At the end of the month, my boyfriend and I are headed to Epcot for one day for my birthday. This was our original plan:
Spend the day at Epcot, head over to the Poly, watch Wishes on the beach (org. scheduled at 8) have dinner at Kona at 8:30.

BUT, I just looked at the schedule posted on Disney's website and now Wishes is supposed to start at 9, which means no fireworks for me if we eat at Kona  So...do I trust Disney and try and change the ADR? My problem is that I really don't want to eat at 7 and have to leave Epcot so early. I also don't want to eat at 9:30. I suppose I could also make an ADR over at Epcot and watch Illuminations (I really wanted to see some sort of nighttime show!)

So what would you do? And no signature restaurant recommendations please! I/We don't want to spend that much.

I would absolutely trust what is posted on Disney's site.

I assume that you tried to get an ealier res at Kona ( say 730p ) and that it didn't work. Did you try Ohana's?

You can see the fireworks from any of the MK resorts so what about going to one of the other resorts for dinner? Whispering Canyon at WL or the Wave at the Contemporary?

Otherwise, a good alternative is Illuminations over at Epcot. You could also each at any of the Epcot resorts and go back into the park ( if you have a park hopper )

When I called originally they only had like 545, 830 or 945 available.

I really don't want antics during the meal which rules out 'Ohana and WCC. I think the Wave would be OK, but I'm not thrilled with the menu, I'd rather eat at the GFC or at a restaurant at Epcot. Honestly, I think I know too much about the restaurants at Disney and I'm being overly picky. I've yet to try Kona and I was really looking forward to it and now I'm bummed and sad and being stubborn. That and I haven't seen Wishes in forever and I don't think I'm going to see them on my longer trip this week so I'm just :(

As for the park hopper. I have an AP, but he's only going to have a one day pass. I was under the impression that as long as we left and came back into the same park he didn't need a park hopper. But it's been a long time since I used a base ticket, am I wrong?

Have you tried there? Great fireworks views!

Regardless of where you end up eating, happy birthday and think of all of us jealous-types who would LOVE to go to the parks for the day ;)

I've done the Cali Grill before, I really don't want to spend that much. There's no way he'd let me pay, so I feel kind of bad picking a signature restaurant.
