Im looking for a good progran to join. Do you have experience with any of the organized weight loss groups?
Thanks :)

I've had good luck with Weight Watchers. I joined once, got all the materials, and now just use it on my own (rather than re-upping at the end of my 12 week session) which makes it pretty cost efficient.

I like it because you can really eat anything, as long as you practice moderation and stay within your point ranges. Occasional binges are allowed, and you can even plan for them in advance!

Also, my doc recommends it and said she feels that it is most successful for long term weight loss maintenance (no attacks Atkiners and SoBe's please!). Perhaps you should check with your doctor to see what she recommends.

Good luck with your decision.

Disneygoof - no attacks from this low-carber! :sunny: The great thing about the WISH board is that we support each other no matter WHAT plan we're doing. Each person has to find what works for them! ::yes::

Binny, if you feel like you need an organized program, then I'd steer toward something like Weight Watchers, where you eat "real" food instead of buying prepackaged foods from the plan. I think the plan should teach you how to eat for life.

I don't have first hand experience with any program but my MIL worked for LA Weight Loss for a while after having success with their program. She quit because they emphasized to their employees that they should push the vitamins and other "extras" because that's how they made the most money. She wasn't comfortable with that. I'm not saying all chains or even all LA Weight Loss businesses do that - it was just her experience.

Best wishes - I hope you find what works for you!

My sister belongs to T.O.P.S., which is an organized group where they weigh in, they don't follow a set plan but discuss thier weight loss goals and plans with thier members. It isn't nearly as expensive as other groups and if you need the weighing in at a meeting maybe it is something to look into. My daughter is planning on joining after the baby is born but will probably follow the WW's plan since we both have all of the info from last summer when we joined. But like everyone says you need to finnd the plan that works best for you. Good luck.

My reccomendation is to find a plan that you can stick with for the REST OF YOUR LIFE.

It may sound like a death sentence, but it really isn't. In losing 168 pounds, I learned that the changes I was making were to be life-long ones. If I did my plan and just reverted back to the way I was eating before starting a weight loss plan, I'd simply gain it all back.

Having said that, I would highly reccomend Weight Watchers. It emphasizes balance, healthy habits, and it allows for you to have that "cheat" now and again. They also provide group support.

Weight loss plans are like clothes. Find the one that best fits you. :)
