WW Weekly Weigh In--- Part 2

Made it through another weigh in. I'm down another 1.6.

:cheer2:

can you share the recipe when you get the chance? it sounds great.

I do not drain the tomatoes. I also used boneless skinless thighs and cooked more than called for. I doubled the entire recipe and that makes a lot.

Smothered chicken with barley (core)
1 teaspoon ground cumin
3/4 teaspoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon dried mint flakes
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
1/8 teaspoon ground red pepper
6 (4-ounce) chicken thighs -- skinned
1/2 teaspoon canola oil
Cooking spray
1 1/2 cups chopped onion
1 cup chopped red bell pepper
1 tablespoon low-sodium soy sauce
3 1/2 cups low-salt chicken broth
1 1/4 cups uncooked pearl barley
1 (14.5-ounce) can diced tomatoes -- drained
6 tablespoons chopped green onions

Combine the first 7 ingredients in a small bowl, and rub chicken with half of spice mixture.

Heat oil in a large nonstick skillet coated with cooking spray over medium-high heat. Add chicken; cook 1 minute on each side or until chicken is browned. Remove the chicken from the skillet.

Recoat skillet with cooking spray; add chopped onion, bell pepper, and soy sauce. Cook over medium-high heat 3 minutes or until vegetables are lightly browned. Add broth, barley, tomatoes, and remaining spice mixture, and stir well. Add chicken to skillet, nestling into vegetable mixture. Bring to a boil; cover, reduce heat, and simmer 55 minutes or
until chicken is done. Let stand 15 minutes. Sprinkle with green onions.

Wow- lots of losses this week- CONGRATS LOSERS!
I lost 0.8 lbs better than nothing I guess.
I am going to Miami next weekend and hope to lose a few more before we go, as it is going to be hard while I'm away. It is a work think (DH)- banquets and such- I will just try to make good choices and watch portions. That is about all I can do.

Do the best that you can. Healthy choices whenever possible and remember how it used to be. :thumbsup2 Have Fun!

Some great losses this week! I'll throw mine in, too. Down 3.4!!:cool1:

Only a Pound

Great loss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I shared your Only a Pound with some WW's I chat with, thank you !

I had my monthly weigh in yesterday and I am so happy that I am only .8 over what I weighed in December, not bad since I packed on all that weight over the holidays. I am down from my New Year's Day weight by 7.4 pounds, so I can not complain. Only 5.4 to go to get back to by 5 pound cushion.

:cheer2:

My WI was yesterday and I'm down 2.8 lbs! :dance3: I have to set my goal soon, I think I might do another 10 or 15 lbs and call it good for now. I think I may ultimately want to get lower, but I'm not sure. I could technically set it at 150, which would be 2 lbs, but I think I wouldn't do well to all of a sudden shift my focus like that. I've got all week to think about it, although I've been thinking about it for the last month and still haven't come up with a number....

Awesome!

Good morning everyone. I haven't been around lately and have miss this thread. I spend last week in disney world on the dining plan, and am now back on track. We got home wed night, and thursday i got right into on program and started tracking, and saturday weighed in and was thrilled to have stayed the same. Plus, the day before I left on vacation I had a 1.8 loss, so I thought for sure I would have gained that back. I did enjoy the dining plan, and because we had the refillable mugs, I'd always get a water with my meals, and that helped me to keep drinking. I stayed away from the fries, but did have many desserts, but didn't finish a chocolate cake because it wasn't worth it. That's not like me. We did walk a lot, and that really helped. My goal now is to keep tracking, and stay on program.

Wonderful! I fell off the WW wagon on out first meal with the cornbread :upsidedow so I am inspired by you.

Tonight is WI and I am nervous. We had a death in our family and while I thought I would be fine, at the reception there was nothing but comfort food. I mean not even a green salad. It was good food, but I am not a disciplined person so even though I watched my portions it was the beginning of a trend for the rest of the week. I am back on track tonight though. I'll share after WI. Dinner tonight is a bean burrito bake and salad. I am following Simply Filling from week 6.

Bean Burrito Bake

1 pound meatless soy crumbles or core ground beef (I used beef, I cannot
stand soy beef)
1/8 cup reduced-sodium taco seasoning (1/2 packet)
3/4 cup water
15 oz canned yellow corn, no salt added, drained
14 oz canned diced tomatoes with green chilies (mild) (I used a can of
rotel)
15 oz fat-free canned refried beans
5 oz tomato paste
2 cup ff Shredded Cheddar Cheese (i used shredded soy cheese)
4 cup cooked brown rice (i used 2 1/2c cooked bulgur
1 medium onion(s)

Instructions

Dice onion and saute in large skillet with soy crumbles
(or use 1 lb of Core acceptable ground meat).
Add water and 1/2 packet of taco seasoning.
Simmer until sauce thickens.
Add canned veggies, tomato paste and beans.
Spray a casserole dish and fill with veggie/bean/soy mixture.
Top with 1 c. of shredded nf cheddar cheese.
Cover with cooked brown rice. Sprinkle remaining cheese over top.
Bake covered at 350 until heated through, 20 min.
Remove cover and continue baking until cheese is melty, 5 min.

Thank you! So far, I have been able to avoid my favorite lunch at work (cheeseburger + fries) and have a salad or salad plus soup for lunch. I just need to make sure that I keep up these new habits.

Excellent job on getting back on track! pixiedust:

Excellent loss! I was lurking ont eh CORE boards but have not had time lately. My DD likes the boards, she hangs out on the Simply Filling one now. There is a lot of info on those boards and she says if you ask a question you get an answer fast.

hi everyone
I am happy to say that I am down 3.4 lbs this week (finally!). I feel pretty good this week...I was able to get my tracking under control the past several days and I have been on the treadmill every day since last Friday. I still have 4 lbs or so to get back to where I feel most comfortable, but this week I feel like I have a pretty good handle on getting back on program. It's been too long since I have felt that way!

congratulations to all the losers this week...I saw some pretty impressive losses posted :thumbsup2

:grouphug: hugs for those that are struggling

hope we all have a great week pixiedust:

mikamah - welcome back! I hope you had a great vacation and I'm impressed how quickly you got back on program! It's so easy to say, I'll just start omorrow.

KGH - congrats on your weight loss the last two weeks! I know 0.2 can be frustrating, but it looks like you came back with a vengeance! I do not frequent the WW message boards; I spend way too much time as it is on the disboards!

cepmom - nice work! It sounds like you are doing a great job getting everything under control.

Hope everyone is having a great day. I've discovered that suddenly finding out that you have a Disney Trip to plan is a great way to stop from mindless snacking! My father-in-law is a wonderful wonderful man and told us on Saturday that he's taking the 7 of us to WDW next January. I know it's a year away but I feel like I've been bouncing off the walls since he announced it. :hyper: It's going to be a long year.... but I love the planning, so I think it'll make the anticipation that much better! At least, that's what I'm telling myself. ::yes::

keep up the good work everyone!
Rachel

Just wanted to quickly post that I'm down 3.6 this week for a total of 8 lbs since I began Jan 8th! I was so excited.

Just wanted to mention a great WW website... http://ronisweigh.com Great encouragment and recipes. i think I might have even read about it here originally on this board a long time ago.

Forgot to say Good Luck to everyone!! Hope you have a great week...and remember..as my leader says  "If it goes in your smacker it goes in your tracker!"

KGH, cepmom, Maxinesmom, congratulations on your losses this week!

Wow that is so cool! That is really great for him to take everyone.

Welcome back, Mik! So glad to hear that you didn't have a gain after your trip to Disney, that is an awesome accomplishment! With all of the water, walking and your knowledge about food you were destined to succeed, :cool1: . I hope you guys had a fantastic trip!!!

Congratulations, msteddom, Donald is #1, KGH, cepmom, Maxinesmom,

Thanks for the recipes, Nancyg56. Sorry to hear about your families loss.

It is way too easy to start tomorrow, but I've done that too many times in the past. I know after my first wdw trip 2 years ago, I came back and had stayed the same, but kept eating in vacation mode, and the next week had a big gain.
That is awesome you're going to disney world!!!! I absolutely love the planning. I'm a little sad i don't have a trip to plan, but I have a feeling afte the tax refund comes in, and next years school calendar is out, I'll work on a plan. Have fun planning!! You can never plan too much, and while you're on the dis and all the other disney websites, you can't eat. Have fun!!

Thanks deb! It's good to be back, and I'm hoping I'll stay more active on this thread now. ( I mean it's good to be back on wish, it's never good to be back from wdw.)

Have a great day everyone!!

msteddom congrats on your weight loss :cool1:

Donald is #1 :cheer2: great month!

Nancy56 :grouphug: Good for you for getting back on

Cepmom :goodvibes being in control is the best feeling

slightly obsessed :) :) :) Love having a Disney trip in the planning stage

Maxinesmom Great loss this week too :cheer2:

KGH - .02 is better the .02 up. I frequent the WW message boards. Mostly the 50's and tales from the scales. The two threads I participate in the most are ThrusdayWeigh inGroup from Tales from the Scale and on the 50's board the CDOP thread (staying on program cosecutive days,== I'm at 256 as of today. I can't tell you how many days that thread has kept me on program. It's really kept me from binging out and have to start at day one again.

If I missed anyone I'm sorry. Great weight loss and on program to everyone.

Today is my weigh in day, I am down 1 lb~ :thumbsup2 I'll take it. If anyone thinks my ticker looks a little off, I have tweaked it a bit by adding another 3 lb loss to where I want to finish. I gave it a lot of thought and decided that that # was really where I wanted to be. When I started I had no idea how long I'd stay with the program or even if I'd have any signification
loss, now I realize, I am in control to do anything I want and while the first goal was a nice round #, the 3 extra lb loss is really where I want to end up.

Have a great week all, I'll try and be around more over the weekend.

Hi everyone,

I'd like to introduce myself. I'm not new to DISboards or WW, but new to this forum. I rejoined WW at the beginning of Jan to get back on track and hopefully be down several pounds before our Disney trip in May.

Part of my motivation was an experience I had over the summer. We took DD to Silverwood, an amusement park in northern Idaho, and we got on one roller coaster and I got kicked off because the safety bar wouldn't lock in place over my large stomach. So embarrassing! DD had to ride by herself and I had to act like it was no big deal that I was just told my booty was too big to ride. :sad2:

Also, I noticed a trend in our family photos - I'm not in any of them! I love photography so I'm always behind the camera, but I think I've been using my weight as an excuse not to be in them. So I have hardly any pics of DD and me! We plan on taking advantage of the Photopass pics at WDW and I'd like to be able to look at those photos with joy not disgust.

So here I am - Down 8.5lbs already and making a goal of another 24.5 before we leave for Disney. :thumbsup2

Mary Ann, congrats on the loss and for choosing a goal. You have been such an inspiration to so many people here, I have the utmost confidence that we will be celebrating your reaching goal in no time at all.:cheer2:

:welcome: ColoradoLime and congrats on your loss!:thumbsup2
