WWYD if a waiter at a high end restaurant spilled drinks on you?

I am a server at an Applebees if we spill something on someone we have to tell management who usually goes and offers to pay to clean it or if otherwise make amends.

I thought that was a pretty standard thing everywhere:confused3

That happened to my mom's friend. The waiter spilled wine on his shirt and because my mom is good at handling things like that, the restaurant paid for the dry cleaning bill.

Sorry that happened to your wife.

I was at a restaurant last year and when the waitress brought me my food there was a little cup of ketchup and it slipped right off the plate onto my white shirt (I learned never to wear white after that when going out to eat). But the waitress told management and they offered to remove my portion of the meal off the bill and they offered to pay for my dry cleaning. The Mgr gave me her business card and told me to send her the bill.

Fortunately I didn't have to do that because I got the ketchup stains that were all over the front of my shirt out using Oxy Clean.

If there was indeed cherry in it and there was only a small stain that she did not notice until 6 hours later, I'm thinking that it was only a small spill and not like the drink was dumped all over her. Otherwise she would have known it was stained. Going by what you have said, I think it was handled well.

Now, had he dumped two large drinks completely over her, then an offer for cleaning and maybe a small discount (no more than maybe $5) would have been more than enough.

I used to work at a Steak and Shake. My first table out of training, I accidentally over balanced a milk shake on the table resulting in it spilling all over the table (but not the guests). The guy laughed so hard, he swept the second milk shake into his son's lap. I remember being absolutely terrified that they were going to yell. But they were a great table! I apologized up and down, told my trainer, and we got everything cleaned up and new shakes out to them. I don't think we took anything off their bill, and honestly, that was probably one of the biggest tips I have ever had.

OP...I think it's odd (sorry, no disrespect intended) that you feel the need to deal with your DW's incident. If she is upset about the spot/mark/possible stain and it has to be dry cleaned--tell her to call the manager of the restaurant to ask for re-imbursement of the cleaning bill. Non-confrontational doesn't equal braindead.:confused3

FWIW---it doesn't seem like a big deal to me. I'd probably just get it cleaned and move on. It doesn't seem like a big enough issue to take up much of my time.

I work at a casino and spilled HOT coffee all down a guys back. I was mortified. As I was grabbing this guys shirt to get it away from his skin before it burned him he was telling me not to worry- "**** happens". I could not believe he was so forgiving about the incident. We did get him a new shirt to wear from our players club and some lunch but he never even asked for either.

Accidents happen and its so refreshing to know there are some very forgiving people out there.

I would just get the clothes cleaned.
