WW Weekly Weigh In--- Part 2

Lost a lot of water weight yesterday...

I had plateaued on CORE- I was the same weight for 2 weeks! Yuck! So, I've switched plans. Please don;t hold it against me!! I've lost close to 15lbs on WW. However, I'm in a competition (think Biggest Loser), so losing lbs is the goal for the next 3 weeks!! I'm now on 'Combat the Fat', but would still like to report my loss here, if that's ok???

I have heard that if you plateau it is a good idea to switch it up. Your body gets used to the amount of food an the kind of food you are eating and adjusts so shaking it up seems to help. Good luck!

Nancy, thanks for the beef and bulgar recipe, I would like to give that a try. What is bulgar, I know it is a grain, is it similar to barley?

I had to look it up, I use it but had no real idea what it was. This is the grain in tabouleh salad. We also use it in place of rice. I get it at Whole Foods in bulk but you can also get it in the grocery store.

Bulgur is a quick-cooking form of whole wheat that has been cleaned, parboiled, dried, ground into particles and sifted into distinct sizes. Sunnyland Mills' four distinct grind sizes as well as whole kernel provide different textures and cooking properties for a variety of food applications. The result is a nutritious, versatile wheat product with a pleasant, nut-like flavor and an extended shelf-life that allows it to be stored for long periods.
Often confused with cracked wheat, bulgur differs in that it has been pre-cooked.
In contrast to cracked wheat, bulgur is ready to eat with minimal cooking or, after soaking in water or broth, can be mixed with other ingredients without further cooking. Bulgur can be used in recipes calling for converted rice (and it's more nutritious than rice).

Just poppin in to say Hello:wave2: & :welcome: to all the new people. I needed to lose .4lbs to reach 70lbs....lost .2lbs. Onward and downward! Life will be busy this week. My DH's Grandma past away and we just found out that my DH will be layed off within the week. I may not be around much, but a little pixie dust would be great right about now.pixiedust: Thanks for the core recipes, can't wait to try them. For all the losers out there..:cheer2: . For all who stayed the same or gained....

Plenty of :wizard: coming your way!

Here are a few more recipes we like. I have made both and they have been well received. I serve the chicken over WW thin spaghetti and the chili over baked potatoes or quinoa. Don't be afraid of the chili, the consistency was a little different from what we usually have but it was excellent. For the garlic chicken, I blended the garlic mixture to create a sauce and made a little extra so that we could use it as a sauce for the pasta.

Pan-Seared Chicken with Garlic Sauce
1 tsp paprika
¼ tsp black pepper
½ tsp dried rosemary
½ tsp salt
1 tsp dried thyme
1 tsp oli (I used 2 or 3 of olive oil)
12 garlic cloves, halved
1 lb uncooked skinless, boneless chicken breast (4 pieces)
1 c ff chicken broth

1. Preheat oven to 450.
2. Combine first five ingredients in a small bowl. Sprinkle both sides of chicken with herb mixture.
3. Heat oil in a large ovenproof skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken and cook 2 minutes on each side. Add garlic and ¾ c broth. Place pan in oven. Place pan in oven and cook at 450 for 10 minutes or until chicken is done and garlic cloves are cooked. Cook chicken about 12 minutes. Remove pan from oven. Transfer chicken to a platter; keep warm. Add remaining ¼ c broth to pan. Mash garlic cloves with a fork. Cook garlic mixture over medium heat for 2 minutes or until thoroughly heated; stir. Serve garlic sauce over chicken.
(Yields 4 servings: 1 chicken breast and 2 tablespoons of garlic sauce)

Pumpkin chili mexicana (core)

2 TBS core oil (add two more to meet your daily healthy oil requirement, per serving)
½ c chopped onion
1 c chopped red bell pepper
1 clove garlic, finely chopped
1 lb lean ground turkey or other core ground meat
2 (14.5 oz) cans diced tomatoes, undrained
1 (15 oz) can pumpkin
1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce
1 can (15.25 oz) kidney beans, drained
1 can (4 oz) diced green chiles
½ c whole kernel corn
1 TBS chili powder
1 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp salt
½ tsp ground black pepper

Heat oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add onion, bell pepper and garlic; cook, stirring frequently, for 5 to 7 minutes until tender. Add ground meat; cook until browned. Drain.

Add tomatoes with juice, pumpkin, tomato sauce, beans, chiles, corn, chili powder, cumin, salt and pepper. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low. Cover; cook, stirring occasionally, for 30 minutes.

bucci818 ~ my condolences on your DH's grandmother's passing here's a little pixie dust coming your way pixiedust:

congrats on your loss this week...I'm sure you'll get that 70 lbs next week!

This week I stayed the same...didn't really get back on the program completely, but at least I didn't gain. I really need to get motivated to get back on the working out routine. Since returning from vacation, I've only worked out once :headache: :guilty: . Don't know what my problem is. Well, todays a new day, so back on the wagon we go! Have a good week everyone!

Bucci: WOW! Congrats on your weight loss so far! :cheer2:  :cool1: :dance3: :yay: :woohoo: I'm sure you will make 70 next week, keep up the good work!

I'm headed into week 7 of WW and have lost almost 10lbs. (I'm trying the "slow and steady wins the race" method!):rotfl:

This past weigh-in I had a 2lb gain! The leader consoled me and told me not to lose hope, but it's easier said than done! I had thought for sure that I would have had a loss! I had started exercising and stepped up my water intake as well.

I've been doing well this week too (I guess :confused3 ) but if I step on the scale and have another gain I'll just burst! :scared1:

Sorry I've been gone... I have no reason but LOTS of excuses!

I've managed to maintain my weight, so I am still 2.4 lbs away from 70 lbs GONE.

Honestly, I am happy with the maintanence as my choices have not been stellar over the last few weeks. I'm ready for school to start again so I can get back in a routine!

Have a happy Thursday!

Exercise can give you a gain at first. I cannot remember why but my SIL told my DD to be prepared for one and two weeks after she started working out it happened. I stop drinking water several hours before my WI. Anything can cause the gain, especially if you retained water that day. With the heat we have had that may be the culprit as well.

Shake it off and see what happens next week.

I went to my meeting last night with great expectations. Last week I thought I was going to be up and found out I had lost 3.4. This week I was expecting to break 65 total lost. Not good. I GAINED 1.2! I guess my unexpected lose last week let me relax a little too much. I just ate too much! I stayed on plan and made good choices but did not control my portions well enough. Time to get back on track. My next goal is to be under 300 by Labor Day. I will get there!

Terry - I hate when the scale does that. Like it remembers it was wrong the week before and then decide the next week to make up for it. Don't worry, just try and stay focused. In my group at WW there is one woman who has lost 158 lbs! She is my inspiration. I know you can do it too.

I went shopping for new clothing today. Bought far to much that will probably not fit in 3 months so I may return some next week. I'm not happy about the pants they feel big already. In any case at least I have something to wear to work for the next couple of months. It truly was WONDERFUL to toss stuff out and say bring me a smaller size!!!!

OK who can use a laugh.... a really good, you may need a depends laugh. Clicj on the line to old Weight Watcher recipe cards from the early 1970. Be sure to click on the snap shot pictures for the story of each "food" and I use the word "food" with little conviction. It's a wonder anyone made it to lifetime in those days.

Well... I cannot believe what a great week I had last week. The week before I did not loose anything and this week I lost 4.8 making my grand total 18lbs in 8 weeks going to WW.

I have been walking several times per week and trying to stay within my points.

Thanks for everyone’s support!

I am half way to my 10%. :cool1:

I weigh in tomorrow! Fingers crossed! I've been REALLY good this week!
I even turned down carrot cake tonight in favor of a smoothie!!! :woohoo:

I broke even! :woohoo:

I had a 2.2lb gain last week, and that's EXACTLY how much I lost this week!
:yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay:

I hope everyone has a GREAT WEEK!

You have got to be so happy! That is an impressive loss, It has taken me a 5 more weeks to lose less than you have. :thumbsup2 I bet the walking is adding more to your overall health than just the weight loss.

I weigh in tomorrow too! I also tried to stay focused and within my points this week but I am not at all sure taht I managed to do that. I think I was close but am still a little worried about the WI tomorrow night. My DH wants to visit his aunt tomorrow and that is really important but we both agree that we will go after my meeting. We both know that the meeting has been an integral part of staying n the plan..
Wishing all of the Monday people a great WI!

How do you all handle it when treats are brought into work...?

I am a temp at an office where the people are very nice but there's always some kind of treat.
How do I turn it down without sounding ungrateful or rude?
