Wrong magic bands/sliders - how to correct?

I'm not really sure where to post this so feel free to move if needed.

Our magic bands came today. Months ago we selected our colors. My immediate family of 3 (DVC members with PAPs) and my mom (non-member, no AP) are all going on this trip. The bands arrived, all 4 with DVC member sliders, no AP slider that I've seen in pictures from other AP holders. And the only part that *really* bothers me. My 8 year old didn't get the blue band he'd selected and instead got grey. Because he is the only one who won't have charging privileges, we can't just switch and let him have his dad's green one.

Is there a way to get the AP holder sliders? And is there a way to get his band reissued in blue or are there covers in the park to decorate his to make him happy since the minute we opened it he teared up at being the only one to not get a "cool" band?

I've read that you have to have an active AP to get the sliders. If you bought the AP and linked the confirmation code, that won't get you an AP slider. Next trip should have one.

Sorry about your DS. Hopefully they can rectify it and get him the color he wants.

Shouldn't be a problem to get a re-issued MB in any color once you get to your resort.

I've read reports on the board that the resorts can now take care of these things at check-in or at the Concierge desk.

Or if he has a colored band from a previous trip, he could us that as well. (not are if that applies here, just sayin')

They probably ran out of the blue band that particular day when they were shipping.

I bought some of the really cure band decals from DVCCentral (I have no connection to this site).

They look pretty amazing on gray bands, lol. I ordered Minnie and R2D2.

Oh thank heavens! He's more upset than I first realized (there are tears at being the only one to get the wrong band - being over tired from Easter travel is a contributing factor to the extreme emotions, but it's more than I can handle today!)

Offer to decorate the band, just incase they can't get him the right color at the resort. Take a look at the tread on decorating MBs. I've been playing with our old ones and my DS LOVES IT!

AND…

If there is any problem at the resort desk, it will be a very simple thing to simply spend $12.95 and just BUY a new band in any color.

I doubt that you will have any trouble at the resort, but even if you do…
for a few bucks, you can make it right in no time.

This!! Make him a cool one!

DVC sliders?? This is the first time I've heard of this. How did you get them?

I checked on my MDE acct twice before my magic bands shipped, and all the colors that I had selected had reverted back to grey. Twice I caught it and changed them back. TWICE!!

If there has been any change to a person in your MDE account, or a CM or Disney has been in your acct, or for no reason (it is Disney IT you are dealing with), your bands can revert back to grey.

Check your MDE account before your bands ship to make sure your color choices are still showing :)

I got a DVC slider with my magic bands ordered through my VGF stay next month, everyone in my room reservation got a DVC. I just ordered another color through the passholder link, so I assume I'll get the AP slider with that one.

We are passholders and DVC members but did not get sliders for any of our 3 trips (November, January and March. Hopefully this will change for our next visit.

At WDW they do sell covers for the magic bands. They can be purchased at the parks or at the resort stores. You can also purchase cute "jibbit-like" options to dress up your magic bands.

Have a wonderful trip.

No DVC slider here.....maybe for the next trip? Is it something new?
We did get the AP sliders

Thanks for the warning, I will be sure to check on the MB order occasionally to make sure the colors are correct.

DVC sliders?? This is the first time I've heard of this. How did you get them?

DVC sliders were tucked in to the box with the bands. Had no clue we would get those because I hadn't heard about them either. I thought they were the annual pass sliders but couldn't figure out why all 4 would have them since only 3 of us have APs. I would post a picture but somehow every time I try, I fail :rotfl2:

We have at stay at BLT and BCV starting in 10 days and there were no sliders in the boxes. But if DVC are getting sliders, then my son didn't get any either.

I just think of them as a little extra security for wearing the bands in the pools.

I saw a post saying that the DVC sliders were sent for reservations starting 5/11.

The only problem with buying one or getting at the resort is his name won't be imprinted on the inside. Not sure if it is a big deal to him... but my kids love having their names in there.
