Wrong names for rides you or people you know INSIST on calling them

I am so thrilled that I am not the only one who got stuck with odd names for rides. LOVE YOU GUYS! I am so happy I made a multi-page thread too!

By the way I also refer to Test Track/Fast Pass as: Test Pass, or Fast Track, Test Pass, Pass Track or any combination therein.

For years I referred to Spaceship Earth as "Mother Earth", I knew the difference, but I liked my name better.... my DD still likes to tell everyone that! Many just call it the giant Golf Ball.

Of course, there are still MANY out there that refer to the Magic Kingdom as Disney World, and don't even realize the other 3 parks that make up the entire place of Walt Disney World even belong to Disney.

I have heard the monorail referred to as the Bullet Train or that Train in the Sky.

I have heard Mission Space called Mission Upchuck.

Test Track is often called Fast Track.

The store "Disney At Home" is often called "The Home Store".

Pleasure Island is called Paradise Island, Planet Hollywood is often called Planet Earth, the Comedy Warehouse is called The Comedy Club, Downtown Disney is still called Disney Village. Cirque du Soleil is called anything but... some I have heard are The Circus place, Circus del sol, Sol del cirkey, if there is a way to mispronounce the name, I have probably heard it.

Buzz Lightyear's Ranger Spin is just referred to as Buzz Lightyear

Journey To Your Imagination is called "The Figment Ride".

Maelstrom is called "The Viking Boats".

Fantasmic is called "Fantasia".

Illuminations is called "that fireworks show at Epcot".

SpectroMagic is still referred to as the Electrical Light Parade. They are 2 different parades, but many don't realize that.

The Polynesian is called The Polynesian Village.

The Grand Floridian has been called the Grand Hotel.

"Who Wants to Be a Millionaire-Play It" is "That Millionaire Game at MGM, you know the one."

Disney MGM Studios is called "MGM", "the Studios", That park with Tower of Terror", "That Park with the Movies".

Disney's Animal Kingdom has been called "Wild Animal Safari", "Wild Animal Kingdom", "that park with the Animals", "the other Kingdom park".

Guest Relations is very often referred to as Guest Services and visa versa.

Any body of water is called "Seven Seas Lagoon", even though the only Seven Seas Lagoon is located between the TTC and the MK.

Common misconceptions:
1)all waterways within Walt Disney World connect, so you can get anywhere by boat. 2) the monorail also runs to DTD and Animal Kingdom 3) there are busses from DTD to any of the parks (the busses only run to DTD from the Disney resort hotels, from there you must transfer to a bus to your choice of park). 4) you may park your car at DTD for free and ride a bus to the parks. 5) There is bus transportation from the Parks directly to DTD. 6) The Disney Store Gift cards may be used at World of Disney. 7) you may walk from Park to Park and from the resorts to the parks (the only 2 parks within walking distance are Epcot and Disney MGM Studios.). You may walk from the Contemporary to the MK, and from Y&B Club and Boardwalk (Swan and Dolphin, too) to both Epcot and DIsney MGM Studios. Although it looks like it would work, walking from CBR to either Disney MGM Studios or Epcot is HIGHLY discouraged.

We're guilty of a lot of these
Mom has a million names for Fast Pass. The only time I ever heard her get it right was when she was referring to the system at Universal. Only that's not the name there. Among her most frequent names for it: Fast Track, Speed Pass, No line, Walk through, and Express Track

grammy calls Big Thunder Mountain "that runaway train" (after she yells at us for riding it

And the other day someone at school called Mission Space the Puke Shuttle...guess they didn't have a good experience on that one huh

The PEOPLE MOVER! I think it's called the Tomorrowland Transit Authority or something? My family calls it the people mover.

I'm not sure why, actually... >.>

It's one of our favorite rides in MK.

We still call it the WED way...it's the ride we go to in the afternoon when our feet hurt and it's hot and sticky

I call them the teacups and Wedway too.

I also refer to the Studios as MGM, even though I don't even think that's it's name anymore.

One of my pet peeves, though, is when people call the Magic Kingdom "Disney World." Like, if I'm telling a friend I went to Epcot and ANimal Kingdom and stayed at the Poly, I hate it when they say "And did you go to Disney World too?"

I am still guilty of referring to MK as Disney World.
Back in the day...MK was all there was...and we just said we were going to Disney World!

I got quite the laugh on my 1st WDW trip.

While I was in One Man's Dream at MGM(it's what I like to call it) a lady said to her kid "Look it's the treehouse we went in at the Magic Kingdom" Well actually it was the model of the Tree of Life. I couldn't help but laugh.

Then there was this other lady who said to her granddaughter, "You promised me we would go on in the Haunted Castle!"

I call the Tomorrowland Transit Authority the People Mover. I'm used to calling it the People Mover since I've been going to Disneyland all of my life and this December was my first trip to WDW. It seems strange calling it the Tomorrowland Transit Authority for me.

While at MVMCP a lady keep saying to her two kids, "Where's the tower ride, isn't it in Tomorrowland?" One of her sons would say "It's not in the Magic Kingdom." Then his brother would argue with him about how he was sure it was here and it's in Tomorrowland. They keep going on and on and argueing about it. It was hilarious. But I finally decided to tell them it was in MGM and one of the boys didn't believe me and wanted to go to Tomorrowland to ride the "tower ride"!

My dad keeps asking me how I liked "Wild Kingdom"! He calls Mission Space, Mission to Mars.

My mom says Epcopt instead of Epcot.

PS: The restaurant in "the castle" is "King Stefan's Banquet Hall."

I think it's called "Cinderella's Royal Table" now. I guess it seemed kinda silly having a restaurant named after Sleeping Beauty's dad in Cinderella's castle. We still have the collectible glasses with King Stefan's on them. I just loved the Mickey-shaped butter...seemed a shame to use it on the bread.

I am guilty of still calling teh magic kingdom "Disney World" My 5year old corrects me.

Speaking of my 5 year old. She calls Philharmagic "Donald Duck's Butt" The whole family has started calling it that now.

The TTA is still The WEDway people mover to us, It was named the WEDway
because of Walts initials... Walter Elias Disney (WED)

I thought she meant the Hall of Presidents but she said no and went on to explain the boat ride ... and then I realized she was talking about It's A Small World

I still call DTD - Disney Village also guilty of people mover and teacups. Also shorten most others like Splash, Big Thunder Mountain, Buzz.

Have heard POTC called the pirate boat ride, Jungle cruise - river ride and Peco's Bills -Peacock Bills

This is really a cute thread.

I still call the TTA, the wedway or people mover as well. My mom screws it up and calls it the T&A.

Mom also calls the CoP the progressive carrousel (you would think she would get the name right as she absolutely loves the show). IASW is also known to her as It's a sickening world. CRT will always be King Stephan's to me. I also call them the Teacups or sometimes the whirl and hurl. The mountains are known to me by first name only: splash, space or Thunder (a/k/a runaway train).

I still refer to DTD as the The Village Marketplace

In AK, I have to go on Safari. Then I call Primevil Whirl the Wild Mouse Ride (in reference to a ride we had in an amusement park in N.O. years ago). Camp MM is known to us as Camp Kiddie.

In Epcot, we go to see Figment and the Dead Sea (used to be Living Sea but it is depressing so we renamed it). El Rio Del Tiemp is referred by us as El Rio De Boredoh. Test Track is called the Don King ride (you should see our hair after we've ridden it 3X in a row). SSE is the Golf ball.

I have called the ToT the hellhotel. RnRC is the take my breath away coaster. Indy is referred to as the Nogo Stunt show (tired of seeing it)

Lastly, the HDDR is now called the Hoop Dee Don't in my family.

I do have to say...it does make me crazy when people call Magic Kingdom "Disney World" and insist that "Disney World" is truly the name of the park.
