a lot has to do with the leader. My leader is a little nutty and very entertaining with her stories and such. It is a lot of idea sharing and praise and support. They are really helpful.
DITTO! I did WW meetings twice before, the first leader I don't even remember, but that WAS maybe 18-19 years ago! The 2nd leader I remember being nutty, energetic, and always with a story! (That was maybe 15 years ago!) I agree though, there is sharing and praise and support!!! :goodvibes This time though, I chose WW online, and use WISH for my support, praise and stories! For me anyway, the meetings are only once a week, whereas WISH is here 24/7! :goodvibes And I LOVE everyone here on WISH! :grouphug:

Onward and Downward, and A-WEIGH YOU GO! :cheer2:

Another "ditto" from me. I too am a WW multi-joiner (new word)! ;) I use both the WW meetings and WISH for support, praise and stories.

I love my WW leader now. She always ends our meetings by saying, "I'll see less you next week!" (Not a new one, I'm sure.) I've actually had this same leader one other time before, but she just keeps getting better. The main reason I keep going back to WW meetings is for the accountibility factor. (There's nothing like having another person weigh you in!) I also like the accuracy of the record keeping...another big plus for me.

Good luck to you! :shamrock: And remember, we're always hear to cheer you on too! :cheer2:

This is my first time on WW or any diet for that matter. I've never liked the idea of the meeting thing so I was ecstatic when I found out about WW Online. I love it. I spend my points for food, have a database where I can look everything up in seconds and it works really well for me because I am usually near a computer.

It must be working because I'm down 1 more pound for a total of 16.6 in 6 weeks. Good for you for trying again!

Keep losing!!

Well, I weighed in this morning, and for all my worries of being so bad last week, I am only up 1.5lbs, and that is with expecting TOM this week, so I didn't do so bad. I am back on track, and ready to go! Hope everyone has a great week! :grouphug: Thanks for all your encouragement, I couldn't do this with out you!

Same for me this week. Maintenance is boring. ;)

Best WISHes to everyone weighing in! :grouphug:

Hi everyone, I'm new :wave2:! I hope it's okay to join in! I just started with the WW plan again and hope to loose a minimum of 37.4 pounds total, by the time our WDW trip rolls around at the end of September! I'll take any support I can get :flower: .

I am feeling motivated and have already lost some, first 6.6 pounds in 4 days on South Beach. Then I couldn't stand that anymore and went over to WW and it's like a buffet with all the food I can eat now, I love it! That was one week ago today and I've lost an additional 2.2 pounds but then, blah, this morning happened!! I gained 3.3 pounds! Yikes! I just figured it over from kilos which is what they use here where I live, and that is alot! I just hope it's water and that it will come off tommorrow! I do know I will make it all the way to goal so I'm not feeling too badly but it is a mystery how the scale can fluctuate like that! Probably shouldn't weigh myself everyday, but it's hard not to!

OK everyone I tried WW on my own a while back (January to be exact) and did well but struggled after a vacation and have REALLY fallen off the wagon and gained back more than I'd have liked not to mention the fact that I'd hoped to be at goal by summer. I'm going in the WRONG direction. I can't do this on my own apparently so I'm going to WW on Thursday for my first meeting. Anyone want to tell me about their experience? I am a little nervous and have no idea what to expect. I understand the program very well but not what the meetings are like. I plan to visit here often and help to support all of you and hopefully have lots of good news of my own to report. :wizard:

Just wanted to add... if you don't like the first leader you meet, keep going to different meetings until you find someone you click with. My current favorite leader happens to be a tall, balding, late-60ish man. Kind of an "unlikely hero" but he is fun and funny and honest to a fault! I LOVE his meetings! But I have not been able to fit him into my schedule lately so I stopped going.... bad idea! So I've decided I will go WHENEVER I can and when I can make it to Hal's meetings, all the better! If you don't feel motivated by a leader, try another meeting with a different leader. It can make all the difference in the world!!..............P

Well I'll be joining this thread. Was doing South Beach and decided that WW is really the way for me. I did lose 10 lbs. this week on South Beach, but the results aren't worth the way I felt for the majority of the week. I'm going to be joining WW online (because the leader in our area who was great, retired and her replacement is just horrible). I'll report in next Monday after I weigh in.

:flower:

Had my weigh-in yesterday, another two pounds gone! I'm now at 20 pounds and can definitely feel (and see!) a difference, especially in clothes that are now getting baggy or clothes that were too tight now fitting.

Keep up the good work everyone!

I hear you on that! I have been a loyal WW for years (sadly!!)... Tried Atkins with DH in early 2003 and HATED IT! He continued on it until the present and still loves it. Then I tried SBD earlier this year. Again, not liking it at all!! I still had plenty of sugar cravings after 3 weeks and it was difficult for me. I am on the go a lot and found it difficult to find appropriate snacks to bring along. So back to WW I go!!

Pjlla - I found it quite easy, in fact. The problem I had was intestional. I also think that I won't want to eat meat or eggs for a while now. Never was much of a meat eater, but geeze.... WW has much more flexibility and I feel, in the long run, is the proper way to eat.

Well.... since I have been reading and posting here, I suppose I should officially join. I will try to be brief in telling my WW history.

First joined WW in 1979! Lost 30 pounds and keep my weight under control through high school and most of college.

Met DH at the end of college, began working in the real world and ballooned up some. Lost it before I was married and was a respectable 138 pounds on wedding day (Thank GOD! :cheer2: )

Post-wedding blues, no job, away from family, DH working nights.. up to about 180. Back to WW. Lost 30 pounds, but moved again and stopped attending meetings.

Working full time, DH still working nights, new house... weight back up to about 180.

Pregnant with DD. Gained weight. Kept it on for a bit but got down to a decent (but still overweight) 165-ish in 1996 (without WW).

Gained and bit more and then got pregnant with DS. Gained again. Back to WW when he was a baby and down again to decent (but overweight) 165 in time for his first birthday.

Life gets busy, kids in preschool, etc. Weight goes up. Back to WW, lose some weight, down to about 170, stop attending meetings, weight comes back on AND THEN SOME!!

Go to WDW in January 2002 (YEAH!)... look at pictures when we return and am HORRIFIED at how I look. Sad to say I was probably close to life-time, non-pregnant all-time high weight. But do nothing about it for a while.

January 2003.... DH and I plan a family trip to WDW for Jan 2004. I am DETERMINED that I will not be embarrassed to show the pictures from this trip. DH goes on Atkins and I (after a brief stint on Atkins) go back to WW. End of 2003 comes... DH down 65 pounds and I am down 40.4 pounds.

TERRIFIC trip to WDW, pictures are good, all is happy with the world. But I have lost my motivation to lose weight and spend the remainder of 2004 yo-yoing with the same 5-7 pounds even though I was still attending WW meeting regularly. End year up about 8 pounds.

New year arrives (2005) and one evening in January I have a adrenaline-pounding, heart racing, moment when I realize that I am heading back down that slippery slope of gaining weight again!! In that moment I determine that I will not let this happen again! I am NOT going to gain back the weight I have tried so hard to lose!! I will NOT see the 200 mark on the scale EVER AGAIN!!!

So I struggle with WW on my own for a few weeks (trying not to spend the $). Then I try SBD for 3 weeks. Some weight comes off, but I am NOT enjoying myself and I cannot see myself living like this for the rest of my life! I make the decision that I WILL find the TIME and MONEY to go back to WW. I am WORTH IT!

So last week I returned to the scales at WW. Overall I was down 7.4 from my last official weigh in last October. WHich puts me only about 2 pounds away from my most-recent overall low in January 2004. I am happy about that. And I will not be able to attend a meeting this week (this "part-time" substitute teaching this has turned into almost full time!!), but hopefully when I weigh in next week I will be back to my 2004 low and can continue to drop from there!

Thanks for sticking with me through my LOOOONG story. I hope I can offer encouragement and advise to those of you who are on this journey with me. ANd hopefully I can turn here when I need advise and help myself! Gotta love my DIS family! THanks all!......................Pamela

Well today's WI was alittle disappointing, but I'm not going to freak out over it. I gained .4, so I'm still at 48 pounds. I am SO getting my 50 pound clippie next week

Pamela: I loved reading your story. The funny part about your story is that it could have been mine. I go up and down all the time and start feeling good and lose my motivation. Not this time though!! Good Luck and keep posting, reading everyone's posts really keeps me inspired.

Welcome to all the "newbies" :cool1:

I was up .5 lbs this week after stating on this board that I was going to "step it up". I guess I "stepped it up" a bit too late for the last wi - - and Tom crept up on me that day also....but no excuses...I am ready for my next weigh in (I wasn't gonna even post the weight gain, but I read the previous posts that you have to take the good w/the bad & I figured that I need to be honest  )

Well, here is to everyone going weigh down this week!!!

Have a happy :flower:

Barbara

kayeandjim00 - I really hope you find a terrific leader. If you find yourself feeling as if you’re still missing something, and you don’t have the option of switching meetings, at least you know that we'll be here for you to lend support and encouragement when you need it! :grouphug:

Kim – :earboy2: All I have to say is that I cannot wait to be bored with you on maintenance! :jester: Just curious….how many points are you able to eat now and still maintain your goal weight?

Nuke, Shauna & Jules – Congrats on the losses! :cheer2: ANY loss is a good loss, nuke!

Jeanne, Barbara, and Teresa – You are my heroes! :grouphug: I only hope I can have the courage to “take the good with the bad” as all of you are doing! Your attitudes inspire and encourage me. Even if I mess up (and I WILL), I know that I can still find friends on this thread to pick me up. Lift those water glasses high, ladies, 'cause here’s to a GREAT WI next week for 3 of you! :drinking1 :goodvibes

 I’d like to say a big, old-fashioned, Texas “HOWDY” to our group who’s making the switch from South Beach to WW – Kristina, Kathy and Pamela! Good luck with the WW program! :shamrock: Glad to have you all on board!:boat:

Wow, everyone's posts this week are just so inspiring, and positive! There's a GREAT group of WWs here! :goodvibes :grouphug: Welcome to our newest WWs, too!

I'm back where I started, at 24 points/day, plus the 35 Flex. At first, it was HARD adding back 4 points, after being at 20 for sooo long, but I adjusted. ;) AND, I go over those points now, too. :earseek:

Keeping up with some exercising 3-4 times a week, and drinking my water seem to help. :sunny:

Onward and Downward fellow WWs!! :cheer2:

Welcome Pamela! I go to meetings in NH too - I think I had your leader Hal once on a Friday night in Nashua. I like the Weds. night leader best, but I also go Tues. nights depending on hubby's schedule that week.

Well, my weigh-in was bad this week. I was up 1.6 lbs. I felt "bigger" so I was expecting it. I don't think I did anything too bad last week - I am just such a slow loser! I am also pretty sick and stuffed up. I think that pound is in my sinuses! I am going to buckle down more this week and make better choices with my points: fruit & veggies. I tend to use only my allotted pts., but use them towards "good junk" alot: no pudge bars, light chips, smart ones moose tracks ice cream, etc. I just keep telling myself that I have lost 20 lbs. in 25 weeks - it just takes me longer!

My thyroid level is as low as it can get now also (without going hyperthyroid) - so no more blaming my weight fluctuations on that. Darn! ;)

Hang in there, everyone!
Kristi

Well after being on about a 3 week hiatus (waiting for the at-work WW to start and going out of town for a long weekend back on March 24th and not quite getting back on track right away) hopefully I'm back on track with a 2.6 loss for 12.4 total. Uggh, but I have so long to go. I just keep focusing on our October Disney trip as my first major goal mark though. Everyone keep up the great work!

Thanks for all of your advice. ::yes:: I'm going tomorrow for my first meeting :hyper: I'm nervous (about being weighed  ) and excited about a fresh start on my journey. WISH :) me luck and I'll be sure to report back on how it goes. I'll post here every week on my progress (got to think positive :teeth: ) and be here to support all of you. :goodvibes:

DznyDreams: Thank you, thank you. :flower: I'm doing much better this week....I have to admit that this board has become a tremendous tool in this weight loss challenge. Keeps me inspired & honest

KimRaye: I would also like to be bored w/you!!! What an accomplishment--- I think the hard part is actually maintaining - Good Job!! :teeth:

Welcome to everyone just joining & I hope everyone has a great week!!!

Barbara
