Ok, I am a little late on this. I have been so busy this week, and time has gotten away from me.

This week's meeting was on Support!

We have a great support system here at WISH. If only other people had access to this!

We talked about what different kinds of support we have:

Family- Husbands, kids, parents etc.
Friends-
Co-workers WW at work, other co-workers who are dieting, or people who cheer you on.
Online-WW's bulleting boards, Dotti's Weight Loss Zone bulletin board. (I have the DIS-WISH board too, sometimes when I am there I want to tell everyone, but I don't say anything because they might think I am nuts. I know how great the support is here!, even if others can't relate.)
WW meetings - A few of us had a dinner get together, meeting new people, sharing ideas.

We talked about how some people are good to have in your support group, while others do more harm than good. Some friends get jelous of you loosing weight, or people that you used to eat with might pressure you to eat the way you used to eat. You may have to not be around those people while you loose, or explain to them how important this is to you.

We talked about Dr. Phil's book, and how the last key is about your circle of friends.

Recipe- I had this at our Monthly WW dinner get-together that we started

Fruit Triffle-

cut up Angel food cake
Cut up fruit
pudding small FF, SF (make like pie filling)
cool whip

Take the angel food cake, and cut up into pieces. Make the pudding according to the pie filling directions. Add the cool whip to the pudding. Layer pudding, angel food cake, fruit in a triffle bowl (or regular bowl) till you get to the top. The last layer should be pudding/cool whip mixture. Then top fresh fruit in a decorative way. She used peaches and kiwi's. Very Very good!

It was 2 points per 1/12 of entire bowl.

We had our dinner party, unfortunately only me and the leader showed up at the girls house. Next time we might try going to a restaurant. It was fun.

The leader made an appetizer (mini phylo dough-salmon appetizers). The recipe is on the back of the box.
The girl hosting the party made pickled beets (0 points) used splenda, and 1 point per serving baked breaded zhuccini.
I made Broccoli Penne Pasta (It has ground turkey in it). We had two desserts. The dessert that I listed last week in the meeting topic and the one I listed in todays.

We had a very fun time.

I would love it if you shared what you talked about at your meeting.

Melanie

for sharing that Melanie - i need to read and reread that!

I am sooooo fortunate to have such an awesome support group and yet I feel like I spend less and less time on the WISH board and I feel my motivation and inspiration batteries running low!

Best thing of all is that I know I can pop in and out whenever I can and I'm always welcome - but thanks for reminding me of where to turn when I face the hard days!

your dessert sounds fabulous!

I don't attend meeting so I can't share that but i love to read about the WW mtgs so c'mon folks - DETAILS!!

Thanks for sharing Melanie! Support is very much a key and I have most of the ones you mentioned.

I have a wonderful husband who is supportive of me. Not just in this, but in everything I do.

One of the reasons I'm on Weight Watchers is because of one of the girls I work with. She's been on it a year and while she didn't have very much to lose it really worked for her. She answered a lot of my questions, helped me understand the points, gives me hints, and really supports me. Only a few other people know I've started this, but those that do have been very supportive.

The WISH board is also a great source of support and encouragement. I find great inspiration in the posters here.

A great topic - thanks again for sharing!

I always love reading your WW topic posts, Melanie. :D

(I have the DIS-WISH board too, sometimes when I am there I want to tell everyone, but I don't say anything because they might think I am nuts. I know how great the support is here!, even if others can't relate.)

Me, too!! A couple of times when on-line sites have been discussed at meetings, I have started to tell about WISH, but then I just don't!! I guess most of them just don't strike me as computer users!!

Our leader discussed the 3 R's and how they relate to WW.

For Reading-we said we should be reading our program materials, other weight loss materials like WW magazine, online information like WW online or Dottie's site.

For 'Riting-we said we should be journaling every day. We briefly discussed the new quick tracker system of journaling points. Most people seemed to like the revised system because it was easier to see the actual balance of points you have left for the day at any given time.

For 'Rithmatic-we talked about counting points and the few new point changes in the program. Carrots are now counted as 0 points when eating 10 baby carrots raw. If they are cooked, 1/2 c counts as 1 point. Bacon is now 4 points for 3 slices instead of 3 points. She said chocolate had gone down slightly, but didn't give us the point totals and I haven't thought to check it yet. (Can you believe I didn't check on that?? What was I thinking?)

One of the guys in the group shared that the Carnation Fat Free Hot Chocolate mix (made with water) makes a good snack for 0 points! Our leader says she makes it with skim milk to get one of her milk servings for the day. I tried it this morning and it is yummy!! If you need a chocolate fix, I highly recommend it!!

That was about it for our meeting. I'll have to miss the next couple of weeks. My DD has a dr appt. Monday afternoon and I won't be back in time to weigh in and the next Monday I will be living it up in WDW!! I'll be looking for your post this coming week, Melanie, so at least I won't entirely miss WW information for the week!!

Hi all! We reviewed the "3R's" also! Since it was my 1st WW meeting (in a few years, at least!), I wasn't totally focused! I kept wanting to read my new Getting Started book! ;)

The program looks great and I'm looking forward to it. I guess miy main problem is just planning my meals. I don't cook very often, usually too busy. I would love to have any ideas other WW's may have re: crockpot WW recipes! :)

Hope everyone has an OP weekend!! :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Thanks for posting Melanie :) I didn't get a chance to stay for all of the meeting yesterday so I missed out on the topic.

I really enjoy going to the WW meeting a lot more than I thought I would. When I first joined, I thought I would just go for the WI and then leave ... but the support and encouragement from the other members is great! I've got so many great meal and exercise ideas from going too!

I also love WISH too! The enthusiasm is great, especially when you reach a new milestone!

I've almost told them about DIS/WISH but a lot of the members at my meeting don't really use the Internet ... so I just kept it to myself :p

Thanks for posting the topics and things that you all discussed at your meeting. I don't attend the meetings and I enjoy hearing what is being discussed.

The only support I have is the DIS and DH who has joined me in following WW.

Thanks again!
