Any teachers out there? My dd started Kindergarten this year and is having a difficult holding her pencil correct. Anyone have any ideas on how to correct, exercises, hand held games, that might help her dexterity?
I have to admit she is learning by example I myself hold my pen incorrect. I had teachers yell at me and "I" never listened. My penmenship is fine and very easily read.

Should I worry about this too much??

They make pencil grips that encouage children to hold a pencil in the correct way. You can get them at a teacher supply store, an education themed store or a good book store. Exercises to make those mussles stronger are good ideas too. One is giving the child a pair of safety scissors and play dough to cut. Another is playing with silly putty. Make cookie dough and let your child kneed the dough. Enncourage crayons instead of markers. Most of all it just taked time to grow and mature!!!

Thanks Jodans' mom for the advice. I think this whole year I will worry, seeing it is all new to both of us. I'll give the playdooh and silly putty a try. Her teacher recommended picking things up with tweezers. Thought maybe the game Operation would be fun and a good way to practice. I am open to ideas....
