I have just started reading Disney forums. We got the upgrade today and we booked with a grand gathering. But we were the only ones in our group to get the e-mail and the upgrade. We are so excited. If you get this e-mail you should upgrade because...you may like Pop (or other value resort) a lot, but you can go there again, how many times will any of us have enough money to go to the nicer resorts. It is a great deal!

I couldn't believe it when I read the email...and then I was BUMMED because I was told we were the only family out of the 3 in our Grand Gathering that were able to move. Not much of a gathering if one family is in a totally different resort....so - I hung up. DH yelled at me and said this is the ONLY time we've ever gotten a code. So I called the other 2 families and they said to take it.

I called back and asked to speak to a supervisor - I said we have a grand gathering and I want to book all 3 of our rooms with this offer...and after about 10 min on hold - THEY LET ME DO IT!!!

I moved all 3 of our grand gathering families from ASMu from 8/27-9/3 to 3 -one bedroom villas at OKW! I CAN'T BELIEVE IT!!! I'm getting OKW, all -inclusive (free dining) for 2 adults and 2 kids for under $1000!!! We have some old park tickets to use up so we only needed 1 day tix.

Congrats to everyone else who got it!

Well, It's offical for us. I really thought that the first email was a hoax. I was going to erase it but then I said to my self why would they have our name and vacation dates. So I called and low and behold the pin was valid.
So to make a long story short I had to call twice but, I'm in SSR 1 bedroom. All for the same price of a stay at Pop standard.

How can you ask for anything more.

well... we were "sneaking away" with only our daughter to take advantage of the free dining in August. Leaving the 2 older kids to do their own thing (One going to Scotland, the other camping) I was feeling kinda bad because all 5 of us wouldn't be together on this trip, but was "dealing" ok. We WERE going to stay at ASMo, because, this was a budget trip and our daughter (4 years) would love to see all the big things and we can't usually stay at a value because there is 5 of us. WELLLLLLL.... today I recieved an email to call Disney with a special code... we were upgraded to Saratoga Springs!! Ummmmm.... feeling kinda guilty, excited, suspicious??, thrilled, well you get the pic! This is really cool, and it is going to make for a wonderful trip, however I wonder how high pressure it'll be to "purchase" DVC... it's something we want to do eventually, but not now. Does anyone know about this wonderful upgrade thing they got working? can you tell me if i need to bring ear plugs so i don't spend money i am not ready to spend yet?? is this real??? go ahead... pinch me!!

I don't think there is any rhyme or reason. Just luck of the draw. My only thought, we are coming down early, on 8/21. I wonder if they did not bother to offer this to people coming in before 8/26. I do have 2 reservations and my second ressy starts on 8/26.

We are arriving a day early too and so we spend the first night at ASMO and THEN move to SSR... we were told we could get there as early as 7 am and i plan on being there AT 7!! I am sooooooo excited... it'll feel so surreal going from Movies to SSR!! Sounds like we'll be there at the same days, only difference is we are leaving the 2nd! happy vacation!

Ok...just got a 1 bedroom at OKW and get this....they OWE us $2.40 for some reason? We even have a jacuzzi in the bathroom...not that we will use it unless we fill it with COLD water (we are coming Aug 26-Sept 1). The only downfall is that we are coming a day early (on Aug 25) because of cheaper airfare so we have to stay at POP for 1 night and then move all our stuff the next day. I just don't want to waste an entire day moving! Hopefully they have a solution so we don't waste time. I hope this is awesome. I was kind of looking forward to POP because of the cool pools and hopefully my kids don't fall in love with it the one night we stay there . I hope this is a good move...someone reassure me it is PLEASE!!!

I just got this email too! Actually my dad got it, and forwarded it on to me, because I'm the reservation maker in the family. We have 3 preferred rooms booked at ASMu right now, when I called for the upgrade they were already closed so I'll have to try in the morning. This is totally random, my dad got the email and I didn't, and I have booked under MY email every time, we don't even know how they got his email address! We booked on the first day free dining came out, we're booked for 8/31 - 9/09. My parents' room is booked on their Disney Visa (which may be where they got his email?) but mine is not. None of us are paid in full yet, but we sure will be tomorrow if they can upgrade us! I don't even care which resort, as long as we are all in the same one.

I really hope we can upgrade, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity for us. I'm too excited to sleep!!

Congrats on the upgrade!!! We received the same upgrade offer for a week stay over Easter week that we had originally booked at the Pop. We chose OKW because of the tropical vibe and were very glad that we did! It snowed in Ohio while we were there, so OKW felt even more tropical than normal! (We were told that our upgrade was a YOAMD prize.)

We did stay one night at the Pop before the upgrade. It was a nice value, but going from the Pop to OKW was like going from a neighborhood carnival to WDW! The one bedroom villa was beautiful, and our verandah looked out on the river, palm trees and a quiet pool. It was heavenly... very quiet and relaxing! The busses were timely and pretty empty...even during the Easter break! We always got a seat.

You should be very excited about the upgrades. You will love it!

Which resort would you all choose with a 2 year old boy? Old Key West looks more our style, plus it's closer..?? Are there any advantages to Saratoga that I might be missing out on? How are the pools?

I am still in shock from this offer I think...I was SO excited about getting POP, because I was first at ASMO...I have gotten myself so worked up about POP that I am just a little iffy about this offer...but the way it sounds is I should not pass it up!

I have another question for somebody who might know the answer...I have a preferred room at Pop...does anybody else who received this offer? I was wondering if I could downgrade to a regular room, THEN do my upgrade...it would save me around $80 I think...I know this is sort of cheating especially after disney was so nice to offer me this upgrade! Do you all think I should even try or do you think there are some sort of stipulations in the offer to not let me do this?

We started at ASMu and then I also was able to move to POP for our Aug 26-Sept 1 trip. We got the email today and I called it right away and then started questioning if we would like it, would the kids like it as much...I popped onto DIS boards while on hold with disney and read some good things, said a little prayer and dove in. They did give me a studio at first with a king bed and sofa sleeper and I asked about the 1 bedroom (which my cm didn't want to look for) but I explained that some of my fellow dissers had gotten 1 bedrooms and then had to explain what a disser was. He looked and we were upgraded. I then hung up and called back to see if I could request a certain area and she said if you orginally had a preferred room at POP then if you upgraded you would get a preferred room at OKW...unfortunetly we were not able to get a preferred room at POP because they were all sold out. Hope this helps you...now to find some pics of the rooms and pools! See ya at OKW in August!

I got a call today from Disney about the contest I entered for the AK DVC asking if I wanted more info. I said I'd wait until my daughter liked Disney or not first.. Maybe I should have said yes...
