Wrapped or unwrapped?

Interesting! I've never even been aware of the concept that some presents would NOT be wrapped until I read through this thread. For me, not having them wrapped would take all the fun out of it. I remember the anticipation sitting amidst a pile of gifts, I couldn't wait to open each one, but it was fun that way.

I think that having them wrapped would allow the child to appreciate each gift in turn, and really have a look at what it is. If gifts are unwrapped, it just seems like it would be over in a second and you might not get the satisfaction of seeing their reaction to each present. They probably would overlook smaller and medium gifts to make over the larger ones.

It's definitely gift wrapped in my house!

The millions of toys Santa brings here come unwrapped. The meager 2-3 that "mom & dad" buy are wrapped.

Actually, this is the first year my youngest doesn't believe in Santa, so all the presents will be under the tree wrapped

On Christmas Eve we try to get home from our extended family gathering about 6:00 so that just our family can exchange gifts with each other. But, the parents never give the good gifts that night, that's Santa's job. ;) Growing up, Santa always left the gifts unwrapped at my house and DH's. He would even lay out everything in a presentation style and each child had their "section". Oldest sibling had the couch, middle sibling had the love seat and I had the recliner. :) So, we will be continuing that tradition. We only have one child, 19 months. This year will be a lot more fun. I can't wait to see her face as she comes around the corner into the living room and sees everything Santa left her. At 19 months, it would take too long to unwrap everything and I want her to be interested in the toys, not the paper. :earboy2:

Santa doesn't have THAT many elves, the gifts come unwrapped, put together, with the batteries installed and ready to go.

I was just about to edit my post and say the same thing. All the work has already been done. You get to enjoy watching them play with the toys.

We wrap the presents from Santa...a little more fun that way, IMO.

A little of both.

When I was growing up, Santa didn't wrap anything and it was pretty disappointing. It was always such a thrill for my sister and me when we'd go to someone else's house to get a wrapped gift!

Anything that needs to be put together or is something that would look cute sitting out (think bike or doll), we don't wrap. If they're in boxes or can be taken right out, we wrap them.

Santa has different wrapping paper and different handwriting than Mom & Dad. ;)

Santa does the same thing here. Although one year he forgot a cable for the nintendo. Now her makes sure he has everything needed

Santa wraps everything for our house except for things that aren't wrappable. All toys which require assembly are put together in advance with batteries, and then wrapped. Anything that requires assembly but can't be wrapped, it assembled on Christmas Eve with a big bottle of wine. :teeth:

Santa wrpas everything...much more fun that way!! If he left them all unwrapped then they would see everything at one time..more fun unwrapping things one at a time..Santa brings ALL the gifts here except for one or two that are from me....my 6 year old and her friend were talking and the friend said that Santa brings her one gift every year..my daughter replied "wow, you must be really bad during the year to only get one gift"....its so hard to explain why one kid gets 20 gifts and others get 1 or 2...

Santa definitely WRAPS in SANTA paper! :teeth:

Santa ALWAYS wraps at our house. As another poster said, me and my brother get to open the presents at our own pace. It is a little difficult, though, with Jake always wanting to know what we got. LOL. Usually there is one thing left unwrapped. Usually it is if we get something big (like my brother got this lego table thing one year) or a stuffed animal (I got a Pluto the Disney Store that I had my eye on all year) or something.

He always wrapped as a kid, and still wraps for my kids.

But, there is a feeling unlike NO OTHER when you come down the stairs, and see the shiny new ten speed bike next to the tree, when we were dirt poor. Nothing comes close.

Santa brings one unwrapped present--the rest are from us & wrapped. And the gifts are usually one general theme. One year they all got new sleeping bags. Another year, it was piggy banks. This year, they're all getting a new watch each. :)

wrapped however "santa" always had special paper.. so DS knew what came from santa and what came from us... :rolleyes1

Another unwrapped, here, Santa is too busy putting together the Barbie house, Barbie Jeep, Bike, etc.

Funny, because I thought just the opposite - I didn't realize so many people wrap gifts from Santa. Honestly, I think my parents started the unwrapped because my brothers and I always woke up Christmas morning by 5am and they didn't want to get up then so we were allowed to play with our gifts quietly until a decent hour. Wrapped stuff was always necessities like underwear, socks, pjs, pants, etc. We rarely got excited about the wrapped stuff.

Is the picture of your son, your first? In general I found my kids were completely overwhelmed with unwrapping (birthday or Christmas) and ended up just opening 2 or 3 and then wanting the boxes rather than the gift and then we had to unwrap the rest later anyway so it was an easy decision for us to continue the Santa straight-from-the-workshop toys.

All the presents at our house come from Santa and they are all wrapped unless there is no way to wrap them like in past years like a barbie jeep or a bike or a foosball table.

Oh no, Santa never wraps presents here or when I was growing up! They were all straight out of the sack from the workshop.... no time to wrap for Santa! Presents from mom and dad and siblings are all wrapped. Older DD and DS's presents, though are now usually wrapped.... they are smaller and have lost the WOW appeal!
