Parents may be able to influence the effect on their younger children of stupid remarks by celebrities, but please don't hold parents responsible for all of the mistakes their children make - don't think you were saying that in your post but felt the need to add that on a generic basis.
I am almost 60 and have seen some of the most wonderful people in the world end up with one rotten apple among their children - really bad like heroin addict or alcoholic street person. Sometimes even the best parents can't save their children from themselves.
