Somewhere I read that it is best to go to F&G on the weekends...more going on. We'll be there early May. Young kids in our group (preschoolers). Elsewhere I have read to avoid the weekends. What do you think?

Odds are, because there is "more going on", plus this is when local visitors (e.g., not vacationers) are off work, that weekends will be busier. Just how much busier is relative, I suppose. If I could only go to F&G on a weekend, I'd go regardless of expected crowds. But if I had a choice, I'd probably choose another day. We enjoy F&G, but we also prefer lines to be a little shorter and pathways to be a little easier to navigate.

We were at F&G last weekend, for portions of Saturday, and then a few hours on Sunday night. Sunday night was vastly better in terms of crowds, than Saturday.

On Saturday, there were so many big groups on these "drink around the world" excursions. They didn't bother us, but they certainly made some areas really congested. It makes sense that locals would use Saturdays to enjoy F&G, too.

Sunday night was lovely! We could really enjoy the topiaries, and tried every one of the food booths. We also popped in on Monday night, and crowds were similar to Sunday night.

Your kids might enjoy the egg hunt if it is still going on. You buy the map for $5.99, and look for the egg in each country. Even my teens enjoyed it!

When my son was younger we stayed away from Epcot on the weekends during ANY festival. My DH and I enjoy drinking our way around the World so we definitely aren't prudes but Fridays and Saturdays during festivals are MUCH more crowded and there are a large number of very LOUD, very CRASS drinking "teams" on Friday and Saturday evenings. I have no problem with the vast majority of groups who go and get the matching shirts for festivals - most of them are just having a good time, but the first year we made the mistake of going on a weekend we encountered MANY people who were literally stumbling around hooting and hollering, totally unaware of the fact that there were wall to wall people and young children there. My son was very uncomfortable because he had never been in a situation like that before so he said he wanted to leave (no biggie, we went back to the resort and he had a fun time in the pool). It's just a very different environment on Friday and Saturday evenings during festivals. The days are ok though - more crowded than usual but most of the people who are going to be unreasonable haven't had too much to drink yet.

If you do go on a weekend, hit WS early when it opens at 11am. It's slightly less crowded and no one is drunk yet.
