From what I have gathered the kids club kids have to wear wrist bands? Do these last the whole week or do they get a new one each night? This seems kinda odd for Disney to resort to such an old idea. Has anyone suggested they loose the wrist bands? It seems to me this would annoy the kids by the first night, I know my kids don't care to wear those wrist bands you get at county fairs for the evening, let alone the whole week.

They can wear them the whole week, or get new every time (although you'll probably hate waiting for them to print one, put it on, etc) These are not like the paper ones with the sticky part, they are plastic ones with the plastic fasteners. My kids STILL have theirs on from the May 8th cruise. Dd was near hysterics when I told her she'll have to take it off for her ballet recital next week! And our formal night picture.....forgot dd had it on and now we have a cute picture of she and ds propping their chins on their fists with a big ol' wristband on my dd's arm! :) oh well, that's her!

As I understand it, the bar code on the plasticized wrist band makes it a snap for the counselors to page the parents when the child wants them. During our seven night cruise, we unsnapped the wrist bands when the kids weren't in the clubs (they were with us), and then snapped them back on when we dropped them off.

Another advantage we were told about while on our cruise was ID for a lost child. If any child wearing a wristband is found anywhere on the ship by themselves, any crew member can have the parents paged and that will get you reunited with your lost child quickly.

The wrist band bothered my DD (10 year old at the time) so the CM pinned it on her shirt instead.
i like the idea of the wrist band with the bar code on it...that makes me very secure!!

Just got back from the May 8th Magic Cruise and my God daughter hates to wear anything on her wrist so we had them put it on her ankle and it lasted there the whole week! Out of site, out of mind as they say :)

My DD's lasted from September 18th until December 6th! Yes, it is true. She didn't want to take it off!

She had 'planned' to wear it until she got on the Magic in 2004, but on Decmeber 6th her ballet company was performing and I had to 'insist' it come off.

Oh my gosh! This is my dd! After our May 2003 cruise she didn't want to take it off. I had to squirm it off for her ballet recital and then squirm it back on! She actually WORE her OLD wrist band onto the ship for our September cruise! The counsellors got the biggest kick out of that saying it was the FIRST TIME any kid had ever kept their wrist band on for the next cruise!

Currently both dd and ds have DCL wrist bands on!

Just got back from the May 8th Western. My two DD's liked the wrist bands. They are not the cheap paper type that always snags the hair on your arms. They both just removed theirs yesterday for their first softball game since they have been back.

They don't seem to bother too many kids and they are a great idea. With the name tags that they get and the wrist bands, there's no reason for a kid to get mistaken for another kid or lost.

May 8th DS6 just took his off on Wednesday of this week. He had no problems wearing it the whole week and even told us only kids get them and we could not have one. LOL. - Mike

I don't get kids with wrist bands, we were at the Atlantis (actually Harborside) a few years ago, and my daughter at one point had 7 on her wrist!! Refused to take them off. I guess its kind of like ski tickets!!

My daughters had NO PROBLEMS wearing their wristbands.

Different question: At what age do they discontinue wristbands?

We were on the Wonder last week and our ten year old didn't need the wrist band and our seven year old had to, so, I'd say about ten you won't need one.

now if they'd give the teens wristbands, and embed little GPS devices in them .... :teeth: .... wishful thinking on a mom's part ;)

THEY CAN WEAR THEM AROUND THIER ANKLES????

That would have made my dd a lot happier if she knew that. She hated them.......but wore it anyway.

My kids also loved their wristbands. I had to get them off & put away for the scrapbook. :) Don't the bands also have your lifeboat station on them? It seems like they have all the bases covered for safety for the kids with the wristbands.

Yes, the wristbands say AS:P For Assembly Station P....or whatever AS you are. :)

Oh yea, it was my daughter that had it on her ankle....she hates things on her wrists and wasn't to crazy about it on her ankle but she tolerated it for the week since I told her they wouldn't give her another one and she couldn't go to the kids club anymore if she took it off!

Wrist bands are only issued for the 8-9 groups and under....they stop at the 10-12 groups and up.
