get something arranged....just give them a call and they can direct you to whoever you need to talk to.

Mousiemom, did you receive your email on Monday, June 4?? I didn't realize they had the offer that long. Before this the first email I heard about going out was on Thursday, June 7. Just curious...Thanks.

I think what probably caused the glitch is when they allowed so many large parties to upgrade along with the person receiving the email (and yes -- I'm guilty by association!).

Keep trying though as a lot of people still haven't paid their packages in full yet and I think the cut-off date for the 8/26 check-ins is 7/12 (which is actually coming up pretty quick!). A lot of people booked to take advantage of free DDP (and then the free upgrade) but are still waiting for airfare to come down...which hasn't really happened and probably won't as I heard on the news this morning that summer flights are at 80-100% capacity.

I don't think it was a glitch so much as there were only so many rooms they set aside for the upgrade offer. It did mention in the email that rooms are limited and I'm sure they sent out emails to more people than they had rooms available, to ensure freeing up as many value rooms as possible. I don't think it really matters if the large parties upgraded (also guilty!). For example, our 3 rooms at ASMu became 3 rooms at SSR, it's not like we added rooms during the upgrade.

Maybe it has to do with my lenght of stay(13 nites) or that I already have a 1 bdroom booked. Has anybody made a switch at all?
Also I booked it on thursday has anybody got there confo in the mail? I only got a bill showing what we were credited.

i KNOW EXACTLY HOW YOU FEEL, it was 10:30 eastern time and Disney was closed and I couldn't call into change, I was up and waiting to call at 7:00 poised with phone in hand to make the upgrade call!! We will be at SSR 8/26-9/1!!! 8 of us, 3 adults and 5 kids 15,13,8,5,and 3!!!!

I received the upgrade email on Thursday and was able to call in that day to upgrade. We received a new "bill" statement in the snail mail yesterday (11th) with our new resort and $5.20 lower balance due. I tell you what, my heart was beating so hard I thought I would pass out while I was talking to the CM that night last week. I can't express how tickled I am to get this.

blessdmommy- just saw your response and I was when you mentioned how you felt while talking to the CM. I was the same way. I kept telling her I was going to have a heart attack and she said if I did she would call 911 for me.I just got the bill also yesterday so I wonder if the confo sheet that list the ME and all the other info will come soon. Can you let me know when you get yours. Where are you staying?
