HEY!!!

did anyone make a challenge this week???????

Molli-

Nope, and I think we lost last weeks thread. When it doesn't stay towards the top it gets hard to find it to post when your busy.

So what should our challenge this week be.

I go to NC on Saturday, and I am going to try REALLY hard to eat OP the whole weekend. I really want to loose these last few pounds and get just below my WW goal so I can actually do REAL maintenance. Right now I just keep fluctuating up and down because I keep eating out and eating too much. I guess that I am doing well now with MAINTAINING, so that's good. I only have 4 more weeks till my 6 week maintenance phase is over. I can't be more than 2 lbs above my goal. So far, the last two weeks I have been more than 2lbs above my goal, luckily only
. something above.

well -- it's a short week so i'll have to think on this....

.......things that make you go hmmmmmm..................

sorry -- retro moment:teeth:

how about a 5 a day challenge?

The Health Benefits -- For the last eight years the Dept. of Health has been trying to drive home the "5-A-Day" message. Research proves that eating at least 5 portions of fruit and vegetables each day has very real health benefits. It can help to prevent heart diseases and some cancers. Evidence shows however, that many of us are not listening to this healthy eating advice. Recent research shows that only 1 in 7 of us achieve the 5 a day quota

are you game????????? i am:wave2:

Ok, that sounds fun!

Today I have had:

1/4 cup raisins this morning 1- fruit
1 cup baby carrots - 2 veggies
1/2 cup cherry tomatoes - 1 veggie
1 cup pineapple - 2 fruit

I will probably have some bell pepper and onion tonight.

We can even try the 3 a day dairy some week. Thats one most people fall short of too!

Not reading this until I am all done eating for the day - so I will join tomorrow.

I think I have been meeting the quota - but not for the past few days.

Tomorrow it shall be the rule of 5 a day for me too! ::yes::

Mel-- you overachiever you with your 6 servings today :) i like the 3 a day future challenge too

today I had: 1 cup frozen Parisan blend veggies -- 1 serving
2/3 each whole yellow squash and zuchinni with mushrooms -- 1.5 servings
1 small apple -- 1/2 serving
16 oz Diet V8 splash -- 2 servings

i estimated my sauteed veggies but I had a HUGE bowl of them. I was not in the mood for veggies tonight and probably wouldn't have eated veggies as the bulk of my dinner had it not been for my requirement to report in!!

This sounds like a great challenge. I'm in! ::yes:: (I'll start with Thursday).

ohMom, I think I remembered about your 'start up a challenge' request until Saturday, but it slipped my mind in the hustle and bustle of the last weekend. I feel guilty now! Thanks for getting us back on track.

no problem Beams -- glad you're in for the rest of this week. we can repeat this challenge in a few weeks since it was a short one!

Happy crunching everyone today!!!:flower1:

Ok,

Molli, isn't 1 small apple one serving of fruit. On the 5-a day website, I thought it said 1 piece of fruit was a serving?? I think you did better than you thought!

Minus my pineapple yesterday. I was so full from the carrots and cherry tomatoes that I didn't eat my yogurt and pineapple. I am going to have that for a snack this morning. I also did not have the onion and bell pepper because I was too busy running around town all evening.

Here is what my plans are...........I will post the accurate tomorrow:

Pineapple 1 cup- 2 servings fruit
I am having Indian Food for lunch, so I know I will get quite a few servings since I only eat vegetarian there.
Probably
beans - 1 serving
peas - 1 serving
veggies - 1 serving
carrots - 1 serving

Dinner- Still going to try to eat that bell pepper, not sure what else because I am not sure what I am having.

Good job yesterday Molli!

Even though I am not doing WW anymore I am trying to eat balanced according to he food pyramid. Can I play to??

absolutely jiminy!! glad to see another friendly face up for it!

hey, does salsa count?? it's veggies!!!! i eat salsa like every day!

ok ok ok ok ok -- i'll edit with my 5 later this evening :)

OKk so far today I had

An Apple
Raisins
A LArge Corrage Cheese Container full of salad
and about a cup or cup and half of fruit salad.

Ok, I don't think I did so great for my first day, but I was trying to keep it in mind so I had more veggies than I probably would have otherwise.

1 cup of lettuce = 1 serving
1 medium tomato = 1 serving
1/2 cup cooked broccoli = 1/2 serving
1 cup cooked chinese veggies = 1 serving

Hmm .. 3.5. Well, it's better than I thought I did.

I think I'll try to remember to bring some fruit to snack on tomorrow. That should get me to 5 servings.

Good work so far, everyone. :)

my internet was down last night so i'm reporting in now :)

yesterday I had:
1 med pear
1 large tomato
2 cups butternut squash soup (with other veggies I counted this as 3)

today so far I've had 1/2 grapefruit!

beams -- if this challenges increases our awareness of incorporating more fruit/veggies into our days then it is a success!!

have a great day!!!

For Friday, I had:

1 cup salad with lunch = 1 serving
1/2 cup cut up veggies for a snack = 1/2 serving
2 cups mixed cut up veggies at dinner = 2 servings
1 banana = 1 serving

Total 4.5 .. so close .. and yet so far away.

One other thing I was trying today was challenging myself to drink 10 8oz glasses of water at work. I work 12 hour shifts, so I had the time to spread it out a little.. heehee. I made it .. but man alive, is that a lot of water. I think that made me less hungry for my afternoon veggie snack, so I guess I might have made it to 5 servings otherwise. I'm pretty happy about all the water, though. (That sounds so odd.. ah well).

Cheers everyone. Happy weekend. :)

Caroline

friday I did very well until we hosted a couples bible study group cookout and I fell into the host mode and totally forgot to finish off my 5 (unless potato chips count ;))

friday I had:

1/2 grapefruit
very large salad (bagged mix with mushrooms added)

that was it -- i'd call my salad 3 servings it was big :)

so I didn't make it friday either Caroline -- oh well - - today is a new day. on another note I used way toooo many FP last night too! i'm not going to lose 8 lbs this way!

hey -- did everyone leave me??

sat I had:
1 peach
2 cups salad
1 large tomato sliced
handful baby carrots

whew!

Nope, I'm still here! :)

Ok, 2 hours left on shift .. so it's update time. For Saturday, I've had:

2 cups of salad
1 1/4 med tomatos
1/4 cup cooked veggies
1 cup grapes
1 med apple

Yay! I made it to 5! Of course, the challenge is almost over. lol Oh well, at least I made it one day. And I still have Sunday. I'm just happy I finally made it to 5. This challenge has really got me thinking about how to squeeze more veggies and fruits into things. Life is good.
