I have to admit I have been guilty of this very thing. Some prime examples are:

I refer to the Mad Hatter's Tea Party as: THE TEA CUPS

BTMRR: the runaway train

Astro-Orbiter: Star jets (for obvious reasons)

20,000 Leagues Under the Sea: Capt. nemo's Submarine (back when it existed)

Anyone else??

The biggest one:

people referring to the Magic Kingdom as Disney World, and then each of the other parks by its correct name!

I keep calling the Share a Dream Come True parade "The Snow Globe Parade."

We say "Teacups" too.

The PEOPLE MOVER! I think it's called the Tomorrowland Transit Authority or something? My family calls it the people mover.

I'm not sure why, actually... >.>

It's one of our favorite rides in MK.

I definately call Mad Hatter's The Tea Cups too! LOL Afterall, it IS teacups! :)

I call the Mad Hatter's teacups too and I do call Spaceship Earth "the big ball". When we went growing up my brother was about 2 and that is what he called it and well it just stuck in our family. Now my son's call it that too.

beacuse it used to be called "The Wedway People Mover" :) LOL we still do that to :)

Not a ride, but I love when people say they are going to Circus O Soleil (Cirque Du Soleil) or La Noubia (La Nouba)...

My favorite though is what was mentioned about Magic Kingdom...people always call that Disney World...

:sad2: That drives me nuts!

I call RNR "OMG, I can't believe you got me to go on that".

Does that count?

Mad Hatter's Tea Party = "Spin-n-puke"

people calling the Haunted Mansion the Haunted House used to make me very angry as a kid!

I hate it whe I hear people call Spaceship Earth the Golf Ball. But I'm very guilty of using Tea Cups and Star Wars instead of Star Tours.

We use People Mover and Teacups too and I'm sure we always will. We also call King Stephan's by that name although I do use CRT if I'm making a PS or of course on the DIS.

I call the Tomorrowland Transit Authority the "Wedway People Mover"!

I also am guilty of using the term 'teacups'!

:earboy2:

In our City Park we have a carousel that the horses go up and down, and has affectionately been nicknamed "The Flying Horses." I also refer to Cindy's carousel as "The Flying Horses" (can't remember if they fly or not)

I also say "teacups" I hate it when people say "so are you going to Disneyland again?" Never been there people its Walt Disney World, Dinseyland is in California, Disney World is in Florida!!!!!! :earseek:

I say "The Teacups" too.

I also call TTA the Wedway People Mover.

I also call Star Tours the Star Wars ride.

I say "The Mexico ride."

When we took ds on his first trip (he was 2 1/2 in 2001) he insisted on calling Maelstrom the "Swan Boat Ride"! I guess he thought the viking ship looked like a swan?!?! Anyway, the name kind of stuck and we still call it that! :D

A bit off topic, but the post on Cirque du Soleil reminded me of something. I have a friend who works for the National Parks Service. One of their terms for really dumb tourists is Touron (Tourist + moron). A couple of months ago, Cirque du Soleil set up one of their shows in the parking lot at RFK Stadium in Washington DC. The stadium happens to be right where the orange and blue metro lines change from below ground to above ground. Anyway this one evening I was on the metro heading towards my car parked at the last stop. The metro car was packed with tourists, including a few tourons. We came up from underground and passed the stadium parking lot with the Cirque tents set up in it and all the Cirque trailer truckers etc. One touron turned to her group and announced in a loud voice - Oh look - it's the Circus de Olay. So now whenever I read about Cirque du Soleil, that's the line that replays itself in my head. LOL
