WW and Flex Points

As a newbie to the WW system I'm interested in how others treat their flex points. I am as of yet undecided what to do so I'm looking from ideas for others.
Do you...
- Use only when you have to - example a special party/special occassion
- Break them up through the week to add points to your day
- Use them weekly for a special treat or two or dinner out
- Use only a few of them week

Hi there,

I'm a big fan of eat as much as you can to still loose weight. Last year when I lost almost 50lbs and reached my goal weight I ate all of my 35 points each week and still lost. I also kept my points at 22 points when I went under 150 pounds instead of droping them to 20.

I would say to play it by ear. Try eating them all each week and see how you do. If you don't loose then don't eat as many. I believe that your body will learn to live on less if you don't eat as many as you can to loose. Then when you get into maintenance you won't be able to eat very many over your target points before you start gaining. It's like training your body to loose with more. I hope that made sense.

As far as when to eat them it depends on you and how you like to eat. I try to eat them a little each day unless I have something big planned. Then I try save them for the event.

I totally agree with Melanie. Use the 35 points and see how you do, if you keep losing, than use them, but if not, try only using half and go from there. I actually don't use mine except on special occasions, which is very rare :guilty: I have been doing different things every couple of weeks to throw my metabolism. I use my AP sometimes and then other weeks, I don't use any. When my weight loss slows down, I try something different. It'll depend on your metabolism and how much exercise you get in.

I try to just meet my points target on regular days, and use my Flex Points for eating out or special treats.

My Flex Points don't generally go to waste- I use most of them!

I love that Flex Points work well for folks like me, who want to budget them for an occasional "splurge", as well as for folks who add them to their regular daily allotment. The key is to think about your own lifestyle and needs, and just figure out the best way to make the plan fit YOU.
 

I can't say thank you enough to all of you more experienced WWers who have been helping me out. :goodvibes: I was leaning more towards using my target points daily and saving the flex points for the weekend when I tend to be more lax with my eating. The weekends have been my downfall as of late and I'm hoping having those extra points will keep me from feeling deprived but also to make better choices. ::yes:: I want to lose weight at the higher end of the points (target + flex) so I'm going to try using all my flex and my target points for now and then see how my loss goes. Thanks again to all of you :)
 
That's a perfect way to use them, especially if your having a hard time on weekends. You'll feel right at home with them soon and it will become second nature how to use them each week. Keep up the great work!
 
Yep, sounds like a great plan!

This way, you can enjoy your weekends without guilt. You'll be a sensible and responsible eater during the week, and you've budgeted your Flex allowance to let you splurge a bit on the weekends.
