WWYD? offered free upgrade

This happened to my parents on there Dec trip upgrade from pop century and they didn't evan get a sales pitch they were happy about the upgrade since they had grown acustom to DVC style vacations with us.

I'm not sure but I do believe they are not able to transfer a PIN to anybody else's name.

I received mine @ 4:30 yesterday and got right on the phone w/the CM and I was his 1st call about it. I was in a pickle because my inlaws are also joining us on this free dining trip and they had a room also @ POP! I feel so bad but being the awesome inlaws they are they said this is a once in a lifetime opp. take it!!! I'm going to try to book a room for them too. We got the 1br villa @ SSR. I asked if we had to go listen to a DVC spill and he said no strings attached!! We just got back from POR in May and we would ride past this resort everynight and I would just think how nice it would be to stay there and my dreams have come true!!! I am so excited!!! Now, I have to do my research on SSR/maps and all. Just a little info: I booked our free dining when it came out, and I haven't paid it off yet. We are AP holders so we only had to pay for a one day park ticket and value resort rate for this trip which was about $669 so we are feeling pretty lucky right now and I am considering this a "dream".

I called this morning and told the guy, I don't care which resort we get as long as we are all together, because we have three rooms booked, and can we please upgrade to three new rooms with at least one being a 1-br? It took a while, but he got us into THREE 1-br villas at OKW. I am so excited!! This is already the best vacation ever, and it's still 2 1/2 months away. I also told him I was very excited a couple years ago when I got upgraded to a preferred room at POP, and how is Disney going to top this one? I was late to work this morning because the phone call took a while to do all three upgrades, but it was so worth it! AND we kept our free dining and saved $5 on each reservation... how does that happen? I'm going to have to look up what the cost would be if we were actually paying for OKW, I'm sure I'll go into shock.

They can't transfer the pin code to someone else's name, unfortunately. You just have to be one of the random ones selected to get the email. I actually had a little trouble, because the email came to my dad and our bookings are all under my name, but after asking a ton of questions the CM finally found it under my dad's name and my address, so we were able to book. Keep checking your email, maybe you'll get one!!

That is great news!! but you do realize that the rooms will not be side by side. The layouts at DVC resorts are done a little different. It's usually a 1 bd room, then a studio, then a 1 bd room (they do this so that a 1 bedroom and a studio can become a 2 bedroom if they need that size). So hopefully you all are near one another. This is a great deal never the less.

Wow.. I had heard about this last year (values getting bumped to DVC) but didn't think it would happen again!

It appears that most of these emails are going out for the late august/early september trips... is this correct? Has anyone received an email with arrival dates around the 8th of September?

What a nice treat this would be for any family! I have to agree though, I'd be on the fence... strictly because of the Dinning options. I love having a food court and being close enough to refill my mugs or grab a snack. Thats rather tough to do at these DVC resorts. BUT... If I was able to swing a 1-bedroom at OKW or a studio at SSR... I think I could handle it

That's fine, I don't need to be right next door to my parents anyway. I just wanted to make sure we were all at the same resort. For some reason they have us booked as a Grand Gathering even though there are only 7 of us, and the CM said that is to make sure that they keep us all near each other, at least in the same building.

Is there such a thing as a preferred location at OKW? Since we had a preferred room on our original reservation, I was wondering if that made any difference in the upgrade.

Irishhockey: The email stated that it was sent to people who booked a value between 8/26 and 9/01. Unless free dining sells out for the following week as well, I doubt they will expand the arrival dates. But you never know!!

We are booked for free dining from 8/26 to 9/2 at Pop, but we are also DVC members. We did not receive an email.......I'm wondering if they excluded current DVC members from this offer???

Has anyone who owns DVC received this email?

Did you try explaining to the CM that you are travelling together? That worked for others and they were able to change the other room from Pop to SSR too even though the offer was for only one room/family in their group. A little smoozing may work.

1. I read SSR has a food court and OKW does not, is this correct?
2. Is the SSR food court far from many of the rooms?

I've been wondering about the TA thing too. I almost booked our trip myself. I usually do, but decided to go the TA route this time. Anybody who got the email booked with a TA?

Just got an e-mail to get upgraded to Sarasota Springs for free!!

We told DH parents to stay at the ASMU with us. At least they got the free dining out of it. I dont want to leave them. Disney wouldnt upgrade them. Maybe he (Papa) got the e-mail too! That would be cool!
