Wow! Very low prices for DVC rooms!

We are non-DVC owners who are renting points for a stay in january. When this deal came out yesterday I was like, 'ugh we could have gone for a lot cheaper but it's too late to cancel now!'

I did the math and later realized that yes, we could have stayed at a value resort for less money, but figuring the deal based on our accomodations (2 bedroom at OKW) we are still saving more money off rack rates by renting than we would with this discount. Based on my calculations, the total cost per night (including park tickets for each person) is about $50 cheaper when renting, even when you factor in the $200 gift card. Not to mention the fact that we were only going to go for five nights and this deal requires seven.

Great Job comparing apples to apples:goodvibes I don't think this deal is all that great either compared to how we normally stay.
Im not staying in a Value or Moderate for 7 days. Im not going to the parks for 7 days straight either. We've seen this deal before, but it was a better deal when the tickets were Park Hoppers. MYW Tix allows WDW to strip them down to the basics and they are front loaded.

How often do you get 42-43% off on a PIN Code?

Most pins are 20 or 30% off..very few get 40% off. This is even better,
about 42 or 43% off..

Disney is trying to induce guests to travel..I think its a great idea! :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

Which brings the rates to a more realistic value for the price they want.

I am OVER Disney Deluxe. For the price they want I expect REAL deluxe not "It's a pretty hotel isn't that enough"

I dont think this debate is about 'is Disney deluxe worth 500 a night?" That could be a whole other topic!

I think this discussion is about how people who WANT TO DO a Disney Deluxe property can try them out at 40% off the rack rate. This, for Disney, is a good deal, if the guest wishes to do a Disney deluxe resort.

I think it has been a long time since Disney has offered such a discount on deluxe resorts through the CRO. The fairytale package was comparable in 2003 I think.

What I am interested in though, had the Villas ever seen a 40% discount at the CRO before? I know there is a 20% or something for DVC members, and wasent there a family and friends discount too? Can any vets weigh in on what the best Villa cash discount that has ever been offered by Disney? I dont know because I never followed 'villa' costs before.

anyone?

I believe I got a better deal with the recent bounce-back special that ended in October...2 Adults/2 Juniors staying in a studio @ OKW in August for 8 nights w/free DDP and 1-day base tickets for just a little over $2000. Had I booked thru MS the same thing would have cost me 108 pts + $1250 for DDP + $300 for tickets. Not to mention the fact that I will get mousekeeping everyday as well.

I thought about moving our trip to March instead to take advantage of the 4/3 deal going on right now but the same number of nights would have cost me $3550 (after I deducted the value of the $200 free giftcard). So for a $1500 savings I'll put up with the heat/hurricane season!

If they keep offering deals like this you can bet I'll do anything I can to take advantage of them whether I'm a DVC owner or not...

Thank you for the info calypso*a*go-go

It does sound like you got a great rate! I will be there with ya in the heat and humidity of August :>)
