Hi -

Looks like there is a pretty good chance we'll be watching the Candlelight Processional in the rain. We have a dining package.

Any insight as to how early we should be in line to get a seat under the roof? Could I stand in line and let the kids do something else and the join me closer to when they start to let us in?

Thank you!

I've done Candlelight in the rain before. Those first rows under cover fill quickly. Yes, you could hold the spot for the family but when the line starts moving, it's moving so would need to come quickly ... or bring sweatshirts or other items to save seats for them (people did that on Thursday for the 5pm show). They will ask people to "squeeze in" toward the middle to accommodate the most audience members possible. Some comply and some don't. Brought a heavy-duty garbage bag to sit on and also had a small hand towel in my bag to dry off the bench. Sat through it with a raincoat with a hood on. It's not ideal but it's still lovely.

It’s going to be a soaker for to nights performance. Hopefully those lucky enough to have gotten dining packages can enjoy it under the awning.

Just occurred to me… how do the performers due the processional part… always so moving to experience… in the rain? Do they just stay in place?

Ugh. I'm sorry for those who have been planning and looking forward to this. It will still be lovely, but no one wants pouring rain. Stage is fully under cover, although the choir processional is presumably walking through the rain to get to the stage. There are only maybe ~5 rows of seats under cover and some of that gets blocked off. The majority of seats do not have cover.

I think it’s a bit more than 5 and they are big so you can squeeze a lot of people under if the CMs push it.

The note about blocked areas is quite important. If it’s a popular night a lot of the covered area can be blocked off. One night I saw NPH and almost all of the covered area was blocked to even the dining packages. So I’d plan to be out in the rain even with a package to be safe.

We had the dining package for the 6:45 show. Got seated and by 6:50 they hadn’t started and then cancelled the show due to lightning. Is there someone I can contact about either seeing another show or getting a refund? Other nights we are here are sold out.

We were there last night and had the dining package. A CM told us to go to Guest Services. We got a gift card for $15 per person refund. We had to give Guest Services the entry badge from each person as proof.for refund.

Thanks. I’ll check on that today. Hoping to head over tonight and at least listen from the walkway. That was the reason for booking this December trip and would have been our first time attending it.

The first 6 rows are under the roof. Of course, the rain and wind direction might mean row 6, even row 5, might get wet if the rain is blowing a bit sideways in a stiff wind. Probably 60-70% of the dinner package folks will squeeze into those 6 rows - they're quite long surrounding the stage.

So even with the dining package, it pays to get in line early!

And keep in mind if you have a scooter and elect to stay in it for the performance, you will be behind row 6 so technically under cover but tricky if there’s any rain and it’s blowing. Make sure you come prepared!

Just curious if your plans worked out for CP and your seating? We an ADR for the 8:15 show and the hours leading up to the show as very windy with slight drizzle. We ate Spice Road… not a good experience with the wind whipping through the open seating area, temps in the 40s, and of course the food was cold. We felt so sorry for the server as we could tell was uncomfortable. A drop-down plastic shield to block the wind a rain would have made the experience 100% better.

The lines for the CP, 45 minutes for the show was extensive, but seat selection was fine, including any scooters or wheel chairs. We were near the end of the line and saw many available seats. Our preference is middle center away from the few trees that tend to block your views.

I sincerely hope you were not one of the 2 CPs cancelled on the 8th due to the torrential rain.
