WWYD: Can't hand out bday invites at school

That is how we did it when our children were that age. If you invited all the girls or all the boys you could hand them out in class, otherwise you had to mail or call.

A couple people told me that when I had the oft asked, "do I invite just her friends or the whole class?" question... inviting all girls or all boys seems so strange to me. She had a swim party this year, but even if she had something ultra-girly, we'd still invite all her friends, regardless of gender. In the end, when I asked her who she wanted to invite, the named 16 out of the 20 kids in class so I invited them all -- but some of the first names she rattled off were boys' names.

You are going to be mailing out the thank you notes so why not first mail out the invitations? A perfect way to do it although here pretty much everyone uses evite. Do you email addresses as well?

I did the same. I used the school directory for the invites and since there were email addresses, I just used evite invitations.

We have always received birthday invitations by mail. I can't imagine why anyone would think it was weird.

Winning! This is definitely how I would approach it if I had the opportunity and I LOVE it when we receive e-vites too!

It's better if you mail them anyways. You're never quite sure if the parent will get them if they are in a child's backpack.

I agree. Receiving by mail is my preferred method. Plus, kids love to get mail. I'd address the envelopes to the kids not the parents.
