WW Weekly Weigh-in

Aren't those munchies a pain!!! Someone sent me an article in regards to diet and TOM and I thought I would share it here since it is a common complaint with a lot of us.

THREE WAYS TO WORK WITH YOUR HORMONES-NOT AGAINST THEM

1) During the first two weeks of your cycle your ovaries are not producing progesterone, which means your brain is not signaling you to eat more food to prepare for a possible pregnancy. These are the perfect two weeks to eat less without feeling deprived.

2) During the second half of your cycle, increases to your progesterone level stimulate the brain to crave sugar and carbs. So the best timne to train your taste buds to say no is before the progesterone spikes.

3) Exercise more during the second two weeks of your cycle. This will help derail your desire for carbohydrates during the progesterone surge. Keeping your carb intake in check during these 26 weeks of the year can make a significant difference when it comes to weight loss.

Tiggerlover, thanks so much for the tips! I will have to give them a try. I have been doing fairly well this weekend, so hopefully the WW scale will be nice to me this coming week. :wizard:

Congratulations to all of you losers this week.;) I haqve to second Tigger, Mik. Push the water and watch the sodium this week. If this trend continues, your MD may want you on a diuretic.

I was down 3.6 for a total of 34.2.

Have a good week everyone.
Beth

Wow, what an awesome loss for the week!!!!

It can't be repeated enough, but water intake and sodium make a BIG difference. I also wanted to add that diet soda does too. There was an article posted on the wall at Curves yesterday that said drinking even 1 diet soda a day may sabotage your weight loss efforts. If I can find the article online I will post it.

HARVEST, you are welcome. Glad to hear that the scale is being kind this week, good luck at WI.

Thanks Tiggerlover and MIdancemom. I have heard that about diet soda too, and lucky for me, I only occassioinally have a diet coke. I've never had to worry about sodium before, and never really found myself affected by it, but I guess I do now. I found myself kind of freaking out friday, feeling old, and falling apart. Took my blood pressure at my moms house and it was high- 156/78. Not awful, but I've never had high blood pressure. I worked my last day in CCU yesterday, and took my bp twice and it was less 110/70 both times, so I'm feeling better. I drank tons of water yesterday, and today went out for a bike ride, and am drinking water too. I haven't been much exercising at all the past few weeks, and now I'm on vacation, so I'm going to start the next 3 days with a bike ride also, and really watch the sodium and drink, drink, drink. The girls I worked with are taking me out tuesday night for mexican, and I'm usually a margarita with salt drinker, so I'm already planning to try one of those fruity margaritas instead. I'm off to the grocery store now with a healthy list in hand.

Hope you're all having a great weekend.

Sounds like you have a good plan, Mik, I sure hope you enjoy your vacation!

Well, I didn't go weigh in yesterday. Usually I go to the 9:30 meeting on Sundays, but I didn't sleep very well and couldn't make myself go. I'll have to go after work during the week. But.....

I went to the Dr. on Saturday, and I'm down another two lbs! I put on a pound last week so it was that one plus another. :) My Dr. was ecstatic because if I lose one more pound I'll be down 10% of my weight since I was last there in December. He only wants me to lose another 6 lbs, since I'm muscular, but I think it's probably closer to 10-15 that need to go. I'm not obsessed with a particular number, so I'll start 'maintenance' when *I'm* comfortable with myself. I'd really love to be down at least one more size though. (5' 3" and a size 8 right now. Unfortunately, all my weight is in my upper legs and butt)

As always, I'll keep plugging away!

Went to WI tonight since I have no other nights available this week. Down .2 of a pound(BIG DEAL), but at least I am still within 2 pounds of my goal weight. Next week I should make lifetime!!!:woohoo: :woohoo: This weekend will be a challenge because we are going to a wedding in Chicago, and spending time with my husbands family. They like to EAT!!! I am going to take lots of Fiber one bars, fresh fruit, and use the exercise room at the hotel. I am going to make it next week!!!:wizard:

Harvest02- Any loss is a good loss, and you're almost at LIFETIME!!!! How exciting. That's great motivation to keep in control over the weekend. I love those fiberone bars. Good luck!!

jenm2878-Congratulations. Almost 10% is awesome. It sounds like your doctor is very supportive of you. That's so nice.

Thanks tiggerlover, for your neverending support.

I weighed in yesterday and was down 4 pounds out ot the 7 I gained last week. I've bought lots of healthy food, and we are off to storyland for the weekend tomorrow. I rented the same condo I rented 2 years ago when I started WW for the last time. I brought all my food then am doing that again this time, and am recommitting to ww. It's just my son and me going, so that makes it easier. We'll probably only eat out one dinner, and pack a picnic lunch and eat breakfast in. I was hoping to be down 40 pounds but am only at 35.6, but if I stay on track, I can be close to the 40 by next week, averaging 20 pounds/year. I'm going to go look at our pictures from 2 years ago, and see where I never want to go again for motivation.

Have a great weekend everyone!!

Greetings and congrats to everyone for all losses!! (even .2!!)
I had my WI today and my total loss now is 25.8!!! I am so thrilled!!! I have 8 lbs to go for goal. Yay!!!! I know I can do it! Happy Labor Day weekend !!! :goodvibes

Hi fellow WWers! This last week of summer has been busy around my house and I haven't had much time to read the boards or post. I am pressed for time once again and do not have time to read, but wanted to check in and say hey to y'all and hope that everyone has a happy and safe Labor Day weekend.

Weighed in today (crazy yesterday and couldn't make it) but I am down 0.6, for a total of 42.4! Have a great holiday weekend everyone!!!

Good job VernRDH, every bit is worth celebrating!!

I have a question. I walked three miles today in addition to going to Curves and I want to calculate my exercise points, but now that I don't have eTools I am not sure how to do it. We walked for about an hour and 35 minutes. The first mile and a half was brisk, the next mile was mixed and the last half mile was at a walking pace. Can anyone help me calculate my activity points??? Thanks in advance.

I'm back from our little vacation, and I did ok in the eating dept. I made some good choices- egg beater omelette, and only ate half my dinner of chicken parm one night, but we did have ice cream a few times, but only one make your own sundae. Yesterday was a good day, and today I was within points and wrote everything down. Here's to a healthy losing fall.

Andrea_loves_Disney- Whoo hoo!!!! :cool1: 25 pounds is quite a milestone!!!!!!!:cool1:

VernRDH- congratulations!!!! Awesome loss to date!!!

Hey Tigger- A little late on the activity points, but if you figured the full 95 minutes at moderate exercise, and you weighed between 135-165, it would be 5 points. I usually take the moderate for walking and biking. I remember they said high intensity is pretty much serious running. The slider I have says low intensity, you haven't broken a sweat, moderate- you start sweating after 10 min, and high- sweat after 3-5 min. I bet you could get a points booster slider when you go weighin next time. I don't use the e-tools as much as I should. I just track my weight there, and look up the occassional recipe. It seems like you should have access to the etools as a lifetime member, but I guess not.

Hope you all had a great holiday weekend.

Welcome back, hope you had a great vacation. And doing "ok" in the eating department is so much better than falling off the wagon completely, so kudos to you. Thanks for the points info, I did find my activity slide rule hidden in one of my drawers. Interesting thing I learned though, I posted this same question on a WW blog and I was told that you can only utilize 4 activity points in a given day......have you heard that before? If that is the case I am over because I counted my Curves workout at 2 pts and my walk at 4 pts......guess that is why the scale didn't budge today. I have to weigh in this week and I am really sweating it because I have been so hungry lately and although I have been exercising my butt off I still do not see any progress in the scale at home....UGH!

Have a great week everyone!!!

Ok, holiday is over, time to get back on the wagon! I didn't do too bad this last week but I definately didn't follow WW. I think I just needed a break to see how much better I feel on the plan then off. The good news is that I didn't gain any weight on my 'break' but I didn't lose any either. TIme to buckle down and get back to it! I have 16 lbs until goal and I really want to have most of it if not all of it gone by our Dec. Disney trip. :thumbsup2

Good for you for not gaining on your break.....sometimes a break is just what the body (and soul) needs. 16 pounds in a little over three months is so doable....before you know it you will be at your goal.

Boy, do I know what you mean!!! Over the holiday weekend, I didn't write much down at all!! Doesn't help when you are away from home and not eating Lean Cuisines(we were in Chicago for a wedding, so that meant eating out every meal). It was very hard!! I was VERY afraid to step on the scale this AM, but only gained 1 pound which is still within my 2 pounds of goal! One thing I was very proud of was that I did use the exercise room EVERY day while I was gone at the hotel. I did the stationary bike and treadmill for at least 50 minutes each day. I am getting back on track today for sure since WI is on Thursday night!:thumbsup2 Good luck to all this week after the long holiday weekend! We can do it!:wizard:

At least it was only a pound....after eating out every meal it could have been worse. So you have proven that you have learned to make better choices since it wasn't more. And good for you for getting to the exercise room every day!!!

I was down 2 pounds at weighin this am, and this is my 3rd day completely on program and journalling. The leader talked about fall, and how there is really only halloween in the next 3 months to deal with, not like summer with all the cookouts and parties, and it's a great time to lose weight. I love the fall, and it is such a beautiful time to get out and exercise. My son started kindergarten today, so after he got on the bus, I walked to his school, about 1 mile, to see him get off the bus and go into school. I start a new job next week, and I will have time most mornings for a short walk before I go in, and 2 days/week, I go in at 10, and am planning to take a long walk. I want to get a good healthy routine going. The great thing about my new job is we are not allowed to eat at the nurse's station at all, and it is a fast paced outpatient unit, so there is not much down time to snack. My old job had a candy drawer at the desk, and there was always junk around. I'm looking forward to a healthy new beginning.

tiggerlover-Hi there. Only using 4 ap's does sound familiar to me, but I never get more than 3-4, so it's not been an issue for me. Hope that darn scale starts moving for you. Maintenance must be so hard, not to fall back into old habits. Do you always weighin the first week of the month, or could you wait and go later if you needed to lose a little more? It is probably better to go and weighin, even if you're up a little, pay the piper, and get back on track. Good luck this week.

Harvest02- Glad you saw such a small gain and still on the way to lifetime!!! Good for you for getting to the gym while away. That couldn't have been easy to do. Good luck tomorrow at wi!!!

jenm2878-I'm with you, summer is over, and back on the losing track we go!!!!

Have a healthy, losing week everyone!!!

 Mik! Congrats on the two pounds, that is great. And what a great idea walking to the school to see your DS get off the bus (and getting your exercise). How are you holding up? I know when my DS was of to K I had a harder time then he did.

I confirmed the 4 point activity point with my leader, it amazes me that after all of this time on the program I didn't know that!!! Maintenance can be hard because you are no longer pushing for a goal, you no longer get little stars or rewards, you are just living. I am supposed to weigh in at the first meeting of the month that I go to. I have been trying for three weeks to get back to where I want to be.....I am still within goal, but I am on the other side of it and I don't like it. I am losing the dang inches, but not the pounds! As silly as it seems, I want to be 5 pounds under goal....I have been trying since May and I have yet to make it there! I hope to weigh in on Friday or Saturday of this week so we will see what the official word is.

Have a great week and good luck with the new job.
