WWYD? offered free upgrade

I must be crazy and obsessive, because after I upgraded to OKW, the more I read about it the more I wanted SSR. SO, I called this afternoon and switched all three of our rooms to 1-bedrooms at SSR. I can't believe they were still available!! I just think it fits our family much better, as two of us have trouble with stairs and they were able to get us into a handicapped-accessible room for my brother, who just had a knee replacement. Also we love counter service especially for breakfast, and OKW just doesn't really have what we needed. Also having lived in FL for 15 years, the look and feel of OKW didn't look "vacationey" to me, it looked like moving back to my old neighborhood.

Hopefully this is the last change we will make, I am VERY happy with it! For our three rooms, this is a free upgrade worth $8383.50!! How can you not love Disney??!?

It is just me and DS too, I took the upgrade to Saratoga, we will be there from 08/26-09/01 and were booked originally at movies in a preferred room, hopefully that will translate well at Saratoga.. They are having problems getting it booked though, I have been on forever with my rep, but he is very kind :)

Same happened to us too. We just got a free upgrade to SSR or OKW . We were booked at Movies Preferred for 8-31 thru 9-7. Just called to reserve OKW. There are 12 of us in our group. So I figured, why not? I'd rather get a deluxe than a value (even though I was very, very excited about ASMo). It took me an hour to book the rooms (3 studios), but I didn't even care. I am looking forward to a little but of luxury. This is our first trip, so I feel like we're getting pampered. :woohoo: :woohoo:

Just upgrade my Dsis and our 2 daughters trip in August from ASsports to SSR - 1 bedroom....YEAH! :cheer2:

Here come the questions.....

Can we get refillable mugs at this resort? If not I might just have gardengrocer deliver some breakfast foods, soda, milk, snacks to the resort. What about Coffee, is that available in the room, or will I need order that also?

How's the transportation to the parks? I looked at the map and it looks like just one bus stop...Is that correct?

What is the most convenient area to request? We will probably use the pool mid-day and if mugs are available, I would prefer to be closer to the drink station than the bus station.

keep the info coming!!!!

Yes you can get refillable mugs at the resort. There are currently 2 (maybe 3??) refill stations, one by the main pool and one in the food court. Not sure about the 2nd pool area in the grandstand section. Haven't heard.

Trasportation is just like any other Disney resort, hit or miss at times but for the most part good. No rhyme or reason for transportation at any resort.

You would want to request the springs section. Remember requests are just that and not guaranteed.
There are 5 bus stops, Grandstand, Carosel, Paddock, Congress Park and the Springs. I do believe in that order too.

Mine has.

Thanks, I just found it correct in the section where you enter your reservation number and phone number. It doesn't show up on the main page when you first log in and click on your itinerary (which shows a picture of the hotel with the dates).

It must be fine - I need to calm down - how am I ever going to wait 80 more days? :dance3:

Keep in mind since this is a DVC resort and there are cooking facilities, the store does stock grocery items. (All DVC stores do). You'll find all of the necessities and even frozen items. (Of course the prices are not going to be the standard ones you find at home). Since you are staying as a regular Disney guest you will get your daily coffee refills for your coffee pot and can ask for more if you need them. You could check out the grocery delivery service, but you do have the free dining, so you really won't eat much in your room. We are DVC members and buy the DDP and always pick up a ton of snacks and breakfast items, and barely use them and give them to housekeeping on our last day. Congratulations on your upgrade.

BTW, you also have boat service to DTD or could walk.

(even though I was very, very excited about ASMo)

You can stay there for your next trip and have no trouble booking it, it is an exciting place - we loved it. I stayed there at the beginning of May (first time on property) and I was really skeptical with all the "it's a Motel 6 with a theme" comments, but it was very nice and very clean and had beautiful grounds.

There's just no comparison with having a refrigerator and a washer/dryer in your room though. You can pack less, you don't have to deal with all the sink/counter/closet/space issues. You can bring back left-overs from your DDP. You can maximize your snack credits by getting large cartons of milk and OJ and donuts.

ASMo is hectic, especially the food court in the morning. It will be really nice to have a quiet place to start and end the day. Also, the busses - ASMo is the last stop, and in the evening, you feel like you're never going to get back to your room. It sounds like the busses have direct routes to and from SSR and OKW.

Did you ALL book thru WDWTRavel - website/phone

Anyone with an upgrade book thru AAA or Expedia or Travelocity or thru another TA service such as DreamsUnlimited or Leisure?

Just curious for next year ;)

I booked on the phone with Disney. Rumer has it that only those who booked through Disney get the upgrades.

Booked by calling Disney directly on the first day Free Dining came out for Disney Visa Cardholders.

Does anyone know if the refill mugs are the YOAMD ones? I want to get one.

Booked with Disney over the phone on the first day free dining was offered to general public.

O.k. I just tried to do my upgrade and was told I would loose my free dinning offer. I have read a few of these posts and saw were some of you had a CM looking into this. Did anyone get both and if so what did you have to say to get them both? If not is it worth it to stay at these resorts and then pay oop for food? when they switch us will I lose my ADR and need to re-book. I so want to stay at the nice resorts but food was not budgeted in since we would have DDP.

You are NOT supposed to lose your free dining with this offer. I would call back and get another CM.

It appears that people booked in the first week of September were the people who are getting the upgrade....

Congratulations to all my fellow Dis'ers!!!!!:thumbsup2
